Hi Kat,
Thanks for your question! The Bonding Primer won't fill in concrete divots; these will need to be patched with a filler before using the primer. Hope this helps, and good luck on your project! Best, Jeanette P.

Answer:
I do not think so. It can fill small cracks (less than 1/16 inch). It should help reduce spalling and flaking. If you patch the divots separately, this primer will help to hide the line between the patch and the original surface, and generally help the patch to stay put..

Answer:
Hello dcgou,
Great question. Yes, you should be able walk on the coating to apply the top coat paint after 4 hours or more. However, we would not recommend heavy foot traffic until the top coat is applied.
Best regards,
Kevin

Then, prime with a product like our No. 880 Bonding Primer and then apply something like our 1-Part Epoxy Floor paint. Once the product is applied, then the finish will repel water such that liquids won't be absorbed into the surface.
Please note that none of our products are designed to withstand cat urine, and so periodic cleaning and touching up may be needed. Best wishes for your project!

Hello Helpmeplz,
Thanks for your question. The choice of paint versus stain comes down to preference and project specifics. The stains we offer allow some aspects of the concrete to show through, and our semi-transparent concrete stain even shows a bit of the underlying color. Our two concrete stains can be applied to areas that will be driven on, whereas only our 1-Part Epoxy paint can be applied in those areas. Our stains give a flat finish, and the 1-Part Epoxy gives a satin. Our Porch & Patio Floor Paints (not drivable) come in Low-Lustre and Gloss finishes. Hope this helps!

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.4 out of 5 by 47 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by easy to apply and works great This bonding primer was rolled onto an old concrete porch floor and sidewalk around my house, very easy to apply, goes on clear. Followed up with Behr concrete paint, it is adhering very well, subjected to heavy foot traffic and exposed to the sun and still no wear. July 5, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Easy application. Used on concrete steps and sidewalk blocks - Preparation is KEY! Do not skimp on the prep. Applied with brush (epoxy style) to steps. Horizontal and vertical. No issues with adherence. Application went smoothly and relatively quickly. Four hour dry time was adequate. October 25, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Didn't do the job We used this primer under the Epoxy paint for a cement floor that is outdoors and covered by decking on a floor above. All instructions were followed, including roughing up the previous stained floor before applying the primer followed by the epoxy paint. The drying time instructions were all followed. However, a week or so later, it rained and the paint and primer immediately started bubbling up and popping off. You can clearly see the old stain color below (which was also a Home Depot product). So disappointed that all this time and money was spent on a project that looks worse after one week than it did before we started. Would not recommend either of these products to anyone. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Concrete floor primer Worked as per label and covered 400 square foot enclosed porch. Used for primer for porch and floor paint. Appears to work well so far, paint adhered but has not had traffic on it yet. October 16, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great product I painted a cement patio that was about 40 years old. I wanted to paint the floor and I had used this product before. Put several coats of paint on the floor and it is much smoother and looks clean and new. Thanks for the great paint and bonding primer. I have pressured washed another floor that I used the bonding primer with not problem. October 4, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great Product I laid this product down in my garage as prep for epoxy coating. Did the acid etching step per the kit, let dry two days, then put this down in the morning. Really created a tacky surface for the epoxy to adhere to. Time will tell whether the epoxy stays but I do feel like this product helped the process. September 27, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Did the job. Easy to apply,, My painter used this on a concrete sun porch floor that had previously been painted without any prep or primer. He scraped off most of the old paint and applied this primer. It dried quickly and the new paint adhered nicely, requiring only two coats for a good finish. September 6, 2016
