Product Overview

Loctite tite foam is a new generation of polyurethane-based insulating foam sealant that expands to fill, seal and insulate gaps and cracks inside or out. It is white polymer foam based on purified and concentrated ingredients that provides four times more density versus conventional foams for better durability and insulation. It is easy to use and apply with its attached straw applicator and provides a quick durable seal from the elements. It can be used for multiple applications including sealing out drafts, moisture and pests. Its excellent UV resistance reduces brittles and discoloring. Loctite tite foam has very strong adhesion to substrates, while still providing flexibility to move with building materials after cured. It can be used on both interior and exterior projects and is paintable, sandable and stainable.

How do you remove this off hands?

The can says to clean up with acetone, so be careful where you spray it.

Can this be used multiple times? If not, what is the approx. working time before it hardens and clogs, rendering it useless?
Asked by: tsm
I have been able to re-use it. I take off the applicator and let it dry. I then use a thin wooden dowel (or something similar - a rod that will fit into the straw) to push the dried foam out of the straw, and a metal coat hanger to push and/or dig it out of the white trigger thingie. It actually did come out; it doesn't stick to the plastic. If you really are worried about the white trigger thing, soak it in acetone - the first time I wanted to re-use it, I soaked it in nail polish remover for a few days and it was clean.

I want to use this product to help secure a sculpture to its base. How flexible is it after it's dried? Is it actually rubbery, or is it mainly fairly rigid?
Asked by: grayfriend
It is rigid and dry after hardening, just like styrofoam. It becomes dry and is intended to fill in gaps around pipes, drains, water lines, etc in order to insulate and fill in around them. I would NOT recommend this product for your project because the foam greatly expands and would affect/offset the sculpture. Consult a Home Depot Associate to recommend the best product for your needs.

Is it waterproof or water resistant?
Asked by: Duane
It says it handles all weather conditions, and based upon the past few days of rain, snow, and wind, I would say it keeps out all of it with no problem.

12 fl. oz. Tite Foam Insulating Foam is rated 3.9 out of 5 by 36.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Loctite Foam Sealant Loctite 12 fl. oz. Tite Insulating Foam fills gaps and cracks around your home. Can be used inside or out all year round, provides better insulation, is less likely to shrink or crack, flexes with seasonal changes. The applicator easily screws on and the straw gives you more reach. Be sure to use gloves because the sealant is hard to remove if you get on your fingers. Manipulate with straw while wet, dries fast, can be sanded and stained after drying. I did find the foam continues to expand in straw even when you release the trigger so you can get a little overflow. I used to seal around the windows in my utility building.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Over-Engineered for Some Projects? This is a review of Loctite's "Tite Foam". Product made in Estonia by Henkel. The product dispenses as the other major brands of 'gap and crack' fillers, maybe slightly more controllable and slightly less messy. Still, once you start, you're going to have to use the whole can ... and isn't that where we want to see improvement? When it's trimmed ... and cutting it is easier than "large cell" PU foams ... it's a cleaner cut. Not sure why anyone would accept it as a finished painted surface. Now the claims ... I have trouble accepting that a denser material insulates better. How can that be? Taking it to an extreme, isn't that claim tantamount to saying a slab of solid PU insulates better than foamed PU? I don't see it. So how did I use the product? Well, I have brick piers/posts that were built around the framing of a deck. Initially, the mortar was laid up tight to it. A year later the expansion of the rim joists popped open all the mortar joints, lifting the 300-lb tops. The posts had to be relaid, this time leaving unsightly clearances all around. I used this stuff to fill the gaps. I only hope that another one of the product's claims is true and that they'll be enough resiliency/compressibility in the foam to accommodate the 1/16" expansion of those 2x10 rim joists. I know the large gap filler would crush under the load and not recover and I didn't want that happening. I expect this foam to bounce back and maintain the seal. Oh, don't expect the 12 oz can to go as far as the less dense material; I needed one can per post and I'm estimating the void volume was only 400 cu in each.

Much stronger and denser than Great Stuff - very dense and hard when dried and cured. Probably much better to keep out rodent-type pests compared to Great Stuff. Expands quite a lot - which can be a downside. I used it to seal gaps around pipes going up into kitchen, in the ceiling of an unfinished basement, so appearance isn't a concern, but be prepared for it to expand more than you think. And since it's so dense, expanding the surrounding material may be a concern. I also use DAP foam and in some applications it is better - I can compress it by hand before it cures. For outdoor applications, though, this beats Great Stuff hands down; being resistant to sunlight UV is a huge bonus, since Great Stuff quickly oxidizes if not painted.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from One and done Looks to be good product so far. Application it's straight forward and easy with the straw. Keep in mind, this can should be used in ONE shot. I I used about 40% one day and the next day the straw was useless and the remaining foam in the can could not come out. Also, it didn't seem like there was a lot of product. One can didn't seem to cover a lot.

Went to cut off overspray on both wood and concrete, the sections I cut off where not bonded to either. Doesn't adhere to plastic I put on the wall for protection, nor some rubber tubing it wrapped around, easily peeled off. I could easily separate from just about any material. Yes it is dense, but if it doesn't adhere to the material?!? I have waterproof aluminum deck that is finished on the bottom. The way it is designed has negative/empty space as it goes over the rafters (to save material). Wasps where getting in and I used a can of this to fill the gaps. Now I have to pull out all of this, and replace with one of the many other brands. I didn't check to see if it bonded to the aluminum, but since it is on the wooden rafters... Glad I only used 1 can, instead of all 10 I had purchased. Also, you will need more cans for the same finished volume. It is cheap, so do your own testing before you get aggressive with it.
