Customer Reviews for Westinghouse 40V String Trimmer, Hedge Trimmer, and Leaf Blower with 40V 2.0 Ah Battery and Battery Charger

I received the trimmer as a gift a few weeks ago. I had a gas trimmer, but I was the only one that could use it due to the weight (and noise). It also was a chore to start as well as maintain. Hence, the battery trimmer...quieter, easier to maintain, and significantly lighter. My wife and 14 year old could use the trimmer with ease. I have a yard that is about an acre and 3/4 of it is trimmable. I was able to trim basically 75% of my single yard on a battery charge. As I get used to using it, I should be able to do the entire yard. The trimmer was able to cut most of the grass without issue. It does struggle a bit on very thick grass and brushy type weeds. So things I will need to get used to: Charging batteries. Never had to charge them and I have to now. That being said, they charged very quickly. My old trimmer shot grass everywhere and the way the guard was set up, I could trim any which direction [see photo]. The guard is set up differently, so I need to adjust my "swing." Not a big deal at all. After a few minutes, not an issue. The noise level...I never realized how loud gas trimmer were until my son came to check it out the new trimmer and I could hear him just fine. That is quite nice also. The string...it is lighter than what I am used to and as mentioned, the trimmer struggles on thicker grass and brushy type weeds..again not a big deal because since other people can use it and maintaining the yard will be easier to do. The apparent best part...after I was finished with the yard, my kids commented that I wasn't covered in grass and didn't smell like gas. I didn't need to shower and change before sitting down to dinner. They were extremely happy about that. The edger function...Not sure about it as of yet. Our ground has been wet and so it did not seem to work well along the sidewalk. Not a dealbreaker as that is not the main reason for the purchase. Will try again when the ground is drier. So that being said, after a couple of uses, I am very pleased. If anything changes, I will post an update.

I received this as a Christmas present with several other Westinghouse battery operated yard tools. Very pleased with the performance.

Pretty nice package. Hedge trimmer works great. String trimmer also works great, the ability to switch it to edge trimmer mode is great. Blower is ok for light use. For heavier duty use, probably a wired electric or gas powered blower would be better.

Problem no one sells a replacement spool for the 40v dual string. Is there someone out there that is compatible?

I bought this tool last November and have had only limited use since then, but it has worked great for trimming around my landscape blocks and walkways. Now that the weather is becoming a little more enjoyable we'll be using it much more.

Most battery blowers are useless. This works as well as gas. I haven't used the other pieces yet, but I suspect the battery power will make them great.

Great combo value. All essential gardening tools to help keep your garden in immaculate condition.

Its winter time and haven't been able to use it yet. I did buy 2 extra batteries and there is an issue with the battery power level button. You have to press the button with everything you have to see the battery level.

First battery powered yard tools I have owned. Not disappointed. Works great! I would highly recommend the products.

Looking forward to trying this equipment out once the weather warms up. No real use yet but I bought this because the trimmer has a wheel for use as an edger

This electric string trimmer has been a great addition to my set of landscaping equipment. It replaced a gas trimmer and I much prefer this style due to the reduction in noise as well as easy of operating i.e. starting it up and maintenance.

Trimmer did not include instructions for hand grip. easy set up. Buy an extra battery.

I bought this as a request from the wife. She wanted a lightweight string trimmer so she could help out in the yard. Just what we needed.

We've only used the hedge trimmer & blower so far but both performed great. Once we cut the grass, we'll use the string trimmer to edge our driveway & walkways.

I am writing this review just because I am so dissapointed that it is been over 3 months and still can not purchase Dual Feed 0.065" Trimmer Line for 40VMAX+ Weed Wacker. What the point to buy and equipment if you can not supply the accessories to make it works

Great value for the money. Wish the turbo button on the leaf blower wasn't so hard to hold down.

Bought it a few weeks ago as I needed a more powerful blower and trimmer. This just blows anything else I have had out of the work. Very happy with the results

I bought the set in the spring and it greatly reduced my time doing lawn and eliminated the purchase of gas and/or running extension cords.

After reading loads of reviews on different trimmers I decided on the Westinghouse 40v. As soon as I received it, I charged up the battery and gave it a try. The power is amazing! It will take a bit of getting used to only because I haven't done my own lawn in years. But this will work exceptionally well for my purposes. Very happy with my purchase.

Great blower and gets the job done. My only complaint is the 40V spools for this are very hard to find.

My new weeder works well! 40v battery is good reserve for quick weeding and edging. Not very heavy and is easy to manuever. Satisfied customer.

We purchased this item hoping the battery power would allow for gas-like results. Over a year later, we're sure glad we did! The head-swivel, battery duration, and power have all exceeded our expectations. We would recommend this product without hesitation!

I've never owned a battery operated trimmer before. I am very pleased with the lightweight, and ease of handling. It was easy to assemble. If your tired of electrical extension cords are hard to start gas trimmers, this beats them all.
