i have a four gallon battery backpack sprayer. Love the sprayer. But, the hose keeps coming off at the handle. There is no clamp or fitting to hold it on. What can be done to stop this. The liquid gets all over me when it comes off.

                  Still junk but getting pricey
The "achilles' heel" on these was where the hose connected to the tank, always split in about one season. Now it seems they have tried to fix this with a spring on that end to help it not bend as much. Now the hose on mine keeps blowing out of the wand. I have dumped chems on lawns where they did not need to be dumped and burned out grass due to this. Evev with a worm clamp it still doesn't hold. There is no "barb" to hold the flimsy plastic nipple into the rubber hose. Any pressure above about 1/4 way and it blows off. Horrible cheap impracticle design, I am going back to my high dollar ones that I at least get 2 seasons from and am not worried that I am going to kill out someones grass. Cheap junk.

                    Good Performance, Poor Long-Term Reliability
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I really wanted to like this sprayer because I'm a big fan of Ryobi tools. While it worked, it had good pressure, consistent coverage, and I had no trouble adapting TeeJet nozzles, which was a huge plus for my lawn applications. The price was also reasonable. Unfortunately, there were two major downsides. First, the pump wouldn't draw all of the liquid from the tank, so I constantly had to tilt the backpack to one side just to use most of what was left. Second, and more importantly, the unit failed shortly after the warranty expired. The motor still turns on, but it no longer pumps any liquid. It's disappointing because the sprayer performed well when it was working, but I expected it to last much longer. Based on my experience, I can't recommend it if you're looking for a long-term sprayer. I'd spend a little more on a higher-quality unit.

The sprayer is amazing if you have a medium sized area that you want to spray and not constantly have to refill or pump a sprayer. The capacity is amazing and the battery compartment will hold the larger lithium batteries. There are 2 places to hold the sprayer rod and it’s comfortable to wear while spraying.

                      Poor hose design at connection
Poor design on the hose. It will start breaking with in weeks. The weak poi t is at the base of the sprayer where the hose connects. Tried to order a new hose on ryobi website and if corse it's out of stock. I called them and they told me to go to a repair shop 3 hrs away to have them look at it to fix.

I bought this product a year ago, barely used it, both the battery and backpack stop working, waste of 180 bucks. Should’ve bought the warranty, the factory warranty is 3 yrs but you have to delivery to a company, that’s a million miles away!

Better products out there that are more reliable. You'll have a hard time finding someone to fix it. If it breaks down on you, nobody honors the warranty.
I bought one of these when it was on sale because of the price point. It sprays, okay, if you get it on sale. If you pay full price, you will be disappointed. You're better off spending the little extra money and getting a Dewalt or another better brand if you plan on using this with regularity. Unfortunately, mine started leaking from the holes connection less than a year after I had it. I tried to inquire about getting it repaired.Using the warranty that they have and could not find anybody who was willing to fix it.So the warranty is basically useless. Since you can't find somebody to fix it, you're going to have to figure out how to do it yourself and the way the hose is connected. You need a special tool. It doesn't seem hard to do, but when I noticed it was leaking was when I was going to use it. I ended up buying the Dewalt. The hand pump sprayer and noticed right away that it worked significantly better. And it's half the price, not a bad product that they could figure out how to stop that. Leak, but it's just not worth the money. Just go with the Dewalt. If you need to fix it, you're going to have to fix it yourself, because there's nobody around here that's going to honor any kind of warranty or even wants to work with this product. The Dewalt hand pump is a superior sprayer at half the price.

Leaks at the lid and the handle
They leak in two places!!! There are things I like with them and I will put that on the end. But this leaking is a no no for me!!! I first had ordered a 40V one, but it was leaking on the lid through the valve, quite heavily, soaked my back with round up!!, and at the handle, at the valve you press down, and a connection. I changed, made myself a protection out of a plastic garbage bag, to finish spraying to empty the tank( the again leaked product ate up the plastic bag, I had added horticultural vinegar for better results). So I returned this item in the store. They stated I must have gotten a lemon because they sell lots and nobody has ever complained about leaks! They had no 40V one in the store, only 18 V, but I wanted to finish my spraying, so I bought this one. I looked at it in the store, and was pretty sceptical, because the diaphragm was the exact loose floppy one as with the previous tank. Overall it's totally the same design, you only get more spray nozzles with the 40V. I tried it out yesterday. The exact same issues!!!!! Leak on the lid, heavily, and on the handle on the wand . So it's a design issue! Even when only half full through walking ( and especially driving to somewhere on the property the fluid splashes around and it comes out through this loose diaphragm. Another flaw is that it leaves an inch of fluid in the tank which you cannot spray out. And the spray nozzle sprays a wide ring, but nothing in the middle. And through this power spraying you use a lot more material than with a hand pump sprayer. But it's definitely a beauty to not have to pump!! Both voltages worked very well, and the battery life seems with both very good( although I did not use it too long) . The straps are well made and very comfortable , and the connected strap is higher in the chest than my hand pump sprayer, which goes right on top of my breasts, very uncomfortable as a female!!, and these Ryobi ones are higher located, so much much better. One more bad thing, and other reviewers had mentioned that as well: screwing on the lid is a pain in the butt, it takes many attempts to get it on not cross threading , and then it screws in one half turn ok, the other pretty hard, and that is the whole screwing on process like this, and was again on both sprayers. Although it's very relaxing and convenient to not have to pump, I cannot recommend this sprayer!!! I read quite a few reviews before buying the first one, and I cannot understand at all tgat in none of the review the leaking issue was mentioned, and it's quite severe, not only a little bit. There is no way, even with only a half full tank, that you can bend a little to get underneath some stuff, or to pick up some low branches to spray weeds underneath them and not get them contaminated. Really really bad . Or when you see something on the ground while walking the property , which should not be there and pick it up. Which I can easily do with my Chapin hand pump sprayer. Very disappointed with the product, I must say. Have lots of Ryobi tools, was never disappointed! Hope this helps somebody . One more thing, the hose is made of good sturdy rubber, I assume really good long lasting material, but it was so stiff that it hurt my wrist while trying to direct the spray where it needed to go. I do have problems with my wrist though, too overworked with nearly 70, haha, but wanted to mention that too. I took photos but seem not be able to upload them.
