Thank you for your question! Yes, this product can be applied over previously painted, vertical surfaces. Make sure the paint isn't peeling, and is clean of dirt and mildew. Additionally, if the paint on there is glossy, you will want to sand it a little to make sure that the stain can stick to it. :-)

Answer: 
On vertical surfaces, Restore Solid Acrylic Stain can last up to 5-10 years depending on conditions. On horizontal surfaces, the Stain can last up to 2-3 years, similar to most solid stain products. For horizontal surfaces, we recommend using Deck & Concrete Restore.
