Satisfied with product

Provincial on birch
This is 2 coats of provincial on birch. The table is 42”x42” on top and 30x30” on the bottom. I used about a quarter of the 1 qt can. I also used a wood conditioner underneath the stain, highly recommend for birch since it can be difficult to stain without blotches. I would purchase again

Not sure what happened with the sample color
I have always used varathane products before and loved them. However, I’m not sure what happened with the sample picture for their weathered oak stain. Whatever stain I purchased was significantly more blue/grey than what appears on the can’s picture. After looking online to see where I could have gone wrong, I discovered that the picture for weathered oak in their premium stain is a much more accurate depiction of the end product. How is there such a big discrepancy?

I used it to stain some light colored poplar boards...
I used it to stain some light colored poplar boards for a bookcase. Wow, what a beautiful color. Really brings out the full glory of the wood. Spreads very easily and looked amazing after just one coat. Because it is such a thin stain make sure you have a rag on hand to wipe up what drips down the sides or you will see the drip marks.

Purchased the Classic Gray wood stain for our home made corn hole boards and they turned out great! I made a mountain design and wanted a gray/blue for the sky. This met our needs! I recommend using the color charts provided (hanging near the stain) to chose the color you are looking for, as depending on the wood used, may not look like the color picture on the can.

Question
Is this paint safe to use on a dinner table for my family? I read the lead warning and knowing I have a newborn on the way scares me from using this paint on any of my furniture because of the toxicity in the lead paint :( I’ve had the paint for a few months now and I started my project before reading the labels. Now I feel like I’ve ruined my furniture with lead covered paint.

I was able to do a great job patching up...
I was able to do a great job patching up the small scratches that I had on my kitchen cabinets that had occurred over the past 10 years! Love the way it came out. The water based polyurethane coating in matte finish was a great topper to this quick and easy job.

Hits and misses
I applied all stains to new pine that I lightly sanded and conditioned. The golden pecan came out pretty close but the gunstock was nowhere near what I expected. Many shades lighter. I also purchased the weathered gray and it was more like paint than stain. It came out nice but not matching the gray I was trying to achieve. I wasn't planning on so much work and purchases to get the desired results.

The Weathered Gray Wood Stain may have been one of our Varathane Fast Dry Wood Stains, which apply with more opaque appearance. Wood Stain Hazelwood Color is Grey
This stain color is awful. It is much more grey than shown on the can. This stain absolutely ruined a beautiful piece of wood I had. Utterly disappointed and now I have to go through the process of removing the stain.

Hi Connor, if the stain appears as a solid color, the excess stain will need to be wiped from the surface. Our Varathane Wood Stains are wiping stains, and once the stain has been allowed to penetrate into the wood for a few minutes, the excess stain must be wiped from the surface to ensure proper color and drying. You can reapply some stain to reactivate the stain on the surface, then wipe with a lint-free cloth in direction of the wood grain to remove the excess. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 2
