Answers35 1/4 inches high with inner lid open. The lid that opens with the foot pedal. The other rim opens up to replace the bags only and that is 35 1/2 inches tall.

AnswersI found that 13 gallon bags are too small, tends to rip. I strongly suggest using 20 gallons bags, near perfect fit. 20 gallon bags are harder to come by, not stocked in stores usually, I order mine online.

AnswersI sprayed olive oil (no-stick spray) around the metal hinges when you open the can and also the area where you lift to pull the bags out and wiped the excess oil. The oil penetrated and the squeak is all gone.

This trash can is not only pretty, but it is smooth and effortless. It doesn't hit the wall behind it. It is slow closing and absolutely silent! It holds the extra bags in a little pocket toward the back of the can and is designed just beautifully. If you can love a trash can...then I do!

Fits normal (sams club) bags well and works awesone. Improvement recommendations:
1) ditch the bag dispenser. REPEAT ditch the bag dispenser. There is no customer benefit to this (even though the videos try to make it appear that there is) It creates a top heavy can which is a problem (see #4) and wastes precious floor space
2) add a removable pan to the bottom so that leaks can easily be cleaned up
3) partially recess the pedal into the base of the can. To save precious floor space
4) Add discrete rubber bumpers to the back of the can. The awkward design and balance (due to bag dispenser) means that the top of can was in contact with cabinet, creating abrasions on cabinet when opening and closing the trash can I added a couple sticky carpet squares to the back of the can to cushion the contact point.
And yes, i spend far too much time thinking about improvements to things like trash cans.

I bought this for my aunt as a Christmas gift. I knew she wanted a simplehuman garbage can was but had put off purchasing one. I am at her house often so I knew the size that she needed. She absolutely loved it! She's still sending me text about her new garbage can. LOL

This was a Christmas present to my sister. She loved it.
Our only problem was not with the step can, but with the shipping. I was sent the incorrect order (twice). Plus it took a month to get. I realize some of the problem was with the carrier, but luckily we got it the day before Christmas so all is good.
Most efficient way to remove and replace the bag!

I’ve wanted this trashcan since I saw my parents had it. I love the pedal (no needing my hands to touch or wave to open the lid) and I LOVE that I don’t have to take out any bin within the trash to remove the bag and then re-line the bin the re-insert the bin. No more touching gross surfaces!

I bought this as gift for my son and daughter-in-law for Christmas. They opened it yesterday and loved it on site. They own one of the sensor cans but it is past its prime. I own a slim one, if and when it gets past it's prime I will order another one, nothing compares!

Its a nice upgrade from the simplehuman step can I've had for several years. I really like that the extra bags are right in the can for easy access. Also the step to open is broad and can be reached all around the can. Not having an insert is also one of the best feature. I only have to pull the garbage bag out.
