I don't see "plastic" listed on the materials the brush can be used on. Is there a reason for this?
The shortcut can be used to paint on plastic. We usually list the most common painting surfaces for each brush but a brush could be used for any surface. They just may perform better on some surfaces. The Shortcut brush is a very versatile brush and performs well on a variety of tasks.
Will this work for thick gel stain?
Yes this brush can be used with gel stain but you may like a nylon brush (see internet # 205865736). This 2 in shortcut brush is 100% Nylon, which gives a smooth, even finish. Because the gel stain typically sits on the surface and does not sink into the wood like traditional stain, using a soft brush helps minimize brush strokes. These 5-gallon paint stir sticks are 1 3/8" wide and 1/4" thick. They are 21" long.
The specifications of 5 gallon paint stir sticks say they are half an inch wide. Is that a true dimension?
why is brush so stiff after cleaning with water or thinner. depending on paint type
Typically if the brush is stiff after rinsing, the bristles still have a coating on them. we recommend following the clean up instructions from each type of coating used. Some coatings respond well to clean up with just soap and warm water. For stronger/quick drying coatings, following up with a pumice hand cleaner and then rinsing the bristles again, can help remove any remaining paint.
