A:  You could use it but it takes hex bit drill bits. These bits are more expensive. Your best choice would be to use a drill with conventional drill bits.

        Q:Where is the battery made?

        Answer This Question

A:  My batteries are all mixed together, but my 5ah battery packs are all assembled in Mexico. The cells are either made in China or S Korea. My smaller packs are mixed in locations. I think it's a crap shoot as to what you will get in a combo. If it's any consolation, all my Craftsman V20 packs have cells made in Korea and are assembled in China. Go figure.

A:  I ordered mine on line, the first time UPS got the delivery wrong, Home Depot customer service took care of me and sent me another one. They also gave me an additional discount, that I truly appreciate. I often purchase from home depot on line. it's easy and sometimes a better price.

Q:When useing the drill on 2 the drill makes a loud noise when you let off the trigger. It sounds like gears clacking and you can definetly feel it in your hand.Is this some type clutch or a brake of some kind? Answer This Question

A:  no a loud noise is not normal. check if your chuck is fastened well. if you open the chuck jaws all the way you can see a torx screw ion the inside. also check if the clutch isn't stuck on a weird setting

        by|May 13, 2021

A:  I have two of these drills (bought about 5 months apart) and they both make this noise, mostly when stopping from a higher speed. I thought I remembered that the drill had a brake so I looked it up in my manual. Under "Variable Speed Trigger Switch" it says "To turn the tool off, release the trigger switch. Your tool is equipped with a brake. The chuck will stop as soon as the trigger switch is fully released." The clacking noise, when releasing the trigger, is kind of odd but it does appear to be the brake. I like my drills but I don't use them enough to be able to determine if the brake clacking causes unusual wear on the them or not.

Q:Can this be used before repainting the roof eaves, roof gutters and the house façade window frames to have all those surfaces ready to apply the prime and the paint?

        Answer This Question

A:  Yes, anything with removing paint site but it might be slow compared to other Sanders more for stripping finishes.

        by|Apr 27, 2021

A:  Whatever surface it can fit against, can be sanded. A gutter would be hard, due to gutter contour. That is not a deficiency of the sander, just due to contour.

Q:Should 3 LED bars be illuminated when the 20V 5Ah battery is fully charged? I got the DCD791 kit yesterday and would like to use it. However an initial check of the battery gauge showed only one lit LED. So I put the battery in the charger but the charger showed fully (75-100%) charged (solid red light - no blinking). Nevertheless, I left the battery in the charger for several hours. No change, just one lit LED (leftmost LED, closest to gauge button). Should I try running the drill until the battery is depleted and see how it charges then? Or should I just return the kit to Home Depot? I really like the drill and wish I could use it.

A:  When fully charged all 3 light. If it doesnt after charging return it

              by|May 3, 2021

A:  You need to make sure the battery is all the way in the charger. Sometimes it takes a little force when it is new to seat in the charger correctly.

A:  I have the same drill and battery and I really like them. The batteries are usually shipped with only a partial charge so I'm not surprised that only the leftmost LED would light up when pressing the test button. But all three should definitely light up once fully charged. I have several DeWalt tools, batteries, and chargers and they always light up all three lights, when pressing the test button, once fully charged. It sounds like you do have a problem but I don't know if it is with the LEDs, the actual batteries in the pack, or the charger. I'd try charging it again and if no improvement, take it back to Home Depot for a replacement battery and charger. I think you'll like the drill once you get the problems sorted out.
