This is a miracle product. We are removing popcorn ceilings. We scraped ceiling, wiped down with damp sponge mop 3 times (drying between), put on 2 coats of Gardz, and painted. Absolutely no bubbling or peeling of paint like we experienced prior to discovering Gardz. Highly recommend!

This product worked exactly as expected. Upon wallpaper removal a lot of drywall paper was taken up. This sealed the brown drywall paper perfectly so that I could skim coat over it. I would recommend and sue again.

Gardz sealer is an outstanding product. I was a paint contractor and hung wall paper for many years. This product is a much friendlier product than what I once used to prepare walls for paper. It also does an excellent job of holdout on subsequent coats of acrylic latex.

We first used Gardz on the bathrooms that we redid, we removed wallpaper in both bathrooms, and had problems in the past with the paint bubbling up because we didn’t get all of the paste off, But with the Gardz we didn’t have any problems, the paint went on great. Just alittle runny and stinky.

This stuff is the next best thing to oil primer when it comes to sealing problem walls. It is not a stain blocker though. I use it with confidence after removing wallpaper to prep before doing mud repairs and painting.

It's very watery so go slowly when you apply it, but it works very well. Soaks into your surface and provides a consistent and durable layer.

This stuff is great for working on damaged drywall, covering problem areas that will not take paint, and as a primer. I am generally very impressed by the performance of this product. The only negatives are that you have to buy a case in order to buy it and that it is so thin and runny. The thin and runny part makes application a little tricky but the product is so good that I don't mind.

I placed this after many hours of glue scrapping still left glue marks in pant. This sealant did the trick.

Worked great. We had old wallpaper glue that would not come off but still would not allow paint to adhere. One coat of this and the paint went on fine. Should be sold by the gallon but still worth the price. Will donate the extra cans.

Really works! We had major issues with alligatoring from both wallpaper paste & a former owner's excessive painting habits. To make extra sure we covered, we used a paint brush on our walls & 2 coats of the Gardz. We allowed more than the recommended drying time between coats & prior to using our wall paint. Worked like a dream after many failed other options we tried. The product is watery & goes a long way, especially if applied with a paint brush.

Best primer i have ever used!!!

This product worked very well for me. I was in a position where I had to leave the paper backing on the walls after stripping off the wallpaper surface layer. I did not want to risk incurring damage to the underlying drywall surface. The paper backing was firmly adhering to the surface so I thought I'd give Zinsser Gardz a try. The product is very liquid as stated on the container but, if you apply it slowly with a nap roller or a brush, it doesn't present a problem. Initially, I was somewhat dismayed when the paper backing started to bubble up over the entire surface. As the product dried, the bubbles disappeared leaving a relatively smooth, flat surface. I only applied one coat of the product and think that 2 coats would give a smoother surface. The one-coat surface is ideal for skim-coating; however, I will be painting it. I believe that 2 coats of latex paint will be adequate for my purpose. I would buy this product again and I will be using it on my next wallpaper removal project.

Would have rated it higher but it is difficult to see where you have just sealed the drywall. The sealer is supposed to have a blueish tint... but I could not detect any tint whatsoever.

This is a great product! wish it were a shelf item. Had to order online and wait.

It covered / sealed the wall board that used to have wall paper on it. We've now painted over it and it worked as expected with no issues.

It is a good preparation to put on before applying texture coating to walls. I would recommend.

Worked as advertised. I had badly damaged drywall from removing wallpaper applied directly to unsealed drywall. Gardz sealed in the torn and abraded drywall as well as residual wallpaper glue and provided a clean surface to apply a joint compound skim coat. I will also use it to seal and prime the joint compound prior to painting. It is very thin, which allows it to penetrate the surface, so care must be taken to keep it from splashing around when pouring and applying it. The only drawback was that it is a special order and gallon containers can only be purchased in a case of 4 gallons so I had to buy twice as much as I needed. Still worth it.

My application was to cover many layers of old wallpaper -- this did the trick! After applying a very heavy layer, my drywall guy came in and "mudded" over everything. Now my walls look great and can be painted.

Best primer/sizer on the market for wallpaper installation

I had removed wallpaper that was over 30 years old from my walls and the wallpaper removed the paper from the original drywall. I thought I was going to need the drywall replaced. I used this product on the walls and was able to get the original drywall skim-coated. It goes on thin, so I used more than I originally thought but worked great!

This is the best first layer over fresh drywall for an area that will be multiple colors. Other primers don't have anywhere near the adhesion this has. No longer scary when trying to pull tape off border lines. Really goes a long way in coverage as well and hardens the wall up to make it more durable. Glad I did my research and tried it out.
