Is this paint sun reflective? The white is naturally reflective, but will the Deep base gray reflect the sun as well?

Answer:
Hi paul,
Our Deep Base colors are not reflective, unlike the white base. We haven’t tested how many degrees the white base will drop the surface temperature since this will vary from location to location.
Good luck with your future projects!

Use on Fiber Cement Roof Slates

I have a roof with Eternit fiber cement roof synthetic slate. They are showing their age but the original dark gray semi-gloss coating weathering off in a few patches and the white fiber showing through. Actually this a result of pressure washing. My question is, will the Behr coating turn the whole roof flat (no gloss)? Also, will this paint adhere to the areas that are slightly glossy? When I say semi-gloss, it is approximately like natural slate. Please see the attached pix of the weathered and new slates

Answer:
Dear Mark,
Thank you for your question on BEHR® Multi-Surface Roof Paint. The BEHR Multi-Surface Roof Paint has a flat finish so the appearance of your roof would definitely change from a semi-gloss look. Previously coated surfaces need to be wire brushed or scraped to remove all loose coating.
Hope this helps, and best of luck on your project!

Customer Reviews

Rated 3.9 out of 5 by 46 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by product performed above expectation. A customer had a roof where the fiberglass in the shingles was beginning to "shine" in the sunlight. Product covered the shingles and gave the roof the uniform look the customer wanted. July 12, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Don't let this happen to you I ordered this paint online because it isn't available in stores. When the order arrived the box I opened looked like the picture-spilled, smeared paint which was obviously seen before the order went out; the can was in perfect shape, closed, not damaged in shipping. I could see that the brown was going to be too light and drove to the local store to return it. A very young manager said that all paint is made to order and not returnable. At home I went back to the website and there was nothing about not being able to return it. And, if its all custom made, why is it offered in only certain colors? VERY DISAPPOINTED, product looks very thin. There's a Canadian company that sells roof paint which is thick and fills in minor flaws; they ship to US all the time. June 28, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Went on smoothly, great coverage. Used on a rusty galvanized steel roof from the 1940 that had numerous imperfections, rust, nails etc. I rolled one half of the roof and sprayed the other half with my Wagner Sprayer. Instruction recommend the use a primer coat but these roofs had plenty of bite left in the previous coats of paint and rust, even after i thoroughly pressure washed them. I put one good coat of paint on using both methods, coverage was excellent. Cleanup with water was easy. Had a thunderstorm 2 hours after painting, paint held and a month later and numerous rain storms since, the roof looks great. We will see how it holds up after a few winters. August 13, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice color! The color matched the exterior of my house. The only negative side of it is , 1 gal is not enough for my 100 square ft asphalt shingles. September 1, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good Paint It takes two coats, I tried both paint brush and roller. The roller did not work so well on my roof .My roof was 6 inches between the ridges and a 9inch roller did not work. So I used a 4inch brush. September 20, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Works great! We purchased a lot next to us that has a garage on it. I wanted to match the roof color to our house without reshingling because the shingles are in good shape. This roof paint was the perfect solution. I applied it with a roller and it turned out great. August 9, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by bad experince the color in the pictur doesn't match with real can August 9, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Roof Paint The material it is made of is very durable thick and strong Gallon is set to cover 400sq ft but barely covers about 100ft. Make sure to consider this while planning to do your project I had to leave it unfinished till more paint m in by mail since you can't buy it at stores August 2, 2016
