Intro = Entry to Bat Power Lawn Equip.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have had this mower for a couple of weeks now. It's the start of the season and grass is growing rapidly so I have used it 3 times. I have a few takeaways thus far: This mower is more powerful than the former gas push mower models I have used. This mower does a great job of both cutting and bagging the grass. Although the high thick grass does not seem to be a problem, I belive the battery is drainf faster than it will be when I am on a regular schedule and the grass growth slows down a bit. I have a large lawn and it took me three charges to get through it yesterday. I wish the batteries were a bit cheaper as I would buy a backup. I was so impressed with the mower that I went and bought a chain saw. I am as pleased with that as I am with this. My lawn is fairly uneven in places and I was concerned as I read a few reviews where this was a problem. It isn't. Again, it performs as well if not better than the gas power mowers used previously. I bought this mower for my front yard only as my gas ridder is in the shop. I may be selling that a purchasing a Ryobi ryder at this point given this positive experience with battery power equipment.

The Blades Do Indeed Gouge The Deck
Only used once to mow a small, relatively flat yard with a couple of dips. Afterwards, I noticed the underside of the deck was already being gouged by the blade. This a problem for longevity and also a safety hazard. Ryobi customer service confirmed that the mower should NOT be doing this, and advised me to return / exchange. I will be purchasing the the Toro electric mower instead since it is steel. Shame because this mows very well, but the design flaw and plastic deck is a deal breaker.

Good Battery powered mower, takes getting use to
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I noticed that most lawnmowers are now battery powered, so I reluctantly decided to switch after years of using gas. Overall this more has been very good, I would give it a B+ rating, it does take a transitionary period To get use to it. I like the fact that it’s very easy to stowaway and extremely compact I don’t have to worry about leaking gas or oil in my garage especially with young kids. The mower itself is about Half as loud as a gas mower, which is great because with a large family there’s always someone asleep in the house. You do have to learn to cut differently because this mower is less agile than a gas mower it wants to cut in long straight lines rather than a more nimble gas mower. Also on uneven bumps I felt the blade rub against the plastic housing at times it’s never really happened with a gas mower that has a traditional metal housing, this could be because the plastic is more bendable, which I really don’t have a problem with because most cars are made out of commercial grade plastics and foam nowadays. The batteries themselves have A long life and I was able to mow my medium-size lawn with the batteries straight out the box which both had a halfway charge. The self propel is a nice feature which I’ve never had on a mower but it’s also more useful when you don’t have to cut around a lot of corners. Overall it did a good job on my lawn and at the end I really like the look of it the fact that I don’t have to buy gas any longer and the compactability of it, it also looks really cool and modern my neighbor was blown away at the led lights. Overall I decided to keep it but it does take getting used to, comparing battery power to gas is like comparing a car from the 1960s to a modern car there’s a whole wide range of pros and cons you kind of have to wait them out and make your own decision if it’s right for you, in this case it made sense for me to go battery powered, especially with the dwindling selection of gas powered lawn mowers. Overall a good purchase!

        Easy to use
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought this lawn mower about 8 months ago. Easy to use. The self propelled feature is great. Does a very nice job on the grass. Folding handle makes it easy to store.

          Easy
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am disabled and pushing a mower is to much for me. Easy: self propelled. Starting a gas mower is to much for me. Easy: Battery powered electric. This mower was easy to get out of the box and up and running. Open top of box, cut 2 sides of box, lift handle, push out of box. Easy.

Blades are hitting the deck, unbelieable
After months of endless research I decided on Ryobi. I was so excited to use my new mower only to realize the huge issue I was having. The blade is hitting the deck, unacceptable for a $500 mower. This is very concerning as this was a huge investment for me. I'm now double thinking my decision in choosing Ryobi for my lawn care needs. I sent an email to Ryobi on 4/17/22 no response as of yet. I contacted them today (4/18/22) via the chat feature on their website only to be told I need to speak with someone. I called the number I was given (800-525-2579) only to be told I had a wait time of 30 mins. Its sad that I will now have to return this mower and begin a new search. I have the string trimmer and edger (RY40270-EDG) and so far no issues . Pity I cant say the same for the mower.

                NOT up to Ryobi standards
I purchased yesterday, used once, and returned today. The plastic deck was getting cut up by the blade. I have a flat yard. The deck is too flimsy. It would flex when going over small dips, like where my pop-up sprinklers are, causing the blade to dig even deeper into the deck. I did like the rest of the mower. Great battery life (which charge really fast), plenty of power, easy to maneuver, and easy to store. The aluminum handles and other parts seem to be high quality.

Quiet and long lasting battery life
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I only used once and I was skeptical at first for using a lawnmower that is battery powered but to be completely honest I was shocked that this mower did the job with no lag or bogging down on speed as I had not cut my grass for 2 months. I will never go back to gas powered again. I recommend staying top of the line series for better performance.

My first battery powered mower, I love it!!
I bought this as an upgrade from my gas mower. This mower is heavier than my gas mower, so I am glad it is self-propelled. I am very happy with the battery life. My lawn is 1/4 acre. It does an great job cutting the grass. My husband commented the lawn looked better than when I had used the gas mower! The pictures included are on the lawn that was just mowed with the Ryobi mower.

                      Self propelled
Lawn mower cut great, my only problem is bagging. I was covered with grass shooting out the top. Installed the bag as instructed and did all the trouble shoot. Contact customer service with no luck...After paying 500 plus for an lawn mower wouldn't expect this

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I recently purchased this lawn mower and it is exceptional. The switch from gas to battery is a great choice. This mower has the capability to handle anything a gas power mower can. It is Light weight and easy to use. Thank You RYOBI. The brand you can TRUST.

more powerful than a gas mower
This mower is pretty amazing. I had let the lawn area get really tall, my gas mower would struggle with the grass this height as would my older Ryobi. This mower powered through no problem at all. I triple cut the grass on a single battery. Bagging was a breeze. I would highly recommend this mower

                            Awesome Mower
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Just got the mower in March of 2022. It was super easy to set up right out of the box.I love the features on it and it is super quiet. I normally cut the lawn with a gas mower which is heavy to push and a pain to store gas for. Right away I noticed how easy this is to use and super simple to set the cut height for the grass.I think this a awesome mower. Thanks Ryobi

Fast delivery, i love the rapid chargers it shuts down so not to overcharge. You can hear the fan turn off to let you know it's done. Complete charge from empty within 30 mins. Mower: it does the job and perfect for my yard. I can do my front ysrd with 1 battery with self propelled on. Trimmer: can't complain, although shaft attachment gets a bit hot if continued use.

                                Bye bye Gas hello Battery!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My old gas mower bit the dust. I was always very frustrated with all the maintenance involved with a conventional gas mower. When I learned about the advances In battery powered lawn mowers I decided to give the RYOBI 40V HP brushless 21 in. self-Propelled mower a try as I had great luck with the 40V trimmer. I am very glad I went with the battery mower It does my hilly yard very well and is a breeze to maneuver. I can do my entire yard with one charge of the 6.0 amp hour battery. The rapid charger keeps the batteries running and it usually goes from empty to full charge in about 40 minutes to an hour. Overall I am impressed with this kit and wouldn’t think twice about recommending this to a friend. I couldn’t see myself ever going back to a gas mower.

perfext size mower for my yard. The blade is sharp and the battery power is perfect it comes with two batteries lasting up to an hour. The walk behind feature is a plus! The blades of grass are cut evenly and my yard looks amazing when im done. The other plus about the mower is that its quite.

Recommended, even for St Augustine grass
Read lots of reviews and was skeptical on the battery mowers. I think the ryobi performs very well. Im in central florida with just under 1/3 acre st augustine grass. I did order an extra battery, 2 was almost enough to get the yard done at medium height using medium to high speed, hence the 4 stars. Also, if I am delayed in cutting to 10days+ it will leave skippers regardless of overlap in cutting rows. Hitting the once a week mark is better. We've been getting lots of rain and grass is growing fast. After a month, I am pleased with the purchase. The mower is easy to manuever and vertical storing is great. So many matenance and sound benefits to the battery powered as well. The $750 ego did review better, but I'd still need another battery and $1k investment for a lawnmower is 2 years of lawn service in my neighborhood.

                                                Super Neat!
So I was extremely hesitant switching to electric as most people who have always used gas powered machines. First I just want to say it's a beautiful machine. Looks great. Mowing is pretty easy with it and I only use the self-propel for small slopes to save some battery which works for me. It folds up and doesn't take much room for storage and I love that because I don't have much storage to begin with. It does amazing with putting the grass and debris into the bag. It's almost like a vacuum! The lawn looks like green carpet afterwards! My two complaints: 1. It definitely could use some sturdier materials. I read that on some reviews before purchasing thinking maybe they were just too hard on it, but no...it in fact does need better materials for the deck and wheel axials. 2. Staying with quality, the blade does in fact hit the deck. I literally just took it out of the box and mowed my front yard with it and when I went to store it, the plastic on the sides under the deck had some pretty deep scrapes. I heard it while mowing but didn't think anything of it. Did it affect how well it mowed, no. It's just the thought that it's hitting the deck that is bothersome. Overall, I would recommend the mower, but get you two chargers if you want to charger your batteries up quicker and be able to finish your mow job the same day. I have about 1/2 acre and I can see it's going to take charging the batteries a couple times to get it done. If the batteries weren't so expensive then I would buy a couple more. Think of it like buying more gas for your gas powered mower!! Ha!

Don’t waste your time or $
Purchased this mower late May and have only used it out of desperation 3 times. Had to hire my lawn service back. The battery life is minimal and the blade height device doesn’t stay engaged. I have a small yard and have to re-charge the batteries 3 x to get the job done. Total waste of my 1 day off per week so I don’t use it. The 1st photo below is today (4th attempt at using the mower) and you can see how much of my lawn was cut with a full charge on the batteries. I will need to recharge them another 2x to finish. In addition to the battery life…the mower is super heavy and slow. When self-propel is engaged it moves slightly faster but not by much. I am tempted to go back to an old fashioned gas mower but heard battery was the way to go. I am not impressed and feel like I have been duped! I am a fairly strong woman yet thought “maybe it is just me”…”maybe I am out of shape”! The second time the mower was used, I had my son of 26 mow the lawn for me. I had not mentioned my issues as I wanted to give the machine the benefit of the doubt. When he finally finished…after re-charging multiple times, he too was disgusted. Hopefully I can return the mower for something of better quality. Until then…I am using a lawn service.

                                                    Needs improvement
Let me preface this by saying I work for Tesla. I know what electric is capable of. The two batteries are critical if you have a decent sized yard. (If you plan to use self propelled the whole time, get a third battery). This mower WILL NOT cut your entire yard no matter how small. It doesn't lift the grass to cut it when it's pushed down (like by the wheels on the previous pass) . That leaves patches. I alternate between five mowing patterns and have even started overlapping by half the deck width. Still happens. Also if you have some uneven spots like bumps from tree roots you'll get to experience the mower flexing and the blade hitting the deck sides. It's OK though they're plastic. Might be fixed with a better blade but honestly this is $500 it should work correctly out of the box

Like mower but blade cuts into the deck
There are so many things to like about this mower but one big concern. Getting it out of the box and set up is rather easy. I didn't have much of a problem clicking the grass catching bag on the frame like others. Wish I didn't have to wait the two hours to charge both batteries before the first use. I was anxious to try it. The two batteries are great if you need to switch on the fly. I have a .25 acre lot with some gardens and such and the batteries using the highest speed propel last about 30-32 minutes. I typically need just a few minutes on the second battery to finish. Plus the fast charger works with my other 40v Ryobi tool batteries. The battery fully charges in about an hour. Even with the two batteries on board (you only need one at a time, though) it is lighter than my old Toro gas mower. Start up is so easy. Click the handle into place, press the button and go. I like folding the handle back over; it makes it easier to walk around it in the garage (see picture). Also really like the one lever that adjusts all wheel heights. The cut is just fine with one blade; I'm glad I didn't spend the extra on the two blade model. Here's my very big concern. With trees, shrubs, gardens and such in the yard I have some angles that I have to shift the mower around without moving it. It appears that the mower deck, being made of plastic, will torque when I do that causing the blade to dig into the deck. See the pictures for 4 spots where that happened. A few other reviews mentioned this, but not that many. Unfortunately I am experiencing that. Since I have some sharp turns, I'm concerned that this will continue to happen. There were a few other irritations. There is a 1-2 second delay from when you press the self propel arm and when it starts moving. I want to start moving as soon as I make a turn and I frequently bump into the handle and will dislodge the speed lever (which should be able to click into a position, not float freely). It is a bit hard to turn the mower when at a stop or close to a stop. While the lawn mower really does a great job cutting the grass into small clippings, when using the bagger the small clippings will blow back between the top of the bag and the deck at me. Similarly they will come up around the plastic over the side discharge area. None of these things are terrible, just annoying. Overall, I really want to like and keep this mower, but concerned about the fact that the blade cuts into the deck. So, on the fence about this.
