How do I know if my windows need to be replaced?

Other things to watch for include windows that are more and more difficult to open, or warping, rotting, or otherwise damaged frames. Wood windows offer a variety of grains and color options to complement your decor and can be outfitted with your choice of contemporary or traditional hardware. Our service providers can help you match your window replacements to your trim and floors for the best possible look.
How can I prepare for my wood window replacement project?
You can help prepare your home for window installation in a number of ways. Before one of our local installers comes to your home for the installation, remove any blinds, window treatments, and security sensors on your window. You may also want to remove any hanging wall decor that might fall during the project. Additionally, making sure that there is a clear path to the windows that are being worked on will help your window installers finish on time.
How long will it take to have my windows replaced?
Several factors can impact the timeline of your wood window installation project. These include the condition of your home as well as the number and size of your new windows. Our installers always work as quickly and efficiently as possible to complete your project.

There was some confusion at first for my project to sort out what if anything was covered by warranty and when we finally settled it. One window is covered by warranty and I had one new window installed. Thanks for your help on delivering what was promised.

Called to reschedule the morning of the install. Gave the rain as an excuse which IMHO was BS as I have 2 foot eaves and it wasn't windy so rain would not have been a problem. When they did come they didn't clean up sawdust in front of our house, put in the wrong handle on one window. First installer that came to the door stunk like cigarettes. Told him to leave.

All the representatives were clear and informative. The installation crew led by Michael was excellent! The finished job looked very professional. I have used Home Depot before, e.g., for doors and I will use them again. No surprises! Great service! Very professional and personable.

Wood Window Replacement

There’s something special about the look of an authentic wood window. Quality wood replacement windows add warmth, richness and architectural impact to any style home. Window grilles, styles, and designer hardware give you the flexibility to achieve the look you want. Natural wood also provides structural stability and is an excellent insulator, which can help lower your energy costs. Let The Home Depot replace your windows for you.

Benefits of Natural Wood

There are numerous benefits to having new wood windows installed in your home. With wood windows, the interiors can be painted or stained to complement your decor, while the vinyl- or aluminum-clad exteriors are maintenance-free. You can even choose from different wood species to match or complement your floors and trim. Our wood windows also feature a high-performance glass system to minimize heat transfer and damaging UV light. Finally, choose from a variety of traditional or contemporary hardware options in durable, upscale finishes. With wood windows professionally installed by The Home Depot, a full perimeter weather-stripping is included in the replacement process to seal out drafts, wind and water.

Maintenance and Repair

After choosing the right wood windows to install, complete with your choice of interior and exterior colors, hardware options, trim styles, and other custom features, it is critical to maintain them over time to help avoid expensive repairs or one-off replacements. While our wood windows are durable and carefully crafted, it is important to wipe down the frames periodically with a damp cloth. Warm water and a small amount of cleaning solution are sufficient. Once clean, be sure to inspect for cracks and a strong, intact seal around all parts of the window. Proper maintenance is vital to preserving the appearance of your wood windows and helps ensure a longer lifespan.
