Purchased for use on a Werner MT-22 multi-ladder. Had to drill holes through the side ladder rails to install the two mounting rails (per Werner instructions). Caught me slightly by surprise when they specified drilling those holes with an 11/32" drill bit (I didn't have that size). I drilled them with a 5/16" drill bit then ground them out a bit w/ a rotary tool and all was good. End result was an adjustable leg that I can adjust up/down using a foot on that side of the ladder while I manipulate the ladder with both hands... yielding a very stable ladder footing. Happy.
Today I purchased the 32' Werner aluminum extension ladder D1300 series, along with these leg levelers.
It took me about 20-25 minutes to install the brackets onto the ladder (you need a drill, metal drill bit size 11/32", tape measure, 1/2" socket, ratchet, marker, a center punch, 0-40ft/lb. torque wrench (optional) and some basic shop/mechanic know-how). Sequence of install is measure, mark, check measurements on marks, line up braces, if good to go...center punch middle of marks, then begin to drill, once holes are drilled glue (provided) spacers to braces and line up...then insert bolt, washers and lock nut and tighten. once hand tightened instructions recommend a 9 ft/lb. tighten.
Please pay attention to what type of ladder you have so as to match the application of this item to your respective ladder. It works on four different type of ladders...rung and plate, direct swage with bracing, direct swage w/o bracing "which is the D1300 model", and the telescoping multi-ladder. Applicability to your ladder can be found in the product description area.
After installing the braces, the fastening of the leg leveler is cakewalk. It literally takes 5 seconds to attach and extend and just as much time to take off. It is very sturdy. I extended my ladder to 25 feet on uneven ground and climbed to the top...no wobbling, shifting or any kind of weakness or instability indicated. Sturdy construction with heavy duty metal spring and metal geared teeth. Also has locking pin for added safety after the press lock engages. The step down lever makes it that much more easy to use... don't have to bend over to extend leg, just flip lever outward and step on it to extend leg...that easy! And to retract leg all you have to do is tap the top lever and it will retract. Simplistic and solid. A little pricey but definitely well worth it. Extends to about 8.5" more as advertised.
Pictures attached show about a 4" high step.
