I picked up 6 of these for my living room. These are 40watt with the 2,700 light temperature. My wife likes the warm light colors so I thought I'd give it a go. Well, the light stays the exact same color if it is full bright or full dim. I never realized that an incandescent changes the color temperature so dramatically as it dims. So this is exactly what the box says throughout the full dimming spectrum. We like the much warmer color when dim in the living room for movies and whatnot. Also, the living room is on an incandescent dimmer and it worked perfectly with that Lutron dimmer. Switched these to the laundry room. I have a Lutron dimmer there too, but it is rated for LED. One of these bulbs worked perfectly and one made a significant buzzing noise that got louder the brighter it went... It did not do that on the incandescent dimmer in the other room nor did it do that in an on-off lamp. Only on the Lutron dimmer that was rated for LED. It still dimmed, actually dimmed more than the other dimmer did, but made too much noise. So I am using these in a couple lamps and I have a couple spare. The color spectrum is nice, the same as a fully lit incandescent. The brightness is good, actually a smidge brighter than the 40w incandescent it is replacing. Very low power consumption too and looks good. I can't say if the noise on the LED Dimmer was the dimmer or the bulb. But that same bulb is working fine in a non-dimmer fixture and it did work fine with no noise in the incandescent dimmer fixtures.

These Westinghouse light bulbs in soft white give off a pleasing light comparable to an incandescent bulb. These bulbs are also rated as dimmable, and can be used in enclosed fixtures, and also in outdoor applications like porch light fixtures. The package states it is suitable for damp locations when used in an outdoor rated fixture, and the minimum starting temperature is -4 degrees Fahrenheit. It has a warm light appearance, and is rated at 2700 k. It gives off a nice warm light that enhances your home environment, and is relaxing as opposed to light bulbs that give off a cooler, brighter light. Also with the classic light bulb shape, it doesn't look weird in applications like ceiling fans where the bulb is exposed, like the curly-Q fluorescent bulbs. The bulbs are energy star rated, and use 6.5 watts. Replacing your standard bulbs or even CFL bulbs will help to save money on your electric bill. I've found there is really no compromise in light quality by switching all my bulbs in my house out to LED bulbs. Energy savings and lighting quality 5 stars- definitely recommend!

I received my six pack of Westinghouse 40-watt equivalent LED bulbs today, they came very well packed. They have a standard base (A-19 medium base) so they will fit nicely in my patio light fixtures. I needed bulbs that would work in an enclosed light fixture and an outdoor location, these bulbs fit the application perfectly. The light they give off is a soft white and they only use 6.5 watts which is good because I have six patio lamp fixtures. I am very pleased with the performance of these LED bulbs.

The Westinghouse all purpose 40W Dimmable LED ligt bulb fits most of the light fixtures and is energy star. It states that it will last twenty-two years. I hope it will last longer that the older light bulbs along with saving energy. I have multiple lights all through the house used as accent lights and have replaced the older bulbs with these LED.

I replaced 5 bulbs in stand up lamp fixture in a bedroom (primary light source) with these. Replacing 5 - 40W incandescent bulbs with these 6.5W LEDs = much lower power usage, and better light. Energy savings are great - 30W vs 200W If the light is used 2 hours/day; (on full 5 bulbs at 100%) @ 2 hours a day and at my rate of 0.15/kWh; saves me $15~18 a year on electricity cost They are a soft white LEDs - box indicated 2700K color range, and dimmable. With an expected life over 20 years (numbers on the box state 25,000 hours). Only time will tell.. My wife is good with the color rendering. They are not the harsh / daylight white type.

I would only recommend this product to anyone who has updated, "compatible" dimmer switches. These LED bulbs did not work for me with the switch I have, so that's not necessarily the fault of the product. The bulbs gave off a humming sound...most likely an impedance issue. However, I have successfully used the Home Depot brand bulbs (EcoSmart) with similar dimmers switches without incident. I contacted Westinghouse to secure a list of compatible dimmers. Unfortunately, the list they sent was for incandescent bulbs only, which was of no use to me. I returned the bulbs. I just can't spend that much time researching lightbulbs and dimmer switches.
