The Good: For those that are a bit security conscious and on an increadibly tight budget, this thing does the job! It provides you with 2 weeks of motion recordings backed up to the internet for free, and a spot to add local storage with a Micro SD card - can pick those up cheap at most major retailers. It also has a new "Person Detection" feature, though this is hit an miss and only in its Beta stages. Motion notifications also work great. Not to mention, this is a perfect camera for tinkering on things, or simple projects!!! The Bad: Outside of the fact that it does do video at 1080p - Which should be good, the "Video Compression" is horrible and attempting to zoom in to make out details is rough. The cloud motion backup ionly does 12 second clips and sometimes doesn't collect the whole motion - The fix to this is to make sure to insert a Micro SD card, when motion is detected, it is able to store the whole clip of motion and not just the 12 seconds. Conclusion: It's a perfect camera for tinkerers, and a good cost effective start into the video camera age to make someone feel a little more secure, though using the video footage if a crime takes place may be hit and miss due to the video compression quality. Recommend using camera in close quarters areas for the best quality in identifying the culprit. While I use mine to watch the whole front yard (see picture), capturing details of the culprit will be nearly impossible. If they were somehow able to update the camera to accept better video compression quality, this thing would be an absolute winner.

I bought one of these on impulse. I liked it so much I replaced one of my custom-built cameras with it. It now sits at the front door, held up by a 3d printed mount I made. If you need one, check thingiverse. Mine isn't the only one either. There are TONS of free third party accessories for this camera. The tiny little box contains literally everything you need to take full advantage of this camera. It contains a microSD card, power supply, and magnetic mount. The simple arm and pivot mechanism makes aiming the camera very simple. The built in mic is very sensitive and the speaker is exactly as loud as you'd want it to be. Firmware updates are easy and can be done in app or via SD card. The image quality is very good too. What really impressed me is the software. The wyze camera app is very clean and simple to use. It lets you easily see, hear, and speak through the camera. Setup is simple. You press a button on the bottom and show the camera a QR code on your phones screen. It's that simple. They have person detection, auto night vision, it even has a feature that lets you turn off the IR LEDs if you are placing the camera in front of glass so they won't reflect back into the camera. That's exactly what I did with mine and it was so thoughtful they did this. I thought I would have to modify something but they thought of everything. This is a very well thought-out camera. The developers also have a special branch of firmware that adds RTSP support so you can use aftermarket software with the camera. With homebridge on my server, I can even check this camera out on my Apple Watch! I liked it so much, I bought my sister one for her new baby. We tethered it to the head of a stuffed giraffe aimed at his crib with a rubber band. The only thing it doesn't do that her old baby monitor did was check the temperature of the room. It had better image quality, a more sensitive mic, and motion and sound detection that throws a phone notification when my nephew wakes up. She is now able to zoom in so close see the baby breathing, even in the dark. Her old old nanny cam couldn't do that. It didn't have the image quality. This was also MUCH cheaper than the baby cam she was using before. My brother in law likes that he can check in on him any time he wants while at work too. For $20, you can't miss this.

This camera rivals most other cameras on the market, that cost 5-10 times as much. The company is constantly improving the product via software / firmware upgrades, which adds more features at no cost.

This is a really great little indoor cam. I'm using it to keep an eye on a feline who is over-grooming. I set the active time for night and then watch for activity. The nice thing is that the cam powers off of a 120 volt charger that comes with it and the quality of the video is crispy 1080p. The size is nice and tight and the included stand works perfectly. Video records can be conveniently saved to iPhotos for long term storage, which is perfect for me.

Pros Easy to Install, Easy to Use, Good Size & Weight, Looks Great, Lots of Features, Nice Design

  • 12/29/19 cameras stopped working.
  • December 29, 2019

Camera did work a few months ago. I bought a new one and found the problem is not the camera but the app. it will not connect. If you call them the phone hangs up on you. Online reviews say the new firmware updates have rendered these cameras as useless. I can not get the app to work. Very buggy, some times I get farther than others when trying to connect a camera but it never goes all the way. I do not recommend this product. The company appears not to care about the customer.

These cameras definitely have their limitations, but they are very inexpensive and a better value than many that are priced much higher. These are designed for indoor use only. There are 3rd parties that will make outdoor enclosures for these, but it is at your own risk. I am experimenting with this, but don't have enough experience yet to advocate for this. Positives: * Inexpensive * No cloud storage to have to pay for. You can get free storage of motion events for 14 days. You can also get full video capture for about 14 days with a 32GB micro SD card that is only about $10. This is a nice option in the days of everyone forcing their could service (and fees) down your throat. Negatives: * If someone takes your camera they will take your memory card that has your complete footage. (You will still have the small motion event hopefully) * Not rated for outdoors and not option from Wyze for that application. * No Ethernet option, WiFi only * Company is trying hard to provide even more features/value, but has some stumbles such as a bad agreement that caused them to have to remove person recognition. * No native option to view cameras on anything but your mobile device. (I.e computer or TV) Tips: * If you want these to not stick out so much, just get a little acrylic paint and paint them whatever color will help them blend in. For me it was brown because they are on top of furniture or cabinets. The paint jod doesn't need to be perfect. If it has a little organic variation, that will help the camouflage.

Absolutely love this security cam & the app it comes with. I still can't get over the low price, as it's already exceeded our expectations by far. The video quality is excellent. Originally purchased as a "Granny Cam" for peace of mind as she requires 24 hour attendant support. Quite pleased with my purchase & thinking of buying a second one for another location. PROS: - Super LOW PRICE for quality surveillance & app with lots of surprise features. - Has a mini-memory card slot for constant recording & playback. - Can take screenshots & save video clips. - Allows you to set specific area for motion detection & even sends alerts to ur phone or tablet. - Remote view from anywhere & even has a share option. - Can ZOOM in to get a better view. - Easy setup & works off of your existing wifi network. - Has a two-way speaker, so u can speak thru it to anyone within earshot of the cam. (kind of like the Ring Doorbell). - The "Playback" feature is a plus! CONS: - App not compatible with Windows Computers...unless you download a few additional programs that trick ur computer into thinking it has a cellphone on board. (But definitely works great with Tablets & Cell phones...I use both.) Overall...an excellent product that gives you a lot of bang for your buck. Definitely reccomend!
