The beginning of this season I purchased 8-10 bags of this soil to start our potted plants. This was to be the first trip for soil. We usually do about 20 huge pots and plant all types of plants. Always veggie plants. Well this year my husband decided he was going to start them. If I had been there, I would have stopped after the first bag and returned the rest. We have never had a problem with Vigoro soil before. It has always been great. Not this year. It looked like mulch. Mulch, pebbles, and some dirt. It was horrible. I can’t even tell you how many plants we lost. Maybe 10 +. I have no idea what they changed but I can’t go back to buying this after this year. Such a shame. We usually give veggies away to neighbors because of the abundance we grow using this soil.

Excellent soil, very rich and not too dense, and no twigs etc. in it. I'm using it for container gardening and the plants are doing great.

I thought soils were all similar so I bought the most affordable one. Boy was I wrong. This bag of soil has many garbages included such as plastic wires, vinyl wrappings and so forth. I feel as if they are selling a bag of soil from a dump. Luckily, my local Home Depot accepted return for this garbage.

I guess next time I’ll make sure to read the reviews before I buy a product from Home Depot but honestly I didn’t think I’d have to read them about DIRT! We bought about ten bags of “Vigoro Garden Soil”. The first day I was emptying them I scraped my hand on a small metal piece, looks like part of their machinery broke. It’s pretty sharp too so I guess I should be thankful it wasn’t worse. So, that’s bad enough....should have returned it all just at that but no, I gave them another chance. BAD IDEA!!! I will NEVER buy another product from that company again. Their soil is FILLED with debris...wrappers, plastic, this weird netting stuff, hard plastic pieces, blue plastic (hard and soft pieces) and many more items that have NO BUSINESS BEING IN SOIL!! I saved an example of some of the items in the bags it is by no means the only pieces. I would understand a little bit but this is RIDICULOUS! Now I’m upset because I did all this work gardening and have soil that I’m not even sure I should consume the vegetables that have been grown in it. Unbelievable! Don’t waste your hard earned money on this garbage. Home Depot should be ashamed of themselves for selling this product.

Bought this product yesterday and when I went to put it in the garden it was full of mold. Both bags that I bought were moldy and had tons of plastic bag pieces all in them. Next time I will spend a bit more and get Miracle Gro instead.

Honestly, I have decided to use all vigoro products for my garden, and my harvest has been the biggest it's ever been this year! Corn, 4 types of squash, and watermelons, herbs, lettuces, sun flowers, and onions. I trust this brand 100% and the fertilizer is dynamite!

Found this product to contain much plastic and wire contamination. I had also purchased a competitor's product at same time and this product contained much more debris. I can only hope product does not hinder growth of plants.

I will never try to save myself a couple bucks when it comes to potting soil. I like another persons review found multiple pieces of debris such as plastic, large twigs, rocks, and trash through my bags of soil... further more I had a little miracle-gro soil left from last season that I used in one pot and this version of soil in the other pot... they were planted at the same time, with the same flower placement, I water them the same amount and at the same time, they also receive the same amount of sunlight/shade... yet you can see a very noticeable difference and in many of my other pots the soil is killing my flowers and I am in the process of fertilizing them with the right nutrients in an attempt to get them back to healthy.... very disappointed!

Do not waste your money. I could have gotten better quality dirt from my back yard! Found a old used bottle of lotion in the bag. I will never buy this brand anything ever again! Yup they fooled me with their pretty looking bag ....., that’s full of someone’s garbage!

I purchased 15 bags to fill my garden bed and as I was mixing it into the bed I noticed glass and plastic bag pieces. I have a 40 feet garden bed to fill and I will not be using this brand to fill the rest of the bed. Highly disappointed. My three year old son was upset because I didn’t let him plant with me because I fear that he will hurt himself with the glass pieces ...

I used this soil for planting a small bed of potatoes and the mixture was excellent and plant growth was fast. The soil is dark and rich with nutrients even when used for outdoor potted vegetable planting.

Bought the bag at the store because it seemed like a better option than Miracle Grow. I had to get all the wood out to use for my cactus and when I used a screen to sort it, I found scraps of aluminum edging and also got cut by a small chunk of glass when reaching my hand in the bag so I definitely recommend gloves if you are going to reach in the bag. Also there was pieces of plastic bags in there. After getting all the wood out of an entire bag and a half, I was only able to fill a few 1 gallon pots only half way. It has soooo much wood in it. At least half of both of the bags was filled with giant pieces of sticks and shredded wood. Definitely not enough of the actual soil itself.

I bought seven bags of this soil for a vegetable garden. There were large wood chunks in all of them, rocks (some of them huge) and parts of plastic bags, different colors. This is not fair. it made me wonder how contaminated this soil must be. We are supposed to grow edible plants in this soil.

Bought 2 bags to plant some flowers. I noticed after I planted my flowers, it smelled like poop. I love getting my hands dirty while planting, but I had to wash my hands like 7 times and 2 times with pure bleach to get the smell off.... I bought lavender and a Gardenia and all I can smell is poop! I sure hope it will not smell for very long

Purchased online and did an in store pickup that went smoothly.Brought this soil for vegetable garden containers and must say for the price it’s great quality.

there really wasn't much soil to it. it was mostly just shredded wood pieces. 2 days after watering it a ton of grassy looking weeds started coming up. since I had put 4 inches of top soil down first and watered it a few times, I can tell the weeds are from the garden soil. I would never buy this again. very disappointed. the last thing you want when you live in the country and have termites around the wooded areas is to put wood pieces down.

Purchased 5 bags of these based on great reviews. Mine was not like the other reviewers photos at all. They were for my new vegetable garden bed. I dumped all 5 bags into the bed so there was only this product in the bed. I immediately noticed small pieces of plastics and they were full of up 3 inches long chunky wood pieces but not much soil. I started to shovel to check what are in because I would be growing vegetables here. Found so many small to big rocks, a nail, so many plastic/glass pieces. I threw most of them out and finally decided to keep some of them in the box to take a photo. I probably had double of this amount shown in the photo of foreign contaminants in 5 bags. I didn't even take photo of big wooden pieces that are not fully decomposed. I paid for trash filled soils and I cannot even start my garden scared of using these soils. I opened package so I can't return these nor I am scared to go back to the store considering Covid-19. Very disappointed.

Very disappointed when I dug my trowel into the bag of potting soil. I was trying to re-pot an indoor plant. Came across many sticks & stones. Not what I was expecting & quite disappointed in the quality of the product. Will try Miracle-Gro next time!

Nice dirt for a couple raised beds. This was amended with regular dirt one to one and has been a great choice as seen in the photos.

I use this every year when I plant my tomato and pepper garden. Bags are easy to handle and the yield from my garden is always good.

My fruits and veggies are growing very well with this garden soil. I read the reviews before I brought it and I decided to try it on my own. Although some people were disappointed I’m quit pleased with the results and will continue to by this product. I love it!

Sticks, smalls screws, wires, plastic, rocks...all throughout the entire bag of soil. Just pay the extra and get the name brand.

I always use vigoro garden soil for my in ground and outdoor potted plants. The flowers grow large with the help of the plant food in the soil. I add more soil to the top after a month or two to prolong the life of the plants. Cheaper than other brands, but works just as well.

Getting Lots of Veggies!

At first I thought this was a bargain. I loaded it with 20 bags because I built two small beds over the Memorial Day weekend. Two weeks later I realized this purchase was a mistake. The first thing I notices is the eggplants in the new bed got crushed by flea beetles. I had eggplants in an older bed about 10 feet away and the plant where healthy. Only difference was the soil. Then I noticed weeds. So many weeds. I have two bags left and am returning.

got this product and it appears to have what looks like grub eggs all through it. every bag. didn't notice it at first when mixing this in the evening. already dumped some of the bags in my raised beds. only noticed today in the sunlight. taking the unopened bags back and hoping to get a refund back on all 12 because now i have to get grub killer to fix this.

Tree is growing great and my ornamental grass I planted.

Vigoro is a brand I trust for my garden soil. It is perfect for my vegetable garden. Has fertilizer that will last my whole garden season.
