So far so good
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Took forever to get this since I wanted it in white. The first one was installed and promptly blew out the oven's lights and microwave's control panel. It took another month to get the replacement but it was installed by Whirlpool and I've had no problems so far but again it's only been 3 weeks. We use one or both of the components everyday and like the results. My husband loves the freezer to oven feature without preheating. I love the design and the way it dresses up my nearly 100 year old cottage.

    So I've been trying to hold off reviewing this item until I was able to get a cabinet veneer for the cabinet this gets installed, but unfortunately 4 months later the manufacturer of the veneer is sending damaged goods, so I'm going to review this wall oven based on the installation difficulty, features and build quality which I have already checked. So I received this product back in August 2017 and when I received it I checked it to make sure there was no damage from delivery. This was a more lengthy task of course with such a complex piece of equipment, but I was pleased finding it was perfect with no blemishes, scrapes, or any cosmetic defects. So for quality of build this product gets a 5 out of 5! I then had to read the installation instructions in the manual to determine exactly how the wall oven would need to be installed in my kitchen where it would be taking the place of our existing oven range. Now at first the average consumer may be over whelmed by the complex instructions for cabinet dimensions required for the wall oven to not only fit, but also for the cabinet to be sufficiently strong enough to hold the heavy wall oven combo unit. If you read carefully though, you will actually find that the specifications are pretty simple. The specs assume the use of 3/4 (.75) inch wood being used as the material. Where it shows 1.5" of space you can figure it is two pieces of wood on top of each other. The rest of the specs are easy after that. For my install, I don't have an existing cabinet on that wall of my kitchen at all, so I had the fun task of planning out the construction of the cabinet for the wall oven within the constraints of a space 40" deep x 32" wide and 80" tall. Fortunately this was just about perfect being more depth and height than needed and .5" more width than required. I used a website that allows you to input the dimensions of all parts you will be cutting out of a custom sized material and it will orient the pieces for the highest material use efficiency as well as tell you how much material is needed. I was able to buy just two pieces of 4' x 8' x 3/4" plywood to build my cabinet. Using precise cuts I got 97% use on one of the plywood boards, but this meant figuring in the saw blade width on my cuts, which the website had an option for. Once all the boards were cut, I pre-drilled the boards, then put in construction grade brass screws with beveled flat top heads with a torx drive bit. For placement in my kitchen, you can see the original stove was in a corner already, so I made use of the exterior wall and interior wall studs for reinforcement of the cabinet to ensure it was as stable as possible. Once the plywood was all assembled, I planned to apply the veneer skin to the outward face of the cabinet. In order to get the cleanest look on the veneer though, it is best to apply the veneer before moving the wall oven into the cabinet so that the veneer is at least partially underneath the metal edge of the oven. Once the oven is in the cabinet I was able to direct the electrical cable out the back of the cabinet and to the side to connect it directly to the electrical box in the wall behind the appliance. This part was pretty simple since I already had an electric oven range, so it was a matter of just removing the wall outlet plug and running the cable into the box and closing up the box with a blank plate. Lastly I turned my breaker back on for that outlet and screwed in the screws to hold the oven to the cabinet from the front of the unit. As far as installation difficulty, this one is variable depending on individual considerations and so I'm giving it a range of 3/5 - 5/5 for install difficulty. Regarding the features of the wall oven, this appliance is fully loaded with all the bells and whistles with the odd exception of not having a convection oven and convection microwave. I would have expected this on such a pricey appliance, though it doesn't necessarily make my valuation of the appliance lower. I'm not going to go over all the features since you can read all about them on the product page. The biggest features I'm excited about is the ability to scan UPC codes of frozen items into the app for the oven and remotely start the oven preheating. I can even take a frozen pizza, scan the UPC and the oven can automatically preheat and cook for the proper amount of time with no further input. For the high end features, this earned a 5 out of 5. Total score for this appliance is a 5 out of 5 stars!

    The Whirlpool 30 in. Electric Smart Wall Oven with Built-In Microwave and Touchscreen in Stainless Steel has good looks and up-to-date technology. As I unpacked the oven, I was pleased by the overall fit and finish of the doors and the surfaces both inside and outside. The microwave is not as wide as the oven, but there is still a lot of room for a variety of cookware. The oven has two wire racks which glided smoothly when I slid them in and out. I especially like the open space in the front center of each rack to allow you to get a firm grip on the rack. I have included a picture of the rack. I was disappointed that the lower racks do not pull out automatically when you open the door as I think that’s a nice feature to have. You connect your smartphone to the oven via Wi-Fi and the Whirlpool App and Google Assistant and even responds to voice commands! There are multiple settings to keep food warm, begin preheating remotely, adjust cooking times so frozen meals can go straight into the oven. This is a really neat oven for today’s cook who is comfortable with technology.

    Since 1911 Whirlpool has been manufacturing quality products and this 30 in. Electric Smart Wall Oven with Built-In Microwave and Touchscreen in Stainless Steel is just another fine example. I have owned many Whirlpool products throughout the last 40 years, but I think this Whirlpool product is a piece of electronic art. Upon unboxing, the workmanship is outstanding. The unit is solid and does not flex anywhere. The doors open effortlessly and the oven racks slide with ease. The microwave is huge! There are no sharp edges around the door areas which is a nice touch. The touch control panel is what makes this unit stand out. The operation is intuitive and designed with all family members in mind. There are many options and features that will require patience that one needs to consider when reviewing the user guides- But well worth the effort! This is a Smart appliance and in today's kitchens I feel this will compliment any design. I would like to offer some tips from my installation with this unit that I feel may help in one's planning. 1. This units color scheme will work with stainless steel kitchens and black appliance kitchens without having to replace every piece. Saves money while updating kitchen. 2. The Home Depot offers many wall oven cabinets in many colors and styles. The opening requirements 24 deep 30 wide and 41 5/16 are workable measurements. Tolerances are tight for the trim so careful fit is essential to a quality installation. Check your measurements carefully on existing wall openings. 3. This unit is extremely heavy and two men are needed to safely handle. I recommend leaving the unit sitting on the packaging base before sitting the unit in place. 4. The service wire to the oven is generously long enough to reach my service box in my cabinet. I then carefully tucked the cable as I was sliding the unit into place. No issues here. The installation instructions are well illustrated. Reference these often while planning the installation. 5. Trim kits are available with some wall cabinets to correct any spaces left during fit. 6. I am not going to list all the features since they are listed in the descriptions but I do recommend acquiring a tech savvy member in one's home to set up this appliance to the phone or tablet. Like most older adults, I am tech challenged and will need some younger assistance. Do not let this negatively influence your decision as I feel this is a user-friendly appliance with many useful features. I especially like the scan to cook feature and it works as described. I show this to everyone that sees this jewel. 7. I highly recommend purchasing the extended warranty on this high tech appliance for a piece of mind. Today's appliances are not your mothers appliances of yesterday, They are more expensive and electronically superior. The added protection is money well spent. I am still in awe with this 30 in. Electric Smart Wall Oven with Built-In Microwave and Touchscreen in Stainless Steel and the features are amazing. I highly recommend this Smart appliance and feel if it is in one's budget it will compliment any kitchen and be the talk piece. Whirlpool has once again set the standard for all the other producers in wall ovens to achieve. If you enjoy premium appliances this is a wise choice. Very pleased.

    Avoid!!
    This oven microwave combo came with my new construction home in 2019. Since then, it has been repaired multiple times and they replaced the entire unit once under warranty. The replacement one has all the same issues as the last. Microwave heats selectively. Oven sometimes will not turn off. Clock time adds minutes. Awful product. I am looking at replacements now and will avoid whirlpool and Kitchen aid completely. Very unfortunate as whirlpool was once know for their great products.

      Not sure yet on this technology
      [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This was installed as part of construction, so did not chose this system. Microwave portion is somewhat limited on auto reheat categories, had better selection with my old GE one. Oven is confusing to use especially when trying to change temperatures during a baking session when need to change lower temperature. Accidently turned off when I set the time and my cake came out gooey, realized the oven shut down during baking time.

        Worst Company and Product EVER
        Worst product and worst company ever. Do not buy any whirlpool products. Unit got stuck in a loop on the lock screen. Called technical support which it turns out they can only tell you to unplug it and plug it back in. Besides that there is no help, so I googled the issue which seems to be common requires a part that is almost as much as buying a whole new unit. I have been trying to deal with the issue for over a year now and you need to use 3rd party companies because Whirlpool cannot help you.

                  [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The touchscreen is often unresponsive to touch or initiates an unwanted actuon(turning in the oven light when you want to turn on the oven). Clock runs fast. While the concept of an integrated microwave and oven is nice, looking ahead, one of those 2 components will fail which means replacing both. Also, it takes the oven a long time to preheat.

                      Awful Product
                      This is an awful device. The oven will not turn off on its own. We let it shut/cool down on its own, but after an hour, we have to flip the breaker to kill power to it. The microwave does not count down the time. We set a time ex. 30 seconds, and it stays on 30 and just continues to run. Even after we turn off the microwave, it will hold this time of 30 seconds for example and doesn't change. We have to reset the oven to remove this time. I do not recommend this product.

                        Awful oven; tech at its worst
                        This combo oven is the worst part of our new home. The oven itself is so wildly out of temp, that even though I’ve adjusted the temp offset, it’s still 50 degrees too hot. Burns EVERYTHING. I’ve plotted the temp rise on this oven, and what it’s doing is overshooting the temp by 50 degrees, then turning off, cooling to about 50 degrees below the set temp, and then turning on. Then it takes the average, and yeah, of course it’s spot on. But it’s only the correct temperature for a very short period of time. AWFUL. Then, the microwave. It’s definitely underpowered. But, perhaps worst of all, is the awful user interface. So many presses on a slow, inaccurate touch screen to do literally EVERYTHING. I recommend purchasing *anything* else.

                          Lots of functionality

                            Absolute garbage. The touchscreen is pure trash. Having to press a button 5 times before it registers the click. Other times it beeps as if you pressed a button but nothing happens. Even the clock can't maintain time. After 2 weeks it's 10 minutes off from the actual time.

It is nice but I am having a problem with keeping the time on the appliance. I called to talk to someone there and finally gave up. She had 100,000 questions for me even to talk to me. I had a simple question. Also, I get an error, lost energy.

It’s easy to program and we didn’t need to bend over to access the oven. It would be nice if it was a wee bit bigger ( a 20lb turkey does fit). We don’t cook turkeys everyday. Very satisfied with the selection of the Whirlpool combo.

                                          Do Not Buy This Model
                                          You will regret buying this model. I brought this unit almost 1 year ago to replace an older Whirlpool model that served me well for many years. This model is horrible. Microwave oven started giving me problems within a few months. Believe me, read all the reviews on Whirlpools website about this particular model before you buy.
