I love the shades but you should read the directions very closely when ordering so you get the right size. If you're hanging them INSIDE the window frame, you should order your exact width and then they cut the shades 1-1/8" less. However, it is recommended by the manufacturer to hang it 3" wider than the width of your window on the OUTSIDE for best blackout effect.

I bought several of these after visiting a boutique shade shop where I was quoted a price four times as high for seemingly comparable shades. I worried that the lower price (and, frankly, the large retailer) might mean these shades would be low quality but they aren’t. They block light, look nondescript, and were easy to install. I’d recommend them.

They work fine for my French doors, bigger diameter than I would have wanted (but I think it's necessary because of the length), and it looks okay anyway (photos submitted). Easy to install (outside mount), function well, feel solid and like they will last for a long time. Bonus: I was surprised by how much cooler the room is! The doors are new and well-rated for energy efficiency -- but these blinds still made a big difference.

Easy to install. I would like the shade better if the fabric was a bit wider to block out more light. Overall, I am happy with the shades.

These blackout blinds worked great to block out our neighbor's driveway lights at night. We have plantation shutters so I needed something that would fit inside the window and not show. They worked perfect and were easy to install.

I bought 5 of these BLACKOUT shades to block on the sun from the giant windows in my family room: four 34.5 inch wide shades and one 56.5 inch wide shade. I ordered them on a Friday and received them all via UPS the following Thursday. They came in two packages: three 34.5 inch shades in one, and the remaining two shades in a second longer package. The box containing the three 34.5 inch shades was partially opened, the end cap of the box was missing, but because all the parts where there and the shades themselves looked undamaged in their individual wrappers, I didn't worry about. More on this later. The actual installation of the shades was quite easy. Screw the brackets to the window frame and pop the shade into the brackets. You may need to give them a good bump with your fist to get them in place. I learned (see below) that they are easy to remove if you need to, and they pop back in place securely again without any issues. The shades themselves do what I need them to so: block the sunlight from shining on my TV screen. The white blends nicely with my white walls. I am happy. Sadly, the three shades that were packed in the damaged box were negatively affected. One of them lost its spring tension, and would not retract easily. I had to adjust the tension of the spring following the instructions enclosed with the shade. This was easy to do, and I was able to make it work properly. The other two shades would not retract at all, and I was unable to fix them by adjusting the tension. I e-mailed customer support at <support@markisolUSA.com> with a description of the problem. I expected to hear back within a day or so. I was pleasantly surprised to receive a reply later the same day. Peter at customer support quickly arranged for two new spring mechanisms to be shipped to me, and I had them within a few days. The replacement springs came with excellent instructions, and it only took a few minutes each to replace the bad springs. After a few tension adjustments to the shades, both worked properly. So overall: - The shades do what I expect, black out the sunlight. - The shades are easy to install - The shades are easy to adjust - 3 came defective, but that seems to be the fault of UPS. Customer support quickly addressed the problem. - I feel these are an excellent value for the money.

INSTALLATION: July 2019. They were not that easy to install. You need very strong arms and hands to clip them into the brackets while standing on a chair. I'm a small woman. I was laughing to myself as I huffed and puffed and kept trying to clip them in, over and over -- while visualizing the model in the video snapping them on in two seconds. The screws that come with them are worthless and stripped quickly. I used my own wood screws. AESTHETICS: I like the look, I got the charcoal grey. As others have said, it's dark grey on one side and white on the other though, not as pictured. However they do look pleasant and clean/streamlined. They have a canvas/matt look rather than shiny vinyl on the grey side, which I like. I'm glad I bought them wider than the window so they overlap, the edges. I could have gone wider. I suggest adding 1 to 2 inches on either side of your actual window pane. QUALITY: One of them arrived bent on the end with the blind hanging out. I took a mallet to it. The other was stuck inside itself, wouldn't roll out at first so I had to unstick it. I'm not sure how long these will last. Will the blinds stay clipped into the brackets? Will the rolling device break (it's very slow and finicky)? Will the tiny plastic pull-handle break (appears to be held on by nothing and arrived scratched)? Will the shades crack under strong sun? By all accounts they appear fragile. I'm handling them with care. I wouldn't recommend these if you have kids. Quality not as expected for the price.

I had already bought one of these and it was very good, of good quality and covering well the exterior light, but this time I got it in bad condition, it was all peeling with a line in the middle, as if it had been stored for a long time in humidity. I recommend it, it is a good product, but before you get rid of the packaging, check it out well so that it can be returned in case it happens the same as my

Doesn't provide the blackout effect as promised even though I added 3 inches of fabric to the measurement. The curtain also sometimes folds into the window from the outside mount. I love the look and ease of it but was just disappointed at the lack of blackout effect.

Good quality shade that blocks out light. Easy to install also. The width delivered is of the upper bracket, not the width of the shade itself which is about 1/2 " less overall. In other words, the bracket is 1/4 " wider than the shade on each side.
