How do I rent tools and trucks?
Stop by the Rental Center at your nearest Home Depot to see which trucks or tools you can rent. If you'd like confirmation before you drive there, call first to inquire about a truck or tool. Can I rent tools by the hour?
Tool rentals start at four hour time slots. Simply choose the length of time that suits you. Small home improvement jobs may only require a short rental period, and bigger jobs are no problem. You've got options to rent tools by the day, week, or month, too. If you need it longer than your initial rental period, call your Rental Center for an extension and avoid late fees.
When can I bring the tools back?
It's fine to return the tools early if you finish your project ahead of schedule, but on-time works, too. Just make sure to bring them back by the deadline listed on your rental paperwork. Please clean off residual dust, mud, and grime from the tool as well. If you need the tools longer, give the rental center a call to see if you can extend your rental period.
How long can I rent a truck?
Rent a moving van or truck for as long as you need it. For short trips, 75 minutes might be enough time. Otherwise, consider renting it by the week or the day, depending on the length of your project. Remember to factor in the drive between the store and the job site, as you'll need to return it to the same store where you rented it. Penske moving truck rentals allow round-trip options as well as one-way options, and they have different terms. Make sure to read the contract before you decide on a vehicle.
Do I need to refill the rental truck with gas?
Yes, please fuel up the truck before you return it. Make a note of the amount of gas in the tank when you receive the truck, and fill it with enough gas to match that level. If you don't, you'll have to pay a penalty known as the fuel replacement charge.
Do I just need a driver's license to rent a truck?
No, you must hold a valid driver's license and be 21 or older. Depending on your state, you might require car insurance, as well as a deposit or credit card hold, too.
