A word of caution, the 1-3/4in refers to the diameter...
A word of caution, the 1-3/4in refers to the diameter of the spiral part that mixes the paint. It seems obvious in retrospect but I didn't know what that meant before I ordered and I got seduced by the low price. With that in mind, it will work fine for 1-2 gallons but I think it is too small to mix 5-gal of paint. It just takes a while and doesn't seem as well mixed as it should. Construction is good though.

Way too small
I bought this because it states it's a mixer for 1-5 gallons. There was absolutely no whirlpool/vortex effect in the less than 1 gallon I of paint I had left. The whirlpool/vortex effect was there in water but this thing couldn't do it in paint. No wonder the price was so low. WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY.
