What is the mix ratio cement to water
          ByJul 26, 2026
          1 Answer |
          Answer This Question

MACHINE MIXING QUIKRETE® Fast-Setting Concrete can be hand mixed or machine mixed in a barrel-type concrete mixer or a mortar mixer. Allow at least 3/4 cu ft (21 L) of mixer capacity for each 50 lb (22.6 kg) bag to be mixed at one time. Add approximately 4 pt (1.9 L) of potable water to the mixer for each 50 lb (22.6 kg) bag to be mixed. Turn on the mixer and begin adding concrete. If the material becomes too difficult to mix, add small amounts of water at a time and continue to work the mix until a workable consistency is obtained. Maximum water is expected to be below 5 pt (2.3 L) of water per 50 lb (22.6 kg) bag. HAND MIXING Empty bags into a suitable mixing container. Add approximately 4 pt (1.9 L) of potable water for each 50 lb (22.6 kg) bag. Work the mix with a shovel, rake or hoe; add water as needed until a stiff, moldable consistency is achieved. Be sure there are no dry pockets of material. Do not leave standing puddles of water. Maximum water is expected to be below 5 pt (2.3 L) of water per 50 lb (22.6 kg) bag.

This is a great post hole digger. Very sharp & heavy duty. Use it to make holes to plant flowers. Next, replacing a 4x4 on my fence.

This concrete mix works great to set posts in the ground. It does dry fast like the name implies so be aware that there isn't too much time to work it especially if you are pouring it into the ground to anchor a post. The rocks in it are also rather large.

One of the two handles broke the first time I used it. Didn't even get a single hole complete. Do not waste your money on this item. It will make for a productive bad day.

We used this several years ago for a walkway and decided to use again to fix our porch entranceway dries very fast and strong. Highly recommend using this version if time is of the essence. I was able to stand of the area the next day with no problem

I used this for several fence post holes and overall it worked well, especially for a DIY project. It definitely sets fast, so make sure you have everything positioned and ready before adding water. I ended up using a little less water than the instructions called for and mixed/agitated it with a piece of rebar, which seemed to work fine. Some of my pours dried with slightly different colors or surface smoothness, but that may have been more from my mixing technique than the product itself. The biggest advantage was how easy and convenient it was to use compared to traditional mixing methods. It saved a lot of time during the fence install. One thing I’d strongly recommend is wearing a dust mask when pouring the dry mix because the concrete dust is no joke. Overall, a very solid product for fence posts and quick-setting projects.

                    Unsatisfactory employee help for customers
September of 2024 I was assisting a 100% disabled veteran in a mobility cart. I am a senior and needed assistance to load a bag of cement and asked three Home depot workers for help who were standing talking a few feet away from us. They refused. The concrete was not restocked and at ground level. I severely injured arm tendons to lit and load the concrete. The claims mitigation department told me the employees were busy.
