I have been growing hydroponically for years, this is the first time I’ve ever had a net pot lid that doesn’t secure to the bucket. I saw one person say they were designed to be loose so you can lift them easily, I personally think it’s a DESIGN FLAW that could ruin someone’s hard work. If you’re growing top heavy plants (IE a certain heavy fruiting annual used for medical purposes that’s so popular around here) these could cause the plant to topple over if support isn’t used, or if the plant isn’t centered. I would NEVER recommend using these lids unless you’re growing something like herbs or something light. If you are using these, get some trellis to prevent possible disaster

These mesh pots fit a 5 gallon bucket perfectly. The net pot is large enough to grow large plants and vegetables or for starting three of four seedlings. They are sturdy and strong and will be able to be used many times as long as you clean them thoroughly before replanting. They also fit a standard 3.5 gallon bucket allowing you to use less water for less demanding plants. Highly recommended!!

I couldn't be happier with this product. It fits perfectly over a 5 gallon bucket. My little plants sit in the built-in net cup with some clay balls. These lids save so much time from cutting a hole in a bucket lid. I liked them so much that a purchased a second set. Great design and time-saver for hydroponics.

To tell the truth, I have never used these before, but have done some similar gardening with pots and buckets and that was enough for me!!! No more tilling, digging, weeding, or all the other stuff that makes gardening a chore on steroids! These fit on a five gallon bucket that has been filled with my choice of growing medium and VOILA!!! I'm done! I will try my best to remember to come back here with pictures and further review when it ain't so stinking cold and stuff will actually start growing.

Awesome product! simple but effective and easy use. it is light and easy to empty into trash to help with the garbage that goes into the drains which cause problems down the road. a cheap and easy way to prevent blockages and such. highly recommend this product to help cut out food waste down the drain that will cause problems. thank you for having this available.
These are solidly built and able to hold up a small tree.. has a lip that doesnt snap onto the bucket, instead it just sits on top for easy lift off. These are light proof and thick. Worth every penny.. id deff buy again.

It seems this is designed for hydroponic gardening utilizing either a 3.5 or 5 gallon bucket. I had a different idea. I have a low spot in my backyard, since this nicely fits on a five gallon bucket I decide to make a dry/french well utilizing a five gallon bucket. I will not get into the technical's of how to set up a dry/french well and drain system. The main thing is that the bucket had to be buried in the flower bed that has bark mulch, so once the bucket was buried it will be nice to have a way to access the interior of the bucket for easy clean out. The rainy season is over for now, so for testing purposes , I just used a hose to fill the bucket to insure at least I had enough fall to drain the water if the bucket filled up to the outlet, it does. If next year this one bucket system cannot handle the load I will add more buckets utilizing the mesh bucket lid insert. Being able to use these inserts on a five gallon bucket can save a lot of money over buying a dedicated dry well box. If you need a lot they come in 6 and 12 packs. If you have down spout issues use this insert and bucket dry well technique. What a simple great idea this insert has in opening the door to a host of great other uses, let your imagination run wild.

Okay why only 3 stars but excellent quality and value the description was a little misleading,, 6 inch pot bucket lid insert.. though it was 6 inches across which would fit perfectly in your common hanging pots you but at Home Depot and other places.. insert is actually 12 inches across so will fit in very large containers. The good news very well made and looks like it will hold up a long time. Wish I had a couple in these to fit in smaller pots.

I've been wanting to try hydroponic gardening for a while but the whole process and equipment seemed kind of daunting to figure out. This mesh bucket which fits on top of a regular Home Depot container is perfect for those just starting out. The roots of the plant grow right through the mesh down into whatever you're using whether it's soil or water. Just started with trying this type of gardening so will have to see how I do with it. My only suggestion would be to include some instructions with the bucket for us newbies!

The 6" mesh pot bucket lid insert is exactly what the description says. It fits snuggly on top of a standard HD 5 gallon bucket and gives a good base for plants as they get larger than the smaller hydroponics baskets can hold. It would be nice if the unit included holes for inlet and outlets for hydro tubing so a circulation pump can be easily added.

It fits on a 5 gallon bucket. I used one of those orange ones that Home Depot sells. The application is pretty straight forward. You snap the very durable uv protected six inch mesh pot bucket lid on a 5 or 3.5 gallon bucket, fill the mesh area with grow stones and a plant and fill the bucket with water. It is also helpful to put fertilizer in the bucket. You will be able to grow plants without soil. They call it hydroponic.

+ fits standard five gallon buckets
+ thick soft plastic "net" won't be challenged by aggressive roots
+ "net" holds the smallest hydroton I've found
+ thick soft plastic deck is easy to cut a bendable access flap that won't break off in your lifetime
This bucket lid has Viagrow etched on the deck, so it might be slightly different than your local hydro store's; I find this thicker and heavier, thus better, than the slightly cheaper one I got locally -- and I was more than happy with that one.
You can easily cut a bendable flap in this decking, without worry of wearing the plastic or it breaking off, and when you close it it has an almost self-healing light seal.
This fits the orange Home Depot bucket, which is not nearly light proof, the blue L's which is less translucent, and L's silver heavier and taller 5 gal which is light proof. Unless you know someone, black buckets are stupid expensive. And I don't know anyone.

Handy lid insert fits snuggly on a 5 gallon bucket and is designed to allow you to grow vegetables hydroponically meaning with their roots in a water / fertilizer solution [you can you-tube the Dutch bucket system or hydroponics or my personal favorite aquaponics, where you use fish to generate the fertilizer and use the plants to clean the water for the fish.] I am currently using it for a tomato tree [yes in Florida they are perennial not annual] I like the insert as it is made of a heavy grade of plastic and should last for years.
I used these baskets to grow hydroponic peppers, tomatoes, and eggplant in DWC food grade buckets. When the plants were small I used small 2 gallon buckets and increased the size of the buckets as the plants grew larger. The basket made changing the nutrient solution and bucket size easy. I used lava rock to secure my Rockwell cubes in the baskets. Plants grew beautifully. I wish Home Depot carried more hydroponic supplies
