since the wood isn't pressure treated, i am concerned about just leaving outside in the elements (not covered; around a firepit) all year. We will be priming and painting. Will painting them, rather than staining them, override the elements of weather?
Asked by: outtamyleague
Well, think about it, a house that has wood siding in simply primed and painted. No doubt would need occasional redoing just like a house. :-)

does the chair fold so you can put it away when not using?

Asked by: J316
No it doesn't fold. It's not very heavy, You can stack it on other chairs if that helps.

Is the lumber pressure treated

Asked by: alex
No, it is not pressure treated. Painting would help protect from the elements

What kind of wood? How thick are the boards?

Asked by: BoaterBob
My box says "Solid Fir Construction," probably Asian fir, which I have read is comparable to teak, which is resistant to damage from insects, fungus, and moisture decay. It smells like cedar, a sign that it contains some kind of natural insect-repelling oil. I plan on treating it with teak oil rather than painting it. I bought 2 and have just begun assembly. Am impressed so far by the light weight and sturdiness of the wood. It looks just like the picture above (and below.)
