The Basilica Tile is a beautiful design that is suited for both Direct Mount or Grid application. The 12 in. pattern makes it well suited for both small and large spaces. If you are planning to direct mount these to your ceiling, you will love the way that they overlap. Perfect for both commercial and residential applications, these tiles are made from thick 0.03 in. vinyl plastic. Their lightweight yet durable construction make these tiles easy to install. 100% Waterproof, these tiles are washable and won't stain due to humidity or mildew. A perfect choice for anyone wanting to add that designer touch at an amazing price. Since your ceiling will more than likely have partial tiles at the perimeter, you will have to cut your tiles to size for those areas. This can create a gap running into the wall with some designs. Since the Basilica design has a very minimal projection, many of our customer's do not find the need for a border tile. Can these be painted? Can they be used on a porch ceiling since hot and cold weather could effect the tiles?
These are made of PVC. You can paint them, but you would need the correct paint that would stick to PVC. They would be fine outdoors. Heat at 120F would cause some warping. Freezing temps make them brittle, but usually only if handled at that temp.
Can this tile be used in outside porch?
They are waterproof PVC so they would handle the elements. As long as the adhesive is compatible with both the PVC and the material that you would gluing it to, the tile will work perfectly fine.
Is there a way to buy a sample?
You certainly can, but not on Home Depot. You would have to visit our website, udecor, to order a sample
do these have a flat or matte finish?
These ceiling tiles, being made of PVC, will naturally have a gloss to them. The design tones that down a bit, but there isn't anything under that amount of sheen. No flat or matte finish is available.
What is faux tin? Is it still tim or is it vinyl?
It’s a form of plastic. But looks real. Very easy to install with adhesive.
can they work on popcorn ceiling?
I am not aware of any adhesive that would work properly on a textured ceiling. From my experience the adhesive cannot obtain a good grip from all the little bumps of the popcorn and ends up failing. Failing adhesive would cause falling tiles.
Can these go on popcorn ceiling ? If yes what kind of adhesive is needed?
Yes, it will work with popcorn. You will just need to install a drop frame. 3 to 4 inches. Way harder
I am not aware of any adhesive that works properly on textured ceilings. If you removed the texture, then you can use any General Construction Adhesive. Use a Surface Mount Grid system instead if you are not able to remove the texture.
I will be applying it to an unpainted plywood surface.
