I bought this harness to work in an aerial lift. The harness is really sturdy, very adjustable, and I felt safe and secure using it. The metal clips are very sturdy. The buckles on the harness have a good design incorporating a slit on each side of the retaining buckle that makes doing and undoing them easy. My friend's harness didn't have these slits so his was a lot more difficult for him to remove. The small bag is super useful to keep together, store and transport the lanyard and the harness. I highly recommend.

At my age I don’t make it a habit climbing. But sometimes you have to do a roof or a chimney repair so I thought the Werner Aerial Kit would be a nice addition to the tool box. This kit include a harness and energy absorbing lanyard (if used with an aerial lift). The harness and lanyard come packaged in a convenient black tool bag. The BaseWear harness has a single back D-ring and pass through legs, 5-point adjustments for optimal fit, and 6 ft. DeCoil lanyard with snap hooks. I am 6’2, 230 with a 40inch waist and the harness fits me fine. The harness is made of very sturdy and well stitched material. If you climb a lot or even occasionally have to make a repair this would be a great addition to your tool kit. I would recommend this product.

  • Lifesaver Maybe

First a story. 5yrs. ago when I was building/painting my 2 story I was on a scaffold 5 ft. above concrete. My goggles fogged up and I stepped off the plank and hit on my shoulder and side of my head. It nearly knocked me out and I thought I may die. The impact ripped all the ligaments from my shoulder and reattaching my collar bone to my shoulder was not possible, so now I have a drooped, very ugly shoulder that still feels weird. It's time to repaint and I have been dreading it. I've installed 3/8" I-bolts and cable to clip a carabiner on. Getting this safety harness and decoil lanyard maybe a lifesaver. The quality of this outfit is very good. Instructions on fitting and adjustment of the harness is poor and took me nearly an hour just thinking it out. The front picture was of a belt buckle style and not this slip adjust model. After doing enough adjustment to get my XL body into this harness then it started making sense. The feel was not that bad and movement was not too restricted. My wife will feel better about the job I have to tackle too.

  • I WOULD FEEL SAFE FROM A FALL

Right away let me tell you I'm no expert in safety gear. I have had to purchase harnesses for work and even on occasion put them on and they were all way more difficult figure, to adjust and much more expensive. This Werner UpGear Aerial kit seems to be made out of every bit as good as material as those with the seam stitching equally heavy. I do own a harness for hunting ( I will not mention the brand) that I keep in my permanent tree stand that was more expensive than this one. The Werner UpGear is everybit as good and actually the lanyard is easier to attach and unattach. This harness may not have as many frills as one twice the price, but it sure is easy to slip on and adjust. It doesn't have things that the more expensive ones might have like extra metal rings, padding, etc. but It does have one plastic hook to attach something around the left shoulder area. Again, as I have aged and lost muscle strength in my legs my wife has constantly been concerned about my climbing up on the roof or trimming trees and I'm not a huge fan of heights myself. By simply adding a few H/D eye hooks where needed or having places to clip off the concern about falling gives you a little relief and lets you go around your business. You should never let any safety device be a way however to work carelessly. As for size it was no problem for me. I'm usually a large and sometimes an XL. I'm sure it has no problem going XXL or Small but beyond or under those ranges you will probably not fit (my opinion). It would have been nice to have it this summer. I have a few branches out front that are dead and may not take a heavy snow load and fall on my fence or car. Like I said, I really don't like heights and even with the ladder being secured things like working with a chainsaw is dangerous enough without the thought of the branch coming out and taking you out or any of those other things we have all seen on America's funniest videos when someone hasn't prepared for a fall but only got lucky. Sorry, I did not jump off a ladder to test this for you, although I have all the confidence in the world in this product which is OSHA and ANSI certified. The bag it comes in is handy and keeps both parts together and I read you can have the bag and or harness personalized with your logo ( I don't know the additional cost).

First...I recommend this to anyone that uses a lift, gets up on a roof and so on. You hope to never have to rely on a safety device saving you from a fall and potentially saving your life from that fall and that's why it is always recommended. This one is a good quality with good stitching (key to fall protection harnesses) and the strap material is great. The buckle is simple and lanyard is heavy with quality snap hooks. It is certainly not all that comfortable on especially since there is no padding but it is lightweight. I am a medium build at 5'10" and 200lbs and it fits nice. The 310 lb rating is good enough to carry additional items that may add weight so long as the user and extra load do not exceed 310 lbs. I am using this at work since I have been required to go rooftop in DC to field verify roof condition and structural components for rehab projects on older multi-story structures. Better safe than sorry and I feel this will at the very least, be plenty effective if I should ever be faced with a fall. I am keeping this one with me at all times for that moment I need it and one is not provided.

Was as expected, took a bit of time to figure out harness fitment and had to purchase shorter non shock absorbing lanyard. Haven't had the opportunity to utilize it yet. Hopefully will never get to find out how well it performs under load. Does meet OSHA requirements for my application.

  • Safety first, but comfort is a close second with this harness

The Werner Upgear aerial kit with basewear std harness and 6ft decoil lanyard is surprisingly comfortable. I have used harnesses on numerous occasions and have always thought that I was going to die just wearing the thing, from the discomfort of how it fit and was cutting off circulation to extremities. This harness was surprisingly comfortable for a harness. The left over slack from adjustments have straps keep them up and not just flopping around. I did not test the decoil cord but it has heavy duty hardware, and I would expect it to work well. I got this harness because it was always a pain to use one that is shared by several people and have to spend several minutes trying to adjust it to somewhat fit you. Having one of your own is nice for many reasons, you know where it is, you know the condition it is in, its always set up to fit you, just to name a few things. It also has a hook so you can clip on the lanyard when you are not connected for safety (so it isn't dragging behind you). For the price, it doesn't make sense to not have your own.
