If you like a soft light white on wood this works very well. We applied it like a stain. but you can brush it on. we used old rags and put it on thin so we could still see the woodgrain come through. Only issue was how we had to buy it.. I had to get two its. and I only needed less than one.. So what can I white wash now?…LOL!

I was wanting to try this product for A huge project. I was wanting a white wash finish. My wood Was kiln dryer popular. Sanded with 80 grit. Basically did nothing. I normally do not write reviews but this product is a bad one. We'll take a look at the photo yourself. There is a possibility I got a bad can but doubt it. Going with the 1to1 paint and water.

Great product! It made our beams look amazing! I was skeptical about it being oil-based but it turned out to be the perfect product to white wash our rustic beams.

I was looking for a pale cool (bluish, not yellowish) gray color, basically a weathered-wood look but lighter. After applying Weatherwash Storm on maple wood, which is terrific for enhancing the grain while staying towards the blue, but it's still darker than I wanted (right side of photo). So I wiped on a thin layer of Varathane White Wash (left side of photo), and it's *perfect*, exactly what I wanted. Grain is still vivid, color is lovely. Easy to use, dried quickly, one coat was all I needed.

I wanted a solid white color so i put 1 coat on & let it dry

Great coverage. Can be light or heavy. I used this on pine tongue and groove for a ceiling I also added a bit of black stain

Varathane Hummm…Varathane classic oil based wood stains are my Choice for my Halloween novelty Crafts. Varathane is easy to use, easy clean up, low oder, dries fast (1 hr or less), I especially like the weathered Look the finishes are amazing such as Weathered gray, Weathered Oak, Great selection of colors 30+ and a good price. I have tried several of the other colors and I have found no difference in Quality of any color. I highly recommend this product

Looks great and easy to use!

I used this white wash on new cabinets that I purchased for a new kitchenette. It was very light & not what I would consider a white wash. I had to add 3 coats to even get to the desired white wash effect.

Used this on a bathroom vanity and it looked great for a few months but it’s been about a year now and it’s very yellow. I’m not new to DIY or painting/staining and have successfully whitewashed plenty of things in the past. I followed the instructions exactly, the cabinet was properly prepared and i used water based poly on top of it. This was the first time I’d used this product and the first time I’ve had a project turn yellow so i won’t use it again.

I haven't used it yet. I am sure it will be great tho.

Easy to apply and looks great.

Ended up to be a decent shade of white, which lent itself to my research on which stain to use. I used it on sanded hardwood flooring, it didn't provide the quoted coverage, or anywhere near it, which was a shame as I over ordered yet still didn't have enough to complete my job. Annoying, but even so I'm pleased with the finished product. I didn't stray from the instructions as I found that leaving the product on for upwards of 20 mins gained the best (whitest) shade of white...the 5 min rag off left the shade a bit too transparent. The product took fine with Bona Traffic HD poly overcoat too.

Easy application with good coverage on shiplap knotty spruce. Only negative is that it was difficult to wash off of my hands.

As a professional cabinetmaker, this product is top shelf. Doesn’t raise the grain of wood as a water-based stain would. Drying time is adequate for an oil based product. Drying (wiping) excess stain with cloths is easy to adjust color penetration. A great off the shelf finish for white washing.
