Not this one.
Started the first time after about 5 pulls. Figured it was just a prime issue. Drilled two holes. Turned it off to set the poles. Didn’t want to start. Finally started after 20 pulls or so. But it was hanging and about ripping my fingers off. Did two more holes before it died. Next pull, the pull string broke. Works pretty good….if it works. Complete garbage, and judging from the other reviews…not isolated. Hopeful I can get a refund. I’ll just go rent one.

Good.. when it wants to work
This is a good tool to have when redoing a fence . The only problem is that it is very hard to start. Sometimes it will turn on with no problem , but then it won't turn back on until it cools off. when I was able to turn it only I was able to drill about 30 holes in 30 minutes or so. maybe a minute or so per hole. works well in clay but you need to spray water into your hole. worked well in sandy soil with no issues . I would give it 5 stars if it worked consistently and not when it wanted to.

          legend force 52cc auger
bought this to set 30 4×4 posts for a privacy fence .It works great in clean dirt and will even cut thru tiny roots and turn out small rocks . A few things on operations : the 8" bit is great for post holes but it's short , the engine will be nearly on the ground for a 24" hole , I had to use a second person to help run it ...wich is easy it has 2 handle bars . second people said they had problems starting/restarting , I only primed the bulb until there's fuel in bulb for initial start , then one prime after that on cold starts . for hot starts(in-between posts) I just put it in on position and start , I've never pulled it more than 3 times to start . well worth the money for me and I had the luxury of setting posts at my pace . if I end up setting more I will buy a small extension for the bit just to be easier on back .

Impressive machine. Received unit in good condition out of the box, well packed. Set up and assembly was very easy per the included instructions. Start up was a little bit of a challenge due to the fact there is no prime button, but it started within 10 to 15 pulls the first time. I used premixed fuel, 50 to 1 mix, and it starts and runs great. I usually have to pull less than 4 times with the choke on. Then 1 or 2 more pulls to start. Operation was very easy. Set the unit and squeeze the thumb trigger. It does take some practice to figure out a feel for the unit and the way it gives feedback. By the end of the first hole I could tell the difference between a root and a rock and if the unit was bogging down. I dug 15 posts in about 4 to 8 minutes each depending on the debris in the hole, and I hit just about everything here in Washington's finish backfill yards. Overall, this is a great investment and worth the price. I foresee lots of use and post hole digging is no longer a headache thanks to this digger. Nice product.

Digs the holes and saved my back
This Auger comes with a 8” Auger bit and drills a perfect hole fast and easy, it was easy to assemble by just adding the Auger bit with one bolt and gas and start digging holes. After drilling the holes just clean the loose dirt out of the holes with a post hole digger, real easy. Take your time you own it, you’re not renting it. If you don’t think you will ever use it again you can just sell it, you will get most of your money back and still be Cheaper then renting one.

The unit took me about five minutes to put together. It is made with high quality material. The auger bit at the bottom allows you to easily get your holes started without the larger blade doing all of the work. The unit is very well balanced and has throttle controls on one of the handles. I made several test holes when we tested it. First one was with two people. That was really not necessary as the auger itself does the majority of the work. There is a spring that assists the digging but also to help lessen the unit jerking around when it hits something solid. The unit easily fits right back into the box in came in and that makes it very easy to store. I highly recommend this unit and look forward to its many uses! I am replacing a fence this summer and having this to dig out the holes for the posts will come in very handy. I am also planting about 15 roses this summer and having this to dig a nice deep hole will come in very handy!

The Legend Force Earth Auger is a very nice tool that will make your job very easy. It assembles in a couple steps and simple to operate. It can be handled by an average build person with little resistance. The throttle works well though it’s on the side you stand on when starting, so you could be standing on it as you pull the cord. That’s the other thing. The pull cord was really hard to yank at first. Enough that it pulled my shoulder and fingers. It kept fighting me and was not a smooth process. The bulb to choke the line was hard to locate at first due to its placement. All in all a good machine.

Legend Force 52 cc 1-Man Earth Auger with 8 in. Bit: I chose this product to help me with digging holes needed for placing fence posts, and planting some trees in my backyard. I have very hard clay dirt, and really need something durable and strong to power through the tough dirt for my projects. This Auger saves so much time, and effortlessly cuts through that clay dirt like a power drill. I cannot say enough of how much I enjoy this tool. My hole digging was done so much faster, and cut back on the amount of time I had expected it to take to complete my fence project.

Really great one-man auger with good power that is relatively east to manage. At the end of this review is a video of an overview and demonstration I made of this auger. I like that I can use it by myself for those time I don't have a helper around. I used it on post holes in thick clay and hit roots, rocks and the like. It digs fast when there are no obstructions and the throttle is easy to manage for slow/fast digging. This auger's 52CC engine is larger than most in its class and it comes with an 8" wide auger that can dig holes 30" deep, which is about where you want fence posts. Auger motor assembly is 22 lbs and the auger bit is 13 lbs, so it is not too heavy to move around. The engine is two cycle and takes 1:50 oil/gas mixture fuel. The auger comes with two wrenches for removing and installing the auger bit. Assembly essentially includes screwing on the bore head and installing the auger blade. The auger is durable and made of steel. Starting it includes the standard fuel priming bulb and choke procedures. This auger is made in China.

Excellent tool. Not too heavy and does good for a single person. The gas gap is somewhat difficult to screw on and off with large hands and to get it to line up correctly. Would prefer a simple hitch pin type assembly for taking the auger bit off and on rather than needing wrenches but just a minor detail. Initial setup took no longer than 10 mins and it was up and running on the 2nd pull. Took no time to dig a one foot hole with no struggle at all. Perfect width for 6x6 lumber for when I'll be building my new deck . Excellent product.

                Underpowered
Does decent in topsoil but lacks power in clay soils. Not enough power to bring soil to the top.

                  Hard to Start.
Auger works awesome once you get it fired up. never stalled once. extremely powerful. went through our super dense black clay gumbo soil with little issue. still have not figured out the easy start trick though. sometimes it takes 10 minutes of pull starting. still would recommend it.

It does what it is supposed to do. I find it difficult to start. it needs compression release. I got it mainly to make holes for planting berries and such. it suffices for that use. I planned to use it for post holes as well, but considering the effort it takes to get a hole of much depth, I don't know if I can use it for that.

Easy to assemble and use. Tightningof nuts and bolts on auger spring necessary after very short use. If these came with a thread lock it would hold up much better. Does well in normal soil. If caliche is present then pour some water in hole. Then try again in a few minutes. Worked for me every time. If dirt is a little loose and having a hard time taking it out pour some water in and try again. Works well for a perfectly clean hole. I augered 42 holes about 18-24 inches deep and about 10-12 inches of normal soil before the clay in about 5-8 minutes per hole. This is the second auger of this type I’ve owned over the years. Rubber grip on handle bars will tear your hands up. Use leather gloves. Buying parts seems difficult. Availability through Home Depot or the manufacturer would be great. Other brands that fit available all over the web. The fuel hoses were not connected to carburetors out of the box. For price and manufacture warranty not bad overall. Beats a porthole digger all day! Would buy again. A smaller bit would be recommended to drill pilot hole. I believe this would make the 8 inch hole easier at least in my harder earth.
