I was so excited to find a microwave that could fit above my stove. The traditional microwave/range hoods out there were too big to fit under my cabinet. I’ve only had it a few days but so far love it. My husband and father installed it. They said it wasn’t super easy to install but they managed. The microwave is quiet and cooks as it should. It looks great and I’m so happy to have the extra counter space back that the old microwave was taking up!

Bought this microwave for the basement because we had little counter space. Decided to buy one for the main kitchen a year later. Love that we gained counter space. Now that I’m using the microwave daily, there are two things to keep in mind. You need more time to heat things up as it it’s only 900 watts compared to my 1200 watt previous microwave and secondly, the ring that rotates the plate keeps moving off the track. Very annoying. Why is this ring triangular and so small compared to the plate size?

The 2 Not-So-Great things about this low-profile microwave / range hood: * Underside LED Lights are not quite bright enough. The light should be 2x or 3x as bright. * Exhaust fan is effective at moving smoke/steam at all settings (High, Med, Med-Low, and Low), but the only setting that is tolerable (noise-wise) is "Low". It would have been nice if Whirlpool included a "Quiet / Ultra Low" mode that ran slow enough to be barely audible, yet still create a negative pressure over the stove to pull out any light steam/smoke. What's Great about this microwave: * Vents steam/smoke very well * Energy efficient in standby mode (~0.9 watts) * The "Add 30 seconds / Start button" allows you to just start the microwave adding 30 seconds at a time. Super easy to operate. Things to know about the microwave: * The buttons on the oven are inconsistent. The 2 buttons on the left side (fan and light) and the 3 buttons on the right side (start, cancel, open door) are CAPACITIVE touch. Like your smartphone. In contrast, the buttons behind the door (0-9 keypad, clock, etc.) are an actual touchpad which you need to push a little harder on and depress the button. (It's not capacitive touch like the other buttons.) Until I figured out this difference in the buttons, I was vaguely confused why some of my button presses weren't registering all the time. Despite the quirks of this microwave, I generally like it.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love the smaller profile, but if I was any shorter (5'4")I'd have trouble accessing this microwave above the stove. It does allow me to see more of what's cooking on the stovetop. Light and fan are both bright and powerful. I don't like that you have to open the door to access the numbers to set time or choose power. If you're heating something, that works, but even to set the timer, you have to open the door! The lack of a handle to open the door results in many fingerprints on the front of the microwave close to the "open" button. But the streamlined profile (shorter in height - but more depth) is very nice!

The one complaint I have is the light..it is very dim...really is as no use and we are trying to figure out how to add some additional lighting. The microwave extends over the range so the lighting is important. Other than the light issue everything else is great!!!

The cabinet above our stove was designed for a shallow range hood so a conventional microwave hung too low over the stove and obstructed the view of the controls. This microwave with its shallow design fixes this problem. Although it is shallow in height, we are able to meet most of our microwave needs. Love it.

I didn’t want to have a microwave over the stove but it was the best option with my kitchen design. I decided to go with the low profile Whirlpool and it looks great and is very easy to use. The only potential negative it would be hard to reach for people who are not very tall. I am 5’5” and it is fine for me. My daughter is 5’1” and she would have a hard time reaching it. I got it is black stainless and it looks great in my black and white kitchen.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Although fingerprint resistant is far from what I'd call this microwave, it is so sleek and functional that I don't mind having to wipe it down regularly. The fan is outstanding, the light gives a warm glow and has the dimmer setting that's perfect for an overnight kitchen light.

Love the 30 second button u can hit numerous times to heat up my tea. Looks great in our kitchen, we have had many compliments!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We ordered this microwave in October of 2020, and it finally arrived in December. We are glad we waited! This is a great space saving microwave. We have been enjoying the many features: I love that most of the buttons are covered by the door, there are many preset options, but I especially love that the sounds are quiet...great for anyone who tends toward Misophonia. If you want a loud ending beep, this is not the unit for you. Look close at the measurements, so you're not surprised when it arrives. It is not what people are used to seeing over a range.

The one downside for us is the time it is taking to adjust to its controls and settings since they are so different from our old 20 year old microwave.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We bought this microwave sight unseen over the phone during to Covid. We were leery about how it would look being on 10.5 inches in height. We were pleasantly happy and completely happy.

We remodeled our tiny kitchen and I wanted a small profile microwave to be able to get a larger cabinet. Wow! This microwave hit all the marks. It is deep so covers most of the stove which gives it the appearance of a range hood. The powerful fan takes care of all our ventilation needs even with it installed to be recirculating. It is large enough to cook all the things we make in it, including frozen veggies. We've even put a 3 inch high round casserole dish in it with it's 1 inch tall lid on. I've been recommending this to all my clients who have small spaces.

I've had this just over one year now. Overall I like this microwave a lot. Everyone had concerns about the low profile, but there is nothing in my kitchen I have been able to find that doesn't fit. Even large glass mixing bowls fit. As far as I am concerned, I don't understand why this is not the standard for over the range microwave ovens. However, we just recently noticed cracks forming around the edge of the door. As of right now, they are mostly cosmetic. But I have concerns that they will worsen and start flaking plastic. This would not bother me so much if it was not for the price point of this microwave. At this price, I expect better.

Low Profile: 5' 10"; 76 year-old senior has full view and use of the Whirlpool stove controls without the discomfort of bending down. In addition, nothing has been lost as to the shallower footprint relative to food preparation..... Ease of Use: Manual is very comprehensive. However this microwave is simple to use while being highly reliable. The appliance is solid with excellent features clearly indicating high quality Last - Thank you soooooo much Whirlpool. This microwave has been since purchase and is perfect for our kitchen and use.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love the features. The ease of using the presets, the sensing feature for optimal performance. It fits nicely over my electric range, and because its a low profile model there is plenty of height between the two. The fan and light modes have 4 levels which is great and i use med low most of the time. Its quiet.
