Q:What is the length of the piece? We are building a 4 ft x 8 ft on ground garden 12 inches high. One kit available seems weak, and someone suggested hurricane joints. Will these ties work?

Answer This Question

A:  Hi Gardener, this is Colin from Simpson Strong-Tie. The overall height of the H2.5AZ is 6". This tie provides a positive connection between truss/rafter and the wall of a structure, or a deck joist over top of a beam to resist wind and seismic forces. If you need more information or have additional questions, please contact the Simpson Strong-Tie Customer Service team at 800-999-5099. Thank you.

        Answer This Question

A:  Hello Todd, this is Ricardo with SImpson. The suggested fastener for the H2.5A is a 0.131 x 2.5" nail. If you go with the shorter N8D5HDG-R, which is a 0.131 x 1.5" nail, it will change the uplift load capacity of the hurricane tie. If you would like to discuss this further, please contact us at (800)999-5099

A:  Yes with the right screws for metal

            by|Apr 25, 2023

A:  Hi, thank you for your message. This is Ricardo with Simpson Strong-Tie. Unfortunately, the H2.5A is only for wood-to-wood applications. For steel (CFS) applications I would recommend you take a look at the S/H2.5 which is designed specifically for steel application connections with #10 self-drilling screws. If you need more information or have additional questions, please contact the Simpson Strong-Tie Customer Service team at 800-999-5099. We look forward to hearing from you.

                        Answer This Question

A:  Hi Scott, this is Colin from Simpson Strong-Tie. Maybe, but you'll need to check with the building designer when it comes to replacing specified products. The H2.5A is a hurricane tie that provides a positive connection between the truss/rafter and the wall of the structure to resist wind(uplift) and seismic(F1 & F2 lateral load). The A23 is an angle that can be used to make a wide range of 90 degree connections and resists seismic (F1 and F2) lateral loads. If you need more information or have additional questions, please contact the Simpson Strong-Tie Customer Service team at 800-999-5099. Thank you.

                          Answer This Question

A:  They don't really hold any load. They are commonly referred to as hurricane ties acting to tie the floor rafters/ roof truss to the wall to prevent uplift during a high winds. They are not an alternative to LUS26
