Exceeded our expectations. We priced out a similar surround at a store that specializes in fireplace surrounds. It would have cost us $1700.00 more than the one purchased from Home Depot. That's correct: $1700.00! Installation was relatively easy. Very pleased.

These are wonderful fireplace doors! They were easy to install and look great.

Received it on time, installed the insert in the hour long duration that it estimates. This was installing in June so we’ll see how well it does with the heat of a roaring fireplace in nov. - feb. As of right now, I’d recommend the product. Instructions made sense, came with everything that you need, no need to correct any issues. Product looks and works great so far.

Very nice set of glass doors and screen. I'm replacing old with new in an old house. I had to cut 1 3/4 inches of the bottom in order to install it properly. Not a big deal. Looks great.

Good product easy to install, only problem was insulation supplied for frame was inadequate and a third of what you need. Still very happy with the $225.00 we paid for it.

We were a bit confused in ordering the correct size because there are not measurments for the actual door/glass area and the opening measurements overlap between sizes. We finally ordered the small & it fit perfectly. Installation was easy & quick. We elected store pick up & it came a day early. The door set is definitely more efficient than the very old one we replaced and looks great.

My Opening is 36.25"" Wide by 29.25" high. There are bricks on the left and the right sides and tile on the bottom, the bricks create a flat face above the opening and down the sides. The rise of the tile is only an eighth off the hearth floor so no big gap drop off. The lintel on mine is metal capped and a heatilator surround inside. I installed the riser because that raises the top of the frame high enough to meet more of the brick. Their recommendation tend to make you think smaller is fine for your opening. I for one am glad I got the large size, as I feel I am getting more frame on the brick surround which helps the insulation do it's job even though they do not suppy enough of the stuff really, others have mentioned this. Since my bottom does not meet any face I just used that extra insulation and stuffed the gaps once it was secured in place. Any width of less than 35" may not be able to use the large due to the bottom tension brackets fit into holes which you will not be able to access, IMO. I feel my opening is fairly standard not small or large. Jockeying around the doors is not easy alone. If you work well with others get someone you like to help. Working by yourself I'd leave the yellow cords on the glass door til you get the unit in place then cut those, keeps the doors from flopping around. I installed the handles last. There is also an installation video for GHP on YouTube so watch that. Been too warm for a fire yet so I'll have to report back on that later, ENJOY!

This fireplace door is one of the best investments we have made in our home. Not only is it beautiful, and I love to look at it when we are not using the fireplace, I realized today how energy efficient it is. The door was not easy to install in our particular fireplace, which I knew was going to be a size issue when I purchased it. Our fireplace opening was not standard by any means and I chose not to special order at the prices that they charge. With minor modifications my husband did an excellent job of installing this door. It was 23 this morning and I decided to light a fire. When I opened the glass doors I felt the cold come rushing in and thought we had left the damper open. The damper was not open it was closed I truly appreciated how much this door kept the cold out and our heat in. It is amazing that it is not only efficient but beautiful and very simple to use.

The unit was easy to install. We have been using it for about 2 weeks. We using our Clairmount glass fireplace doors with a gas log and without the spark arrestor doors. We love the smoke glass, it help to hide the some of the accumulation of soot build up, from 40+ years of burning wood.

I was very pleased with this product. I was able to install it by myself. Just what I wanted. It has finished off the room.

Compared to the cost of other fireplace doors, the quality of this product is acceptable with average value in my opinion. It looks great with a satin black finish that will match most decors and installs extremely easily. The only issues with installation someone could run into is if the actual fireplace surround bows out or curves inward...then there will be gaps between the fireplace door frame and the surround. In my case, the gaps are small enough that they could be overcome with the fireplace insulation. Unfortunately, as other reviewers have stated, there is nowhere near enough insulation provided. Two small strips of insulation are provided with direction to manually split it into additional strips to fill in the fire door cavities. I have ordered additional insulation elsewhere online and will have to cut it to size to make it work. The product itself is made of extremely thin sheet metal and feels like it could be bent extremely easily. However this only seems like it could be a problem if the product is manhandled excessively during the install. Also, the paint coat is thin and can scratch very easily if you are not careful during the install (e.g. don't let your screwdriver slip and don't let the frame slide against masonry). The paint is really only an issue at the bottom pivot point of the screen mesh doors. The mesh doors pivot on rods that are insert into holes in the door frame. The rods on the bottom corners of the doors have a recess where cotter pins are installed. These cotter pins are what hold the doors~1/8" off the door frame thus allowing them to pivot. Removing the cotter pin allows the doors to drop such that the rods in the upper corners of the doors exit the upper holes in the frame to enable the removal of the mesh doors. The issue with the cotter pins and the thin paint is that opening and closing the mesh doors causes the cotter pins to also spin on the door frame which in turns scrapes away the black paint to reveal bright metal. This isn't a really big deal at the moment, but the scratched metal revealed is a bit of an eye catcher and is a highly likely place to rust if you ever have moist air in your fireplace. Finally, one of my mesh screen doors has a large dimple in it that is about the size of a quarter. The dimple does not affect the performance of the product, but it is aesthetically unpleasant albeit only when the glass doors are open and there is no fire. If this product wasn't a mail order item and a birthday gift for my wife (who doesn't care about the dimple), I would have tried to exchange it. Although I have listed a bunch of negatives, the product still looks good when closed up. I have not used these doors with a fire yet, but once I get more insulation, I expect it will perform adequately.

Door hardware that came with set did not fit. Even after coordinating exchange with company, ended up needing to buy different screws.

Easy to install and delivered quickly.

Very disappointed in this fireplace cover since I previously installed the same model which was fabricated perfectly. This one had gaps at each vertical and horizontal seam and was only assembled with 1 tack weld were as the other one was tight and welded at several locations. One of the handles was not fabricated well at all and I had to call for another one and that was a project. They sent me an incorrect handle the first time and the second was not in stock. This company is a group type of company that is not a dedicated fireplace cover manufacturer. They also cheap out on the insulation they send you that goes in the frame before install. They definitely need better quality control.

These doors look great and definitely met our expectations for a reasonable price.
