Grows very good I use this grass seed a lot

High germination rate in 7 days. Dense shade is difficult to maintain because trees suck up all the water. This is going much better than previous attempts. Strong grass growing well.

This seed has been down for two weeks and does not seem to be growing.

Had a lot of broomstraw-like clumping tall grass in it.

The entire consumer grass seed business has become a sham. The term "coated grass seed" means that 50% of the contents is not seed, but rather some low cost water absorbent that does not seem to improve germination one iota. The second ruse is that much of the content is cheap one-shot winter rye grass to give buyers the impression that the product germinates quickly and robustly. But rye grass dies off quickly in the heat and does not regrow. So you are left with a potential of 25% growth from the actual summer season seed that's in the bag. My result with this seed (and Vigaro's sun and shade mix) is disappointing. We've had a perfect Carolina spring for germinating grass seed - cool temps, plenty of rain and just the right amount of sun. That and a perfect ground preparation resulted in nothing but some anemic rye grass coming up two weeks after planting. Vigaro prices better than their competition, but if it doesn't grow, it's a terrible value. I think America's love affair with grass lawns needs to end. We are getting fleeced and the environmental impact cannot be ignored.
