Like any tool, it took a little getting used to. But you have to think of the alternative-- you could also have painted by hand and all the mistakes that route takes. Good purchase!

I purchased the Wagner 350 paint sprayer to re-stain/paint our 40 year old wood deck that has a LOT of spindles, and lattice around the bottom. In the past I used a brush to paint them (spindles), but it took about 6 hours to do. I had high hopes that this sprayer would work easier and faster, and I was not disappointed. It took about an hour 1/2 to complete. It was easy to assemble, and clean up, and only used about 3/4 of the paint in the reservoir for all the work it covered.

Bought this to re-stain our huge play structure. It was a big project but this sprayer made it relatively easy. All the controls are great and allow you to quickly adjust how much you’re spraying and the pattern. It would have taken 10x as long with a brush and would have been a real nightmare. I used Flood CWF-UV Natural which I also highly recommend if you want some protection for the wood but minimal color and easy cleanup.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I really liked the Control Stainer 350. It is very easy to use and get great results. The sprayer is very easy to clean. I like the ease of operation also. The set up is very simple. I stained a very large deck and it came out great. The flow was even and got in to the cracks between the deck boards very well. I like the very low over spray. I also used it on a smaller project staining some outside furniture. It worked well and clean up was very easy.

Easy to use and the spraying is wonderful. The cleaning after spraying is a pain in the butt.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This machine is primarily for stains, but used it to paint a portion of my garage. i only painted a portion because my arm was getting tired. in switched to a roller, but i used this machine to finish off the areas the roller couldn’t. Overall this machine was easy to assemble, easy to clean. a part of me wishes that the reservoir came as a waist mounted feature to relieve the arms from carrying the entire assembly with the paint.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I tackled a big project with this stainer....my cabin up north. I used 10 gallons of stain(applying 2 coats), one quart at a time. It took awhile, but surely saved me time from brushing or rolling the stain on. The Control Stainer350 really worked well. It applied the stain evenly and with a consistent volume. I obviously wish it had a larger capacity container or the ability to draw the stain directly from the 5 gallon pail, but it performed like a champ. The material flow control range of 1 - 12 was hard to tell the difference between the setting so I set it in the middle on 6 and moved forward. I also left the width control on narrow for the whole job.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] If you want to stain your deck and outside furniture, the Wagner Control Stainer 350 HVLP is the only way to go; it applies stains with speed and consistency and is easy to use. You can adjust the spray pattern with a quick turn of the adjustment ring, allowing you to spray from horizontal to vertical and narrow to wide, plus no mess or runs, and I barely had to mask anything, just point and spray. It’s a great option to have when tackling any staining project, achieving an excellent finish on decks, outside furniture, fences, and many more DIY projects. I estimate I saved at least 8 hours of painting using the Wagner; I will never again start a staining project without using the Wagner, excellent value for money Plus, as an added bonus, the cleanup was quick and easy

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Easy to handle. I was hoping that this tool would be useful for small jobs, too. It was. Output/coverage is even, controllable. No splattering. No pooling or drips. Turbine is powerful and during "idle" mode, has good air flow which helps with drying. Clean up was easy ,even with oil-based stain. Mineral spirits, gloves and paper towels were all that was needed. as the sprayer disassembles easily. Can't wait to use it when I replace my fence (can't afford it yet with the skyrocketing wood prices! )

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is my second product that I’ve purchased from Wagner and I’m really pleased with the results. I have the Wagner Control Pro 130 sprayer, but I wanted something handheld that I could use exclusively for staining. The ControlStainer350 fit the bill and I was surprised how light it is. The light weight allows me to be more accurate with the sprayer for a longer period of time and there is no guessing how much stain is left with the see through tank, Cleaning up is super easy too. Definitely recommend this sprayer to anyone for small to medium jobs.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have been staining my fence and deck for years with a brush. It takes at least a full day of work and I find myself putting it off because I hate doing it. I picked up a Wagner Control Stainer 350 really hoping that it could shorten the amount of time to do the work and also save my back from bending over with a brush the entire day. Taking the Control Stainer out of the box, I read the instructions which were straight forward and was able to figure things out quickly with attaching the spray nozzle and container to the front of the unit. I use a semi-transparent stain and I didn't have to dilute it at all, I just dumped it straight into the cup. Wagner sent a large paper with the sprayer to test the spray pattern and get the amount of stain being sprayed dialed in. I have never used anything like this so I was a little hesitant at first and that was quickly changed to surprise when I saw how easy it was to use. It took another minute to get the correct setting for the amount of stain I wanted to apply with the dial you can turn on top of the unit and then I was able to start moving along. It applied a smooth even coat and I couldn't believe how fast and easy it was. I was able to do each section of the fence in about 1 minute which would take me about 15 minutes with a brush. The nozzle on the front can be turned to spray a narrow or wide spray. I used the narrow spray to get the top 2x4 on the fence and then turned it to the wide spray for the rest of the fence. I saved myself hours of work and had no problems with my back because it was so much easier and faster than a brush. By the time I got to my deck, I felt like a pro using it and got the deck done in no time at all. The unit disassembles so that you can get everything inside of it clean. I am very picky with taking care of my tools and was worried that it would take a while to clean up after use, but they made it so easy to take it apart and soak everything that it was a breeze. I highly recommend this to anyone that is tired of staining all of their outside wood with a brush. My only regret is that I didn't use one sooner.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Today I finally got to try out my new Wagner Control Stainer 350. My wife and I have been putting up a privacy fence for several months and she was adamant about having it stained. I have used paint sprayers and wasn’t happy with them at all. Either they were very loud or instead of spraying paint, they spit paint. Over the last couple of days, I read the instructions more than once to make sure I was comfortable with the sprayer and how it worked. It was real easy to assemble, and as the instructions indicated I first tried it out with water. I filled the container with stain and made all the settings as per instructions. I was pleasantly surprised how simple it was to work with. It took me about ten minutes to stain two and a half sections of fence. At first I thought it was a little too heavy but quickly got used to that. It was very easy to use and did an excellent job. It was not as loud as I thought it would be and the adjustments that you can make on the tip as well as the amount of stain that will be applied makes the job look great. I only have one small complaint, and that is the placement of the on/off switch. My hands are big, and a few times I hit the switch and turned the sprayer off. Cleanup was a breeze, the sprayer comes apart into several pieces and I washed them with warm soapy water and rinsed them off and that was it. The experience I had with the stainer 350 was far better than any other sprayer I have used in the past. I give this sprayer a 10 out of 10 and would highly recommend it to anyone looking to stain a fence or deck.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received the Wagner Control Stainer 350 for review the first week in July 2021 and this past weekend was able to put it through its paces and it passed with flying colors!!! Although as the name states “Stainer” I was spraying latex paint (no thinning) to freshen up a 120 year old family farmhouse and some outbuildings. This product worked flawlessly and cleaned up with ease. As you can see in the attached before and after pictures, everything was pressure washed the first day and sprayed the next day. I can’t imagine the number of hours it would have taken to paint the porch, outbuildings and chimneys with a brush or a roller. Also, the paint sprayed on evenly and smoothly whether it was old cinder blocks (chimneys and smokehouse) or the wooden front porch. I cannot stress enough NO LINES, NO BRUSH marks!!! In all the only “con” if any that I can report is that the unit gets heavy to the extended arm when painting chimneys from a ladder 20 feet off the ground. But to my knowledge, this Control Stainer 350 sprayer wasn’t designed for that application.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] When set to spray volume 1-3, it was difficult to press the trigger and start painting. The turbine is constantly running once the power switch is set to on. I thought it only runs when the trigger is pressed. It is noisy, wear hearing protectors. It does get heavy after a while of holding. Maybe a flex tubing with a can cap be added and inserted into a paint can. It was easy to clean. I didn’t do a good job on an long exterior wall, but was able to to do a better job on another short wall. I used a water based exterior stain.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is an excellent sprayer for first time users or weekend DIYers. I built a cabinet just to give this thing a try, so there are pros and a few cons but if you follow the instructions you will have more pros. First off, do not feel you need to be a professional to stain or paint with a this sprayer. This model (Control Stainer 350) is well suited for many tasks and anyone, especially beginners, would benefit from this model. It is a bit on the heavier side but that comes with any sprayer that has a pump built in to it. The nozzle is adjustable to spray vertical or horizontal and that definitely came in handy on this project. You can also choose from a wide or narrow spray with a simple twist by the nozzle. The trigger is nice but if you are going to use it in a mist spray I can see how one may become frustrated as the trigger is a little hard to pull. Also the size of the handle and distance to trigger seems to be made for larger hands. I have large hands so it was not a problem for me but if you have small hands be aware of this and adjust accordingly. Before you begin your project be sure to do some test sprays. The consistency of your stain will make a difference. I started with stain too thick and it began to sputter. After correcting this, it worked well. Also take your time. Rushing into a project with this sprayer will not give the intended results. In the photos you can see I stained one backboard by hand and another with the sprayer. Initially, it applied the stain like paint and did not allow the grain to show through. You will experience this if you do not take the time to make the adjustment necessary to achieve good results. After fine tuning the nozzle and spray, you can see the final result. Cleaning this sprayer is a breeze. I really appreciate how the entire spray portion disconnects from the pump and you can completely disassemble it. The power cord is only about a foot long so an extension cord is necessary in most situations. Overall I'm pretty happy with this sprayer and plan to use it again.

This sprayer was easy to use. I used it to spray trim around my house then adjusted the spray easily to do my shutters no mess no runs barely had to mask anything point on spray pattern

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] What can I say? Wagner makes excellent painting products and the control stainer is no different. I had to stain some new railings and a few shelves in my house a dark red and this made quick work of it. Just required some rinsing afterwards. The plus side of using it is no more brushes that you need to throw away and it washes up pretty quick. If it ever breaks in the future you can be sure I'll go get another one.

I used the sprayer to update an old swing set into a modern look. The sprayer is a little loud, which I don't mind since it's for outside use. There not much over spray cast off, I got the job done in no time.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] After receiving my Wagner sprayer I found the packaging of the product very easy to remove from the box. Assembly of the sprayer was quick and easy and the instructions were very easy to follow. I had 3 cedar blocks that needed to be stained and The project was done in 10 minutes . The first thing I did was to find my perfect spray pattern and pressure. Than I started to spray, the spray Gun had a good balance and the grip of the sprayer felt good in the hand. It was not too heavy for me. Cleaning of the sprayer was not difficult. I would highly recommend wearing a mask and Goggles with any sprayable Apparatus. I would highly recommend this product for home improvements.

If you want to paint like a professional, then this is the way to go. Instructions are easy and simply to follow. Clean up is a breeze and that is one of the draws to owning this product. You literally can have everything cleaned up in five minutes or less. The only thing that I would suggest is maybe including a carry case or bag that would help store the product.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I used the Wagner Control Stainer 350 to stain a 3ft x 6ft privacy fence test panel before I take on staining the actual fence. First I will say that the instructions are very clear but this is coming from someone who has used many painters/stainers before. As for actual use of the control stainer, it couldn't be any easier. I started with the lowest setting for product flow and increased until it was just right all while spraying on cardboard I had laying around. You can stain a lot of area in a very fast time and that is a major plus. Now the part I dread the most is cleanup and this is where the Wagner Control Stainer 350 shines. The instructions are very detailed and the parts come off the sprayer easily. It took me maybe a whole 10 minutes to tear it down, clean it and put everything back together. To finish I have to say i'm pretty impressed with the Control Stainer.

The panels were taking me about an hour a piece. I was able to complete eight panels in 2.5 hours. And the finish turned out as well as the brushed panels. I wish I would have used the Stainer sooner. I will never use anything else for big staining projects. It was easy to use and easy to clean up.
