Battery Acid Expiration

I am considering getting the battery and battery acid, but do not need to activate the battery right away. Does the battery acid have an expiration? In other words, how long is it safe to store it for later use? If so, how long?
Asked by: WinT
Acid will last forever in the sealed container. After it is opened, the water will evaporate. If this happens distilled water to dilute back to correct concentration.

Why do we need 6 quarts of battery acid for ? much does the battery hold? does it need to be refilled every day, week, month, upon use? or will it be

enough to fill a new battery that we will need every day, week, month, year, or per use???????? then if you use the box is that safe to store after you open a corner to pour the acid out??????????? Your information is making it very hard to not skip this and call a plumber who will put in a great all in one pump for $600..............
Asked by: slycook
Once the battery is properly filled, it never needs more acid. If the fluid becomes low due to evaporation, use distilled water to fill it back up and dilute the acid back to it's original concentration. The 6 quarts sounds about right for a large automotive sized battery. Any left over acid should be taken to a recycling center. Wear goggles when handling acid

What is the actual concentration of H2SO4?

The MSDS declares a sulfuric acid concentration between 1% and 51%. That is an extremely broad range and an insufficient answer. So what is it really?
Asked by: Rusty
Yes the concentration is a little more than a quarter of its contents. if you have any additional questions please contact us at 800.991.0466 ext 3 for tech support

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good product It worked great but it's hard to know how much acid to add to each cell

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easy to fill battery with tubing from the box I bought this product to be used in conjunction with the basement watchdog sup pump combo. It is very to transport because of the shape of the box. I didn't have any trouble filling the watchdog battery with acid to activate it because of the tubing supplied with the box. Definately good way to fill batteries with acid.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not enough acid If you are filling a Watchdog battery that has 6 openings/cells, be careful that you fill each cell to the same level. The battery instructions ask you to fill each cell to just below the cap, and there was not enough acid supplied to do that. I had to purchase a second box of acid just to get them all level, and I had a LOT of leftover battery acid.
