Q:Can this unit also be flush-mounted on the surface of the wall if attached at stud points, instead of being recessed into the wall?

Answer This Question
A: It is sized to go between studs, so it'll catch one stud vertically if mounted on top of a wall. I surface mounted my unit, but put bridging between two wall studs for extra nailing strength. Works perfectly. I had opened the wall cavity, intending to recess mount the unit, only to find that this particular bay was used to house water piping for the upstairs bath...who knew?!?

A: Someone else asked that question and the answer was no,but, There may be a way to do so.The sides would have to be extended because that part was to be in the wall. The wall I had is a 2"x 3' SO it was not flush against the wall. All I did was put a 1 x 1 between the wall and unit

Answer This Question
A: A pad was not included. Of note, this product is not made from a "ready to finish" wood. It has a plastic or melamine coating, which is why I sent it back.
