Answer:
Shawn, While this microwave can be externally vented it comes set up for internal venting which wouldn't require any connections to an outside exhaust.

How do you get the bulb out?

This is in no way a standard bulb (see picture) and I can't get it out. It does not turn, twist or pull...or at least I can't do it and I'm afraid of breaking the bulb. I'm kind of disappointed it burnt out after only 2 months, but it is what it is. If I can't change it out, though, it will be irksome.

Help??

Just so I don't appear totally braindead, somewhere in the manufacturing process, a big ol' glob of glue had effectively welded the bulb in place so I thought I was missing something. Once I pried the glue out, the bulb came out fine.

FTR, the bulb has an *intermediate* size base which is halfway between a regular and candelabra base, so that's what you have to look for. I actually wound up getting mine in Walgreens and it's called an appliance bulb for things like microwaves. So, while not being common, it's not terribly hard to find. Read Less

Answer:
Liz, Please click on the "Use and Care Manual" link on this product page for detailed information.
The charcoal filter is behind the vent grille at the top front of the microwave oven.
A filter status indicator appears in the display when it is time to replace the charcoal filter.

2.0 cu. ft. Over the Range Microwave in Stainless Steel with Sensor Cooking is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 2028.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Great when it works...Buyer Beware! We had this microwave for about 6 months when it started asking us to "Open/Close Door". We opened and closed the door, only to continue getting the same message. None of the other options worked. The microwave basically became a very expensive clock for the kitchen. So glad we purchased a protection plan for this product. Had to call and have it fix for this issue, 3 times. The last time they came to fix the problem, we were told this is a known problem and they had a fix for it. But we had to wait 4 weeks to get the "fix." Unfortunatley the fix only worked for a week. I highly recommend you look at a different microwave. The protection plan did relunctantly refund the purchase price for this item, but not before spending 90 + minutes on the phone with both Home Depot and the protection plan rep.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Frustrating problem! We loved the look and size of this microwave but now that we have it (and have had it a while) we are very frustrated with its performance. We repeatedly and randomly have a problem with is not operating and telling us we need to open/close the door. No matter how many times we do it, it doesn't help. Eventually (sometimes after dozens of tries) it will work. Just now getting around to researching online to see if others have this issue and I see that several do. Wish Whirlpool would issue a repair order for all those affected by this malfunction. Also? The vent fan is very, very loud even on the lowest setting.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Manufacture date is less than two years than two years ago. We got it new inside our new house 2... Manufacture date is less than two years than two years ago. We got it new inside our new house 21 months ago.... Unit kept telling us to Open/Close the door at random times, and last night just went completely dead, no lights, beeps, nothing. We're a middle-age couple with no kids, so the microwave has a pretty easy life in our house, yet it still couldn't make it even two years before dying. Called Whirlpool for service, they want almost twice the cost of a whole new microwave to fix this one. It is completely unsatisfactory and we will not be buying anything with the Whirlpool or Maytag label ever again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great microwave! Quiet, attractive and works well. We've been very happy with this microwave. Only minor complaints are that the range-top light only lights up the back row of the burners and that the display can only be read when you are looking straight at the microwave. If you are off axis at all, you cannot read the display. This is most annoying when you want to check the time or how much time is cook time is left. However, these minor things do not outweigh the positives.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Like it a lot! I do love this microwave. The door opens and closes with ease, and there's lots of power. However, the digital readout is VERY difficult to see--it's blue on black, and it needs to be brightened up. I cannot see it from more than two feet away, and hence, the clock feature is now worthless. Also, the beeps are not very loud--please increase the sound level! Also, PLEASE add more directions about how to use all the features. The one page guide that comes with the microwave provides little detail. And when I tried to chat with a Whirlpool person, I was told to schedule a service call. POOR policy! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 1 out of 5 by from 2.0 Microwave DOES NOT WORK WELL Microwave works when it wants to. Have had it 3.5 months and have had 3 service calls. Will not work with error message of "Open and Close Door". Also, Interior light will not come on, so unit will not work. After opening and closing door several times, I finally give up and leave door open. In about 20 minutes, interior light will come and unit will work. It's maddening. Control panel and several switches have been replaced - still has same problem. Repairman coming today again. Will see what he can do. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Avoid at all costs Just over a year the door started claiming it was not open, and the light would not come on. Now 4 Services later still doing it, Tech claims you just have to unplug it and plug it back in. Was designed to fail, and has. Certified Techs are untrained.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Great Fit and Finish, Poor Quality Components The microwave looks good but that is about where it ends. The bracket that comes with the microwave is stamped sheet metal. It is not rated for the the weight of the appliance. The right side of the unit sags when placed on the mounting bracket as the bracket bends under load. This is both noticeable and unacceptable. Since the unit is sagging on the right side this also causes the rear vent door to bind and makes venting from the rear impossible. Additionally the screen is not viewable unless you are directly in front of it. The digital read out cannot be read from the side or across the room. After installing it and testing it out it failed to work properly on the first try. I cooked a baked potato and steam leaked out of the door onto the face of the appliance and fog developed in between the panes of the window of the door.
