This AC was easy to install. It blows cold air, just what I needed for my garage. I like to work on things in my garage and now I can during the hot AZ summer. I do need to be directly in front of the unit to stay cool enough.

This window A/C unit is a quantum leap above the status quo. Midea is the manufacturer of many recognizable brands of air conditioners, and they also make their own house brand. In the case of this unit, they've pulled out all the stops to produce a unit that is truly exceptional. The unit is designed like a mini-split, with the evaporator coil and blower in the interior section and the compressor, condenser coil, condenser fan, and power electronics in the exterior section. All three motors (compressor, blower, and condenser fan) are variable-speed DC motors, which the unit's electronics ramp smoothly to avoid the harsh cycling sounds and power spikes of traditional units. Moreover, because the motors are variable-speed, the logic drives them only as hard as necessary to achieve the required refrigerant pressures and coil temperatures given the prevailing ambient conditions, meaning this unit is extremely energy efficient and quiet. Owing to the unit's unique form factor, installation is more involved than for a traditional window A/C. If you're taking your time to do it correctly, expect to spend 2-3 hours installing it, and plan to leave it installed year-round. Note that proper installation does require putting screws into your window frame. The included brackets support a wide range of common window sizes. The included Wi-Fi adapter is an intriguing addition. Several different remote control apps are supported. Some information is reported through the Wi-Fi interface that is not available any other way, such as the interior and exterior temperatures. Additionally, the app allows programming a temperature curve to apply while you sleep to optimize your comfort and the unit's energy consumption. It is unfortunate, however, that the Wi-Fi interface apparently requires Internet connectivity and is not designed for local control. This means that the Wi-Fi features will become unusable whenever the company decides to decommission its app servers. One small downside to the smoothly ramping motors is that the compressor motor sweeps through a range of low frequencies, some of which are bound to match a natural resonant frequency of your room. This causes a low-frequency rumble at some compressor speeds, which sounds/feels as though a large diesel truck is idling somewhere outside. It's an acceptable tradeoff for the otherwise fantastic advantages offered by this design. Aside from that, some units will squeak momentarily when ramping up the compressor motor from a stop, partially negating the noise advantage of smoothly ramping the motor up. It appears to be luck of the draw whether you get a squeaky unit. Overall, I would highly recommend this unit as a significant advancement over the old way of building A/C units. Midea are experts in the industry, the manufacturing juggernaut that you've probably never heard of until now, and they've designed a product the way air conditioners should have been built for the last 20 years but haven't been. There is no reason to buy units of the old design anymore. This is the one you want.

The midea brackets made the unit easy to install with easy instructions. The unit fits perfectly with the extension brackets. The until’s unique u shape makes it run super quiet compared to the 4 other units we have without that design. The larger BTU allows my high ceiling living room with 28 windows cool down beautifully. If I have to ever replace one of my other units it will be with a midea.

Very quiet and efficient. Seems very secure because window is only opened a few inches. Comes with all necessary mounting brackets. Installation video plus printed installation instruction facilitated straightforward installation. App on smart iPhone is actually useful to turn on remotely when work schedule is erratic. Kind of heavy but the 12000 unit is only about 3 lbs heavier than 8000 model

I have only had this in place for a week, but I am very impressed at how quiet it runs. Inside if it’s actively cooling, it sounds like a low fan otherwise you don’t even notice it. Not noticeable during movies. Outside it is a little louder but still much quieter than other new window AC units I’ve used. I wouldn’t be annoyed sitting by it outside.

This a A/C game changer without a doubt. The design is great because no air comes through when the unit is not on like most A/C. It did take time to install it correctly but it is worth it. Thumbs up to Midea and I'm ready to change all of my A/C to the U shape type by Midea.

I researched what my options were for window units that would feel more secure in a second story window than your typical unit that relies solely on the fiberglass window sash to secure it from flopping out the window, and settled on saddle and U-shaped units. The saddle unit caught my attention because you still have a clear view out your window, and the weight of the unit is placed on the wall below your window instead of the window itself. I purchased one and attempted installation. At no point did I feel that the unit was secure enough to let go of without flopping out my window. It was heavy, and the weight of it was distributed very awkwardly. It was a two person job. I ended up returning that and purchasing the Midea u-shaped 8000 BTU unit with little expectation that it would install any easier. I was wrong. 10/10 would recommend the Midea. It took a while to install because it was my first time, but I would consider the install easy. It was also lightweight enough to lift myself. Next year would be way quicker. It feels sturdy and secure, and I’m no longer worried about it flopping out the window. They provide everything you need for installation, including foam pieces to cover and block any gaps. The app was easy to set up, and I can now operate it with my phone, the remote, or by voice using Alexa. It's as whisper quiet as they advertise, which is also nice in a bedroom.

This unit is super quiet and efficiently cools the appropriate area without a problem. We’ve also had another smaller unit in our office for a few months now and it’s been great too. Keeps everything as cool as desired and looks good too! A++

This little model of Midea is one of the best air conditioners that I have encountered since buying air conditions. This little number caught my eyes as I was looking over the usual suspects, ie. GE, Friedrich, and Frigidaire which was my last air conditioner which did not last pass 5 years. You will never be able to tell the A/C unit is on , it gets super cool in a matter of seconds,and very very compact. weights about 73 pounds.

Super quiet, stabilization bar included, nice design so window can be used. Easy for a knowledgeable person to install. Cools humid house on dehumidify only.

It was relatively easy to set up after i put my mind to it. Plugged it in and was cooked down in seconds! So happy i got this it even looks cool.

Ordered the Midea unit online when it was still available and happy with purchase. At inspection the box looked new so no problem there. As many have mentioned the install is tricky and I highly recommend to watch the Midea install videos and other YouTube vids so you have an idea what you're in for. After install the unit works well in cooling my apartment, it's placed in the kitchen so a 12,000 BTU ensures I can cook comfortably Would purchase again.

This AC definitely lives up to all the hype. It is the quietest AC I've ever had. The compressor ramps up and down slowly, so you hardly hear the difference between when the compressor is running, and when it's just the (really quiet) fan. Installation is fussy. If you have storm windows, you'll need to add a piece of wood on your window sill to lift the AC over the lip of the storm window. Just be aware that you'll need to be handy to do this retrofit. It's well worth it. Amazing AC!

AC itself is perfect Five Start perfect. Extremely quiet like split system AC. Cannot hear compressor. Dry mode is great. Wayway better than any American company built AC. It is beautiful as well. It comes a support rack saving 50 dollars. The user guide is bad. It's like a grand master build AC unit and controls, a rookie designed the installation, insulation, and user guide. Make sure you read carefully multiple times. Use common sense, adds more support below the support rack.

Very well thought out design. Quiet and should be very efficient. Quality appears to be some of the best. Install was pretty easy once bracketing was installed. Would recommend two people to set in place on the bracket.

So far so good. Only had it for a few weeks. The quietest window unit I have ever heard. Being able to control with ALEXA is awesome. No more getting up or even fumbling for the remote in the dark. Still need to see how it performs in the dead of Summer but seems to be doing just fine. Super cold and keeps my large room with vaulted ceilings very comfortable. The drain plug is a GREAT new addition. LOVE this unit!

I purchased a unit and when I installed the next year it did not power on. I was alllowed a replacement unit lwhich lasted the summer put that unit in the next summer and different error code and would not cool. Midea would not replace even though 2nd new unit was less than a year old wanted me to get a technician report$$$ to show seal broken to replace. I will just buy a non Midea brand that will laat at least 5 years. Do not buy.

This unit is so quiet. I had to modify the mounting because I did not have hung windows. But overall, very satisfied with the unit. Only been using for 1 week.

This is a nice unit. The installation was a bit different from a normal air conditioner, but it was easily accomplished. It cools the room nicely and is very quiet unless you have the fans on the top speed and you’re close to the unit, otherwise it’s great. The next time I need a new air conditioner I will certainly consider buying another of one of these.

Purchased in July 2022. Installation was easy and the unit worked perfectly for the rest of the summer. Installed in June 2023 for the summer season and it worked for about 6 weeks and of course stopped blowing cold air just weeks after the 1 year warrantee. Called customer service and got nowhere. Read the similar reviews about this unit only lasting a season or two. I love the concept and when it worked it was great but certainly should last longer than 2 seasons.

Looks good and is quiet, but is weak. I spent almost $500 to replace an old ac unit. It doesn’t cool the room even as good as the old one, although the room is far smaller than the specs suggest. A major disappointment.

So far it's working just as it should. I was concerned because the box got torn and banged up pretty bad during shipping but the inner packaging still protected it.

Outstanding design. Efficient & quiet. Awkward to install (requires setting up the outside support brackets) - but once done, it's worth it. Also, NOT made in China!
