I needed an 8 foot step ladder as my house has 12 and 13 foot ceilings and a lot of recessed lighting. I'm a big guy and wanted a good sturdy ladder with a 300+ lb capacity. This ladder is the perfect fit. The right height, the right capacity and it's not very heavy. The rubber pads on the bottoms of the legs protect the floor and the tray and tool slots on the top are helpful. When installing a ceiling fan, I found myself on the rung second from the top for some of the wiring and I felt secure on this ladder.

  • Solid, Sturdy, Built for a Big Man
  • January 28, 2014

While this ladder is slightly heavier than ladders I have used in the past, I know that this is a result of its heavy duty construction to hold 300 lbs, instead of the typical less expensive ladders that often had weight ratings as low as 200 lbs. I felt secure on this ladder as I climbed to replace light fixtures in my home that needed an 8' ladder to reach due to my elevated ceilings. Steady, no shaking, and I weigh more than the 300 lbs so if it will hold me rock solid it should hold anyone.

  • A sturdy platform for pruning tall hedges
  • April 02, 2013

I needed a stepladder for pruning tall hedges, and this Werner 12-footer is perfect. Solid and sturdy, wide enough at the base but not too wide. Only downside is its weight ... it's a little hard for me to maneuver in close quarters. I've rented an aluminum ladder in the past ... lighter, but too wide at the base and just not as confidence-inspiring on top.

I was planning to buy the Werner one grade down from this one. But once I got to the store, I quickly realized that the 250# blue model has the hinges on the exterior of the ladder. And when I closed it, the hinge would sometimes protrude out from the ladder and had to be physically put back in place. This seemed like a poor design. Would probably be fine for the occasional home use, but I suspect the hinges would tweak under repeated commercial use. This orange 300# model has the hinges on the inside of the ladder and they felt sturdier. The hinges also seemed to open and close much smoother. For an extra ten bucks, that seemed worth it to me. Great ladder for the price. Seems like it will last me a very long time.

I PURCHASED THIS LADDER TO BUILD MY WIFE A TIER WHERE SHE COULD DISPLAY A CHRISTMAS VILLAGE. THIS LADDER SERVED IT'S PURPOSE AS IT WAS LIGHT, YET STURDY ENOUGH TO HOLD THE MANY DIFFERENT SIZE VILLAGES WHILE ALLOWING ACCESS TO THE CORDS AND EXTENTIONS.

I have one of these at work and after looking around a bit I decided I wanted the same kind at home. This ladder is really sturdy and well made. All the moving joints are tight and there is no wiggle in the ladder. I feel safe using this ladder and I like the fact that it is not too heavy. 6 feet is the perfect length and the tool holes on the top are really useful. It may look a bit expensive but I recommend this ladder. It will last for many years!

This is probably the tallest ladder that one person can safely handle. It is durable, steady on the recommended last rung, and somewhat easy to manage.

The ladder is light and strong. It needs a shelf that used to be common on step ladders to hold paint pails etc.

I bought a Werner 12 foot ladder twelve years ago when we moved into a house that had 18 foot ceilings and I realized that I didn't have a ladder that was tall enough to reach the top of the twelve foot Christmas tree I had just bought. It has held up perfectly over the years with no issue. This year I realized that I needed to replace my old no name/cheap 6 foot aluminum ladder that had bent and twisted over the years (and that I fell off of last year, luckily not getting hurt). I decided to stick with Werner since they have done me so well and got this 6 foot. Worked perfectly for me, and is much more sturdy and safe than an aluminum ladder. My wife even trusts my 14 and 16 year old boys with this ladder, so you know that it is sturdy.

  • Great Ladder!

Let's face it...we are not all 180 pound works of wonder and perfect fitness...HA! That being said, I am about 250 and I need a ladder I can trust. I shopped around a bit and decided that if I was going to buy a ladder, it best be strong, made well and most of all - give me the security I needed to feel to climb up it. This ladder hit the mark on the money. It is strong, steady and it even feels secure as you climb it. I have used it several times since I bought it and I absolutely love it! The best part of it - the top has different attachment points for a variety of different things. I bought the utility hooks and a bucket. They are great to have also! The top of the ladder also has a tray to keep small things and a place to hook your drill, or other tool. I love this ladder! I will be getting one of the 10 footers soon and I know where I will be going for it and what the brand will be! It is great!
