This LED bulb was the perfect replacement for the fluorescent bulb used by the 50 year old lamp fixture over the medicine cabinet in our bathroom. The bulb was taking an increasingly longer time to light up, up to 30 seconds, even after replacing the fluorescent bulb and starter. I knew I was looking at either replacing the ballast or the entire fixture if I wanted to keep using fluorescent lamps, so I decided to try one of the newer LED lamps. Once I figured out how to take the old fixture apart, installation of the Toggled LED lamp was very easy. I highly recommend this LED light bulb.
Love these lights. I replaced our pantry and under-the-stairs-closet lights. I agree with an earlier reviewer that 4000k is best for those purposes (thanks for that tip!). 5000K would be too much. I am glad I bought the 4000k. They are bright but easy on the eyes. Installing was 5-10 minutes each. The one ended power makes it very easy. Simply cut out the ballast and connect the two power wires and done.
Two daylight temperature were initially purchased as a test for very old T12 troffers in the basement with a failed magnetic ballast. The package included the lamp, tombstones and wiring. The old wiring was removed and the existing hardware was rewired for direct power. Including cleaning the fixture, the whole process took about 60 minutes. The color and brightness of the LED tube was a huge improvement over the fluorescent cool white. The new light turns on in less than a second, whereas the old fluorescent took about 3 seconds. With the first retrofit successful, the second set was purchased. My only disappointment was the second set came in a triangular box without the wires. Fortunately, I have a drawer where I keep assorted lengths of wire.
In a word, BUY THIS. My wife had been complaining for some time about the light over the kitchen sink not being bright enough. It also buzzed sometimes. I replaced the florescent bulb about once a year it would help but eventually she would bring it up again. AS the the rest of my house is LED this was the only fixture not. So this time I decided to convert it. As an aside, do NOT waste your time with the plug and play LEDs the ballast is still running so little if any cost saving. The wiring is easy, and when I pulled the cover I discovered the ballast was crusty and the input wires were turning brown from the heat. Now I know why our bulbs didnt put out much light and buzzy. Slap this in only needs 2 wires connected to one end and boom! Understand this light is BRIGHT. Not for mood lighting or accent. But over sink, work area or a walk in closet perfect. 10 bucks. Do it you wont be sorry!
READ THIS REVIEW! These lights are incredibly bright! If you need to replace florescent bulbs, I 100% recommend TOGGLED. Installation was easy, the online videos were very helpful and the products feel like good quality. HOWEVER, if you are like me and looking to replace lights in a relatively small (4x6) closet, the 5k version is WAY too bright. I did just order a pair of the 4k bulbs which should tone things down a bit. So to recap - great product, would (and did) purchase again, but for indoor use, opt for the 4k. These 5k bulbs are better suited for garages or workbench. Hopefully, Home Depot will have these on display soon to avoid similar confusion. Attached photo shows a side by side of florescent vs these bulbs.
These lights were great. I ordered 35 for to transition a restaurant's menu lighting to from fluorescent to LED. The work great and come with additional lamp holders and wire nuts so everything you need is included. I had an issue when I got to work, because the larger box came with lamp holders (tombstones) that didn't fit my fixtures. Home Depot connected me with Toggled, and they sent me the additional lamp holders of the type I needed for no fee. The product comes nicely packed and with great instructions. I will be using them for LED transitions in the future.
This product was extremely easy to install. I watch the video I made a trip to get something to make sure I wouldn’t get electrocuted while doing it. It was a very easy process and will explain. The lighting at 5000 Kelvin was very good. Pricing is very reasonable and time required is also very reasonable this is a good product with a good warranty. Lifetime residential and six years commercial. I would recommend this and have bought four more to install in other areas of the house.
