Problem solving product
This product is quite thin and is designed to soak into wood and sanded drywall. I used it after repairing the drywall around a tub/shower. Previous efforts with normal primer resulted in paint loosening after a few years because of the moisture. This Gardz product penetrates the drywall and seals it from moisture. It dries in an hour or so. It appears to have the characteristics of paint primer, so paint can be applied the same day. It's also useful when repairing exterior wood. It soaks into filler or deteriorated wood and seems to harden the material - as well as being a sealer. Paint appears to stick to it very well.

Great Stuff
I use it last 12 months. Works great, smells badly. Saves drywall replacement. After this seal, mudding is easy as new drywall.

Wall Paper Removal and Drywall Prep
The best solution when removing paper. There is no way to get all the glue off without damaging the drywall. This seals the drywall to allow repairs and additional mud application. Allows the use of regular primer without worry. As an added bonus it sealed a removed popcorn ceiling in the same bath. With confidence I can now renovate my other three bathrooms.

Great product, always excellent results.
Gardz is my go to primer/sealer before wallpaper installations. It goes a long way, is easy to apply, and never fails to produce an excellent surface to install on.

Interesting Product
We'd never heard of needing to seal "raw" sheetrock until having six rooms and two large closets done (two year remodel project!). I ordered the four pack (4-gal.) GARDZ Drywall primer/surfacer on-line (only way to buy it!). The on-line (Bing Search) information states the product is very thin.. watery thin, in fact, and care MUST be taken, least one make a HUGE mess. The GARDZ rolls on very easy, too easy in fact! (made the regular paint "feel" like mud ;-} ) Tho it states the product dries in three hours for top-coating, we allowed a full twenty-four hours. So far, we have used over three-quarters of one of the four gallons purchased... coverage area is stated to be between "350 to 450 sq ft.".. in our case over 3/4 of a gallon covered 250 square feet!! I do not believe the remainder of this gallon is going to cover another one hundred, much less two hundred, square feet!! I might note, I have NEVER had ANY paint cover the stated area!! GARDZ sealed the "raw" sheetrock (paper-covered areas), the "mudded" seams and areas very well. We are very pleased with the product. It is all it claims to be!

I've used Gardz in my business for years as a wall primer and drywall repair sealer. It works great under paint or wallpaper. Take it from a pro, buy with confidence.

GARDZ DRYWALL PRIMER - DID THE JOB
Applied primer with roller/brush, covered new MR Drywall (green paper) well, one coat and waited overnight to paint - needed 2 coats of ceiling white paint, 1 coat of a light brown flat wall paint covered well and didn't apply a 2nd coat. My first time for installing new drywall, including the joint compound, and priming. Dry primer had a slight sheen when dry, the paint rolled smoothly over the 'sealed', smooth texture. Ordered a 4 gallon box of Gardz online from HD and received it within 2 days.

So see Gardz sealer
The product was as good as advertised. I only wish that I didn't have to order a four pack when I only needed one gallon for my project. I will need more in the future and hope that it will keep until then.

    The Pinnacle of Primer/Sealers
Just finished removing 2800 sq. ft. of popcorn textured ceiling and refinishing it to a smooth surface. Used Gardz over old drywall, new drywall and skimmed surfaces. Followed with two coats of flat white latex ceiling paint. I have several rooms with many windows and I can detect absolutely no evidence of flashing or shadows anywhere. I have also used Gardz to seal walls after removing wallpaper and it worked perfectly as a primer/sealer in that application also.

    Never Thought of This Before
Removed 1978-installed vinyl wallpaper in the bathroom. Was not expecting to see cardboard beneath it (looked like gray shirt-box cardboard). There was also your typical drywall joint compound along the cardboard joints. This product did an excellent job of sealing the different porous material. Easy to apply with a roller and dried quickly. Also easy to tell where you may have missed. Tried one area with just Zinsser Primer white paint; but ended up skim-coating the entire wall(s). Added a coat of this product over the skim coat and the primer coat adhered very evenly. Had to order this through the mail. Wish they would stock it in the store.

    Great Product! Saved the day!
After removing wallpaper from unprimed walls the drywall looked irreparable. I was was going to skim coat the entire dining room after using this product. I touched up some badly damaged spots with spackle, sanded down all of the damaged drywall with 180 grit sandpaper then sealed it with this product. I decided to prime the walls before skim coating to more easily spot damage. Then a miracle happened... ;) ...the sealant had done such a great job that no skim coat was needed and I could move straight on to painting!! Saved so much time and money! So glad I found this product!
