    Simply Whirlpool: Tried and True
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My wife and I have owned and used Whirlpool since we bought our first home together many years ago. My parents owned Whirlpool appliances while I was growing up. Neither they, nor I, have ever experienced an issue with Whirlpool products. Whirlpool works flawlessly for us. Why would we change our loyalty?

      LOVE THE LINT TRAP
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Our whole family loves the new dryer. We got a base as well to make it easier to load and unload. I wish it had an interior light which I think it should have considering the price.

Very nice looking and once I figured out the controls, it works great. But for the price, it should have an interior light, which it doesn't. I installed mine on a base to make it easier to load and unload.

            Water leaks from the door
You have to put plenty of clothes when using the steam refresh cycle and even with 6 shirts water is coming out of the door. I have called corbeil where i bought it cause it was brand new, i received it on may 27 and the technician came 4 days later to tell us it was normal to put towel in the dryers and more clothes when using that cycle.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The dryer works great. However, the door size is just a bit bigger than my old dryer. I can no longer place my laundry basket on the floor beneath the door and it will open, even with the foot pegs all the way extended in the base. This seems like a cosmetic design that hurts the daily function of my laundry routine. Off to purchase shorter laundry baskets...

                            Quality & Quiet!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We purchased our front load dryer about a month ago and it has not disappointed us thus far! It is quiet, efficient, and we love the sleek appearance. The smallest critique I can offer is that although I clean the lint trap after every cycle, I notice that a devent amount of lint still finds its way in that area where the lint trap stays. I know keeping your lint trap clean after every use is important for efficiency and preventing future problems, so if you invest in this dryer just be mindful of doing your best to keep as much lint out of that area as possible!

This is the Whirlpool electric dryer, model WED6620HC, in Chrome Shadow (nice looking dryer, if you care about that). It can be stacked or used free-standing. It has some very cool features, such as the ability to inject steam to minimize static and wrinkles. Note that, to use the steam feature, you must connect a water line through a washing machine type hose (garden hose connectors). Steam kits come with a Y splitter and two hoses so you can attach the dryer to your washing machine’s water line. My dryer sits away from my washing machine so I had to run a water line to my dryer—easy job using PEX (see Photo 1). There is one feature, however, painfully missing from this dryer, and that’s a light!!! At this price point, there should be a light in the dryer. Another issue is the pitiful signal volume. At its loudest, you need to be really close to the dryer to hear it. There’s no way anyone is going to hear this dryer if it’s in a basement. And something that takes getting used to is that you must press and hold the Start button while it counts down from three so the cycle will begin. I guess this is to prevent accidentally starting the dryer by leaning against it, and also to make it more difficult for kids to start it. I’m not crazy about this feature, but I can live with it. On the plus side, it’s a fairly quiet running dryer—I think that it was designed more to be used in a living space (because it’s stackable) then in a basement where I have it. Worth mentioning is the lint filter. For some reason, it’s really easy to clean (see Photo 2). The electronic control panel works differently than traditional dryers with mechanical controls. With this dryer, you have to turn its power on before you can proceed. Next you select one of the “WHAT to dry” buttons. This automatically selects a “HOW to dry” setting. Then if you want, you can select modifiers and options to customize the cycle—you can change the temperature, dryness, more/less time, Wrinkle Shield (with or without steam, tumbles your load up to 150 minutes after it’s done), Steam Refresh, Signal on/off, Damp Dry Signal (for removing clothes before they’re completely dry), Reduce Static, Control Lock, and EcoBoost. Though there are a lot of options, the controls are laid out nicely and easy to figure out (see exception below). The LED display shows you what you’ve selected and the amount of time remaining in the cycle (estimated time for automatic cycles). One thing the manual doesn’t make clear is what happens when you select Wrinkle Control as the How To Dry selection—all other modes have a description. From what I gather by trial and error is that, all it does is turn on the Wrinkle Shield feature. One very confusing and difficult setting has to do with the Cycle Signal control sharing a button with the Stream Refresh. And the instructions don’t match the display (the instructions say you can adjust the sound to either low, medium, high, or off, but the display shows 3, 2, 1, and off. So, is 3 low or is it high? And when you hold down the button for three seconds to access the signal settings, they cycle past too fast and it’s extremely hard to catch the setting you want. This is an example of a terrible interface—it’s obvious that whoever designed this dryer never actually tried using it. We’ve been using the dryer for a while now, and trying out the various settings. In the beginning it took a little experimentation to figure out what worked for a specific type of load. For example, my wife was getting poor results from selecting Delicates and Wrinkle Control. She had to run the cycle twice. I also had poor results from my mixed type load (I point this out because our previous dryer, with mechanical controls, had no problem with this type of load). However, the Steam Refresh cycle works really well. As you can tell from the review information, I received this dryer to review as part of the Home Depot SEEDS program. So I have to ask myself, would I actually pay money for this dryer? Given the lack of a light, some of the poor user interface designs, and mixed results for actually drying clothes, I have to say no. Hence, I’m giving this Whirlpool dryer an overall rating of only three stars (though the general quality of the dryer seems high) and do not recommend it.

                                      Great Features!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We purchased this set to stack and save space about a month ago. We love, love, love the washer. However, the dryer runs very loud and for some reason the door opens opposite than the washer. I'm sure I will get used to it but for now it is very awkward. I'd like to know if the door can be reversed? If not, that could be a useful feature in future models especially if you are selling them with the option to stack.

Smooth, quiet and relatively intuitive for the relatively clueless (that's me when it comes to domestic chores) is my best description of this piece of equipment. If you are like me and the majority of your wash loads are similar, this dryer will remember the previous settings upon startup. And if not, new settings are easily achieved by simply choosing the most likely button description. Like many, I was surprised that a drum light is not included but not really important. Buttons are relatively touchy but the learning curve is fairly short so no worries there. The "End of Cycle" signal is another matter since that I find if you are close enough to actually hear it (even at its highest setting) you can probably hear the dryer operating which is at least twice as quiet as the machine this is replacing. Never thought I'd hear myself saying this, but I now miss the annoying buzzer that used to make me cringe a little if I happened to be close by when it sounded. Since my dryer is installed to the left of the washer it was necessary to reverse the door swing which is something of an adventure itself so if you are not mechanically inclined or don't own a Torx #20 and a Torx #25 driver than you might want to solicit some help if you also need to do this. It's now parked next to a washer that I purchased a year or so ago and doesn't match at all but fortunately I'm a function first, then form second, kinda of guy so you fashion conscious types will simply have to forgive me.

This dryer is big enough to fit the largest loads. We have a king size bed, and were looking for something we could dry a king size comforter in, and this is it. This dryer also has a ton of features for the price. Additionally it has a water hookup for the different misting, wrinkle-free, and static-reduction features that it offers. You do not need to connect this dryer to a water line, but if you do not, you lose some of those extra features. This dryer is stackable for those with limited space and a front load washing machine, but we've got the room so we'll be sitting these side by side. As usual, Home Depot delivery was awesome. If you've installed a dryer before, this one is pretty straight forward. The only thing different on this one is the connection for the water line (which is not required). Added bonus is that the dryer door can be reversed to make it swing to the left instead of to the right. All of the installation instructions are in the installation guide, and are written very clearly and with illustrations. The dryer itself runs quietly and quickly. Starting a load could be a little quicker if the dryer didn't have so many features, but if you wanted less features you wouldn't have purchased this dryer. To start, you need to clean the lint trap, load the dryer with wet laundry, turn the power on, select what you're drying and how to dry, adjust the cycle settings for steam or added dryer time, turn on the EcoBoost if you're environmentally inclined, then hold the start button for 3 seconds. Overall, this is a nice, high-quality, name brand dryer, with tons of features, and Home Depot has it for a reasonable price. I think this dryer is a very good value for the money.

The 7.4 cubic foot 240-Volt Chrome Shadow Stackable Electric Dryer with Steam and Wrinkle Shield Plus Option and Energy Star rating from Whirlpool is an excellent dryer... It was an easy install and came with a three prong whip, aluminum vent and right angle end connectors. It has many temperature settings for all types of loads... Didn't connect the steam hook up due to not having a y-connector for the water faucet... plus due to our hard water would need to use a water filter to prevent calcium deposits on the steam feature.

Installation: We have a tiled washer/dryer pan which is 30" deep (31.5" with front lip) and we were expecting to have to either redirect the dryer vent out the side or bottom in order to get this dryer to fit in the pan. We used a solid 90 degree dryer vent elbow (see picture) and were able to get the dryer in place without redirecting the vest. Use: The first load we did was jeans and we used the sensing option which is automatically used with Bulkly/Heavy duty settings. It quit drying before the pockets of the jeans were totaly dry. We added a 10 minutes of timed dry and it worked great. We live at a higher altitude 4,700 ft with dry air, I've read that the dryness sensors are affected by the humidity of the ambient air, they work better in more humid environments. My wife says there is quite a learning curve and by expermenting has found which settings work best for our laundry so don't be afraid to play around with various settings. Other: One minor con is you can activate the buttons by leaning against the dryer. While you are standing folding cloths or reaching for something on the shelf over the dryer if you lean on the dryer the buttons activate. It's almost funny we have done it so much.
