Very nice finish and easy to apply. I suggest a little longer drying time than the label says. The finish is resin like.

Happy to know that my custom redwood fence/hate is coated with this Spar Urethane coat of Clear Gloss and protected from all elements of rain, wind and sun in Hawaii. This coat of paint will extend the life of the wood while keeping it looking great.

Applied with foam brushes, 3 coats over 3 days, amazing results. Final buff job with car polish and foam pad on drill.

Using on red mahogany boat trim, goes on sticky, stays sticky for 24to28 hours in air conditioned shop. Takes 4 days to do 2 coats on 2 sides. Does not level itself well. Going back to Helmsman next time.

SPAR Urethane is a preferred varnish for boats and yachts, therefore, a perfect selection for my house in the sunny and humid south. SPAR Urethane has a proven high-UV protection and a strong resistance to water, out on the open high seas. With that in mind, I expected this SPAR Varnish to "seal and deliver" but had no idea just how incredible Varathane's oil-based product would bring all of my new cedar shutters and cedar fence to life!! Like a magnet, Varathane pulled out the beautiful wood tannins, swirls and notches in my shutters and fence, while providing superior protection along the way. Now I can just watch the water droplets skip right off my shutters and fence. A 220 block sander and brush was used to apply three separate coats to my shutters. A spray gun (2/3 urethane to 1/3 mineral spirits) was used for two coats on my entire fence line. Very pleased with the show-stopping results and so are my neighbors. Expensive but worth the money. I anticipate going 5 - 8 years before needing to reapply. Brilliant, oil-based product.

The perfect urethane to coat my newly painted corn hole boards for the outdoors ! Super smooth finish , but does take a while to dry to the touch. Give it time, and you won't be disappointed !

The varnish glides on well and lays down nice and glossy.

I used this product and had disastrous results. After sanding, cleaning and painting two coats of a stain on my wood door, I applied Varathane polyurethane. The horrific results speak for themselves. See the picture of my door just after my first coat of stain (it looked even better after my second coat of stain but I hadn’t taken a picture) and the subsequent picture after I applied Varathane polyurethane. I wish I had my time, effort and money back. I now need a complete do-over. BTW, I don’t need any responses from Varathane regarding proper stirring, temperature, drying times, etc. I followed the instructions and this was the result…

This product really made the natural wood grain stand out on the 2 garden benches I made for family and friend

If you want the best results, use the best product. I have used Varathane products for many years, starting in my Marine Maintenance Business back in Florida. I have always found their product to be first quality. This product was exactly what I needed for this job; to create a glossy finish on several backing boards on which I intended to mount gimbaled oil lamps. After three coats, I was satisfied with the result. The gloss was uniform and the varnish effectively levels out and covers any slight defects in the prepared wood surface. Follow the directions carefully and you will get a fine gloss finish for your efforts. As you can see from the photo, the finish is sufficiently glossy so as to reflect the image of the lamp. Great product!

Nice smooth application and dried finish. I actually used this on wood ceiling fan blades for an outdoor fan. The original blades suffered from our Texas weather. I am cautiously optimistic this will help with longevity. It will receive the final star if it weathers well.

Little woody tear drop trailer needed some protection. 2 coats of outdoor gloss Varathane Spar Urethane gave it a good shine with tons of protection against the elements.

Goes on easy and self levels. Fills gaps and very forgiving of brush marks. Cures to a nice hard glassy finish that is almost epoxy-like. Curing time is quite long and the vapors are strong so use in a well ventilated area and I would recommend a mask. Beautiful result, very professional looking, and once cured is very hard.

great covers great and end result was excellent

I used this to cover some outdoor furniture. It covered well and went on very smooth. I covered the furniture with two coats and sanded lightly after the second. After the third coat the finish looked great. Will use this again!

Painted it on and it dried. Easy as blowing your nose.
