This is the second s9 that is having issues. The first was purchased 3/6/20. It would stop in the middle of a job and give an error saying it was moved while cleaning when it was not. They sent a new one under warranty. The second was received on 9/1/20 and is now refusing to start a job. It shows that it is stuck while on the base. Customer care was no help, other than to say this is not normal behavior and she will have someone call me to discuss it. I have a 985 that has worked for years and never had any issues, I decided to upgrade and move the 985 to the basement. Biggest mistake ever. The s9+ is trash.

Well Worth the Cost

We went all out and got the top of the line model. I knew I wanted the self emptying feature, and after extensive internet research decided I"d rather feel the sting of the biggest price tag once than to forever be somewhat underwhelmed with an already big purchase. We have had some issues with the smart maps. The documentation says that the robot will keep learning the floorplan better and better, but after the first two mapping paths I never see it evolve at all. The first time it missed a side hallway because we put it's base near the entryway, and for whatever reason it would not 'see' that turn that close to it's home base, so we had to move it to the center of a larger room. It cleans great! the first time we ran it the vacuum pulled out so much hair and dust from the carpet that our other vacuum (an industrial old school metal Hoover) that it clogged the auto empty system. Now we run it once a week, and things are great!

Ran the 550 and older Braava till they died. Had 6 Virtual walls. The new S9+ is great. No need for walls, just map out the rooms I need to clean. Time saver. I can schedule any room to clean. Keep it from going into area with the keep out zones.

We purchased the bundle; mSeries mop and S series vacuum with external bin. We adore the mop. It works perfectly and actually cleans quite well. The vacuum on the other hand is a total nightmare. It is in constant need of attention. It gets "stuck" in the middle of the hallway, nothing around it. It's internal bin is constantly "full" even when it isn't. We live in a bungalow, a very simple space to map out. We have minimal amounts of furniture and it is just the two of us pretty clean adults in the house. We have completed the bin care instructions multiple times. We have completely cleaned the vacuum inside and out. The sensors are spotless and yet the unit still malfunctions constantly. The worst part is the mediocre care on the back end. We have made multiple calls to support to try to get help. The first lady said she was going to call us back in an hour. She ended up calling back over two hours later and I missed the call because I was in appointment. The second time we called we were promised we got the exact right person who could help only to be told a moment later that our issues needed to be escalated and somebody would call us back in a day or two. Maybe my expectations are too high, but these gadgets are pricy and I expect premium levels of service to go along with the price and no to zero issues at all in the first place; keep in mind this thing is about a week old. I could have bought two high end Dysons for what this thing cost and at least the house would be clean. I will update the review in the coming days/weeks; as the company earns its stars back if at all. In the meantime you've been forewarned.

Self proclaimed OCD when it comes to floor cleanliness. My regular vacuum is a Kirby and I have mostly hard wood and tile through out common areas, carpet in bedrooms. I was constantly doing common area floors, battling kid traffic, and two dogs who shed pretty moderately. I bought this Roomba while on deployment as a welcome home present to myself. It's now my favorite family member. Since it's something I've been wanting for years, I wanted top of the line so I would have no room to complain or regrets on not getting a better model. I have nothing bad to say about this vacuum. I run it once a day, sometimes every other. I have been so impressed with the intelligence and ability of this product. I haven't seen a single dog hair tumbleweed since I opened the box. The automatic dirt disposal is a MUST, especially for pet owners. After a week, I got curious as to how much this vacuum picked up on one cleaning session. Even with daily use, the bin was FULL of dog hair and dirt after one cleaning session. Using the app is really awesome because I can run it on my own schedule. I personally like to pick the times because I prefer to "Roomba proof" the house, meaning I pick up toys, shoes, and anything that could possibly cause a clog. So far, my daughters room has been the only place Roomba has gotten clogged or stuck, but I get notifications that alert me of any problems. It even navigates through my kitchen table and chairs! The corner technology is flawless. I honestly have no need to touch my regular vacuum other than for quick jobs if I feel the need. I've owned this product for almost a month and you could eat off my floors. The cost of this model has been well worth my sanity and not feeling the need to bust out my vacuum every couple of days. If I had ANY complaint, the only issue that I've run into is that if I interrupt a cleaning session or I have to remove a clog, sometimes it has issues relocating it's docking station. Easy fix, I pick it up.

Does a great job cleaning up after 3 ranch dogs and a cat on my vinyl planking. Has cut down need for dusting furniture from daily(if I had time, not) to weekly. Be prepared to google and call support line a lot as written directions not in detail. If you have pets expect to clean the filter often, which is a fair trade for not having to manually vacuum. Gets edges and corners cleaned. This is a must have!

This robot is really amazing! We bought a Roomba years ago and loved it, but it was time to be replaced. The s9+ fixes everything we didn't like about the old one. First, the square shape allows it to clean better in corners. Second, the self-emptying dirt tray is way, way easier to manage and keeps hands clean. Third, the quiet mode allows us to sleep at night. Fourth, the app makes it easy to schedule a cleaning so it will run while we're away. It cleans up everything, even big things like chips or cereal. It doesn't bother the dog at all and my kids love it too! The old Roomba cleaned randomly, but this one makes an effort to clean in straight lines which makes the carpet look neater. The only things it can't do is move furniture or go up and down stairs. This means we have to make sure the furniture is out of the way and move the unit from time to time. Small issues in an overall great experience. A fantastic product, well worth the money! Thank you iRobot! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

it seems to vac ok but can not find home it always stops because of dead battery, it will vac for a while when you but it on charge system it only charges for a short time goes again for a short then the process goes on

The incredibly powerful Roomba S9+ will remove surface debris on it's first clean missions, but Roomba may need a few more clean missions to bring your home to a baseline of clean. This model stores internal maps that allow for more efficient cleans on future missions. Initial runtimes and coverage may be reduced as Roomba is taking time to learn your environment. This is called the Floor Conditioning process. Rest assured, once Roomba learns your home you will see increased coverage. If Roomba is placed on the base without cancelling the previous mission, Roomba will continue to clean from the spot it was last cleaning. It is a great product, but iRobot should do a better job of educating new users. For example: 1- The new S9 makes a loud sound on hard floors during the first hours. It comes from the extractors, and it sounds like something is broken. It gets much better after some hours if use, but I am sure some customers will return the product believing it is broken; 2- The mapping run is excellent and should be strongly recommended while the robot is learning and building the map. The battery lasts hours without vacuuming, and the robot can learn the house faster. After that, vacuuming is fast and efficient. Otherwise, the first cleaning cycle takes forever and will result in a wrong first impression.
