That is odd, Gary! Keep in mind that the final finish of the Rust-Oleum Varathane White Wash Wood Stain can depend on the wood species. For that reason, we always recommend applying the product to a test area first to ensure it is the color you are looking for. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 5

Did not give the white wash I hoped for. It is not water clean up. Has a high gloss shine to it. Good oils paint would have been easier and cheaper.

We appreciate your feedback, Julia! Rust-Oleum Varathane White Wash Wood Stain does need mineral spirits to help clean it up. All excess stain also needs to be wiped away after a few minutes as it is a penetrating product.

I was very happy with the outcome of the project....
I was very happy with the outcome of the project. My only complaint is that it dries too quickly when doing larger surfaces like the top of a long dresser or side of a tall dresser. It took a little bit to get used to as far as how fast to put it on and wipe it off before it gets too tacky.

Hard to get it all white but that is not the purpose. Like the product for a simplicity. One color so if u need another can u don't even think about color. But one can goes a long way I recommend a brush..just leave it in the can between coats and cover with glad wrap. I don't like staining or painting but I see value on this stuff.
