Product Overview

Loctite tite foam is a new generation of polyurethane-based insulating foam sealant that expands to fill, seal and insulate gaps and cracks inside or out. It is white polymer foam based on purified and concentrated ingredients that provides four times more density versus conventional foams for better durability and insulation. It is easy to use and apply with its attached straw applicator and provides a quick durable seal from the elements. It can be used for multiple applications including sealing out drafts, moisture and pests. Its excellent UV resistance reduces brittles and discoloring. Loctite tite foam has very strong adhesion to substrates, while still providing flexibility to move with building materials after cured. It can be used on both interior and exterior projects and is paintable, sandable and stainable.

  • 4 Times more density over conventional foams, providing for better durability and insulation
  • Adheres and expands to fill, seal and insulate while remaining permanently flexible
  • Can be used for both interior and exterior applications
  • Tack free in 8 minutes, trims in 50-70 minutes

How do you remove this off hands?

The can says to clean up with acetone, so be careful where you spray it.

I want to use this product to help secure a sculpture to its base. How flexible is it after it's dried? Is it actually rubbery, or is it mainly fairly rigid?
Asked by: grayfriend
It is rigid and dry after hardening, just like styrofoam. It becomes dry and is intended to fill in gaps around pipes, drains, water lines, etc in order to insulate and fill in around them. I would NOT recommend this product for your project because the foam greatly expands and would affect/offset the sculpture. Consult a Home Depot Associate to recommend the best product for your needs.

Is it waterproof or water resistant?
Asked by: Duane
It says it handles all weather conditions, and based upon the past few days of rain, snow, and wind, I would say it keeps out all of it with no problem.

How simple or complicated is it to trim?

I am applying it on a flat surface and want to level it after dry.
Asked by: Leesyluu
I always use disposable rubber gloves when applying this as getting it off your hands is very difficult, and you can shape it with the gloves on a bit, but I would mostly recommend cutting excess after it dries as it expands as it hardens. You can then make a clean cut in the firm foam.

12 fl. oz. Tite Foam Insulating Foam is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 32.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Loctite Foam Sealant Loctite 12 fl. oz. Tite Insulating Foam fills gaps and cracks around your home. Can be used inside or out all year round, provides better insulation, is less likely to shrink or crack, flexes with seasonal changes. The applicator easily screws on and the straw gives you more reach. Be sure to use gloves because the sealant is hard to remove if you get on your fingers. Manipulate with straw while wet, dries fast, can be sanded and stained after drying. I did find the foam continues to expand in straw even when you release the trigger so you can get a little overflow. I used to seal around the windows in my utility building.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Much denser than ordinary foam insulation I have had a problem with rats in my animal/starter plants room. I had some ordinary foam insulation so I filled the holes with it. It didn't take long until they ate through the ordinary foam insulation, and I put it in thick. I cleaned out all the ordinary foam and applied the Tite Foam. I have had no breach of the Tite Foam and it's been more than a week. The rats don't seem to like it. As you can see, the one in the corner kept expanding even though I used a putty knife to spread it flat. I will get a knife out to trim it when it has had a good time to set up. This stuff gets semi hard on the outside so that a putty knife will not cut through. Warning: put gloves on because it is real sticky. If you do get it on your hands, use some baby powder to remove the stickies.

If you layer too thick the outside will dry first and the underneath will eventually ooze through. So I suggest use in layers and make sure the layer is completely dry. Note: Make sure can has the spray nozzle attached, as two of mine did not.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ideal for sealing and filling gaps! I have large gaps around 2 water pipes that go through my concrete block foundation to the outside spigot. The gaps allow cold air around the water pipes in winter as well as an opening for mice and insects. Loctite Foam was perfect in filling the gaps, insulating the pipes, and closing the opening. It is easy to use. Screw the plastic application straw to the valve after shaking well. Gently press the trigger and the foam comes out easily. It is very sticky so wear some type of gloves to protect your hands. A friend used this product around a doggie door to seal and fill the gaps. It can be cut/trimmed after it sets/dries and can be sanded and painted so was great to finish out the doggie door trim to match the door and look professionally finished . Can be used on interior and exterior.. White in color. Made in Estonia /Northern Europe.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Over-Engineered for Some Projects? This is a review of Loctite's "Tite Foam". Product made in Estonia by Henkel. The product dispenses as the other major brands of 'gap and crack' fillers, maybe slightly more controllable and slightly less messy. Still, once you start, you're going to have to use the whole can ... and isn't that where we want to see improvement? When it's trimmed ... and cutting it is easier than "large cell" PU foams ... it's a cleaner cut. Not sure why anyone would accept it as a finished painted surface. Now the claims ... I have trouble accepting that a denser material insulates better. How can that be? Taking it to an extreme, isn't that claim tantamount to saying a slab of solid PU insulates better than foamed PU? I don't see it. So how did I use the product? Well, I have brick piers/posts that were built around the framing of a deck. Initially, the mortar was laid up tight to it. A year later the expansion of the rim joists popped open all the mortar joints, lifting the 300-lb tops. The posts had to be relaid, this time leaving unsightly clearances all around. I used this stuff to fill the gaps. I only hope that another one of the product's claims is true and that they'll be enough resiliency/compressibility in the foam to accommodate the 1/16" expansion of those 2x10 rim joists. I know the large gap filler would crush under the load and not recover and I didn't want that happening. I expect this foam to bounce back and maintain the seal. Oh, don't expect the 12 oz can to go as far as the less dense material; I needed one can per post and I'm estimating the void volume was only 400 cu in each.
