Customer Questions & Answers

Should I pre-drill the holes to attach to the house?

As I attach the Hardietrim to the house, if I need to pre-drill the holes, what type of screws should I use to secure the board to the house?
Asked by: Blacksmith
Best to use finish nails. If you don't have a finish nailer, then you must pre-drill the hole and screw it in. Hammers can damage this product

Can this trim be tacked in place with a finish nailer - 16 guage?

Asked by: JJPax
Yes. Larger nails tend to tear this up

where can i get some top trim for hardie board skirting

I used hardie board around the bottom of a mobile home for skirting, but I need some trim for the top to cover the screws
Asked by: bigjim
Did you find an answer to this? I have the same issue at one of my customer's house. The only trim I can find is the stuff that is 3/4" thick. Could have sworn that there was thin Hardie trim product out there.

Dimension of item?

The item heading says "Rustic Grain HardieTrim (Common: 1 in. x 3-1/2 in. x 12 ft.; Actual: 24 mm x 3.375 in. x 143.5 in.)". Common 1 in. - Actual 24mm = .94 inches (almost an inch). Yet, when I ask a question, it says 3/4 inch, and when I look at the description of the item it says 3/4 of an inch. Which is it, and inch, or 3/4 of an inch?
Asked by: alterniTECH
Approximately 3/4 x 3-1/2, but it is not exact and the edge is not square or smooth.

Customer Reviews

HardieTrim HZ10 1.0 in. x 3.5 in. x 144 in. Fiber Cement Rustic Grain Trim Board is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 4.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great trim product I've had Hardie siding on my home since it was built in 1999. It's been great. Holds up well and takes paint without issue. Unfortunately, my builder cut corners and did not install Hardie trim. Slowly, I've been replacing the tirm with Hardie trim and it is worth the cost and effort. No more ugly knots showing through the paint. No more warped or rotten trim. Installation is a little more difficult than wood since the product is heavier and harder. Follow instructions and you'll be fine, but don't be shy about asking for help.
