Q:Many of the reviews state that the pictures and product details for this item are incorrect, and the actual bits received by purchasers are made of High Speed Steel (HSS) and NOT Black Oxide as advertised. Is that still the case as of 1.7.21?

A:  Not happy with the quality of product. Broke 3 bits with 2-3 uses.

A:  This kit is not Black Oxide but a combo of HSS and titanium. Will cut thru almost anything with no or little walking because of the split point.

A:  The bits do not look like a black oxide bit to me. I was using a 1/8 inch bit yesterday on a piece of metal and bent the bit. I was able to straighten the bit and finish drilling the hole but I thought it should not have bent. The drill bits do a pretty good job of drilling holes for the money.

        by|Dec 12, 2020

A:  Yes, drill bits are not brand specific.

        by|Dec 14, 2020

        A:  Yeah

        by|Feb 18, 2021

A:  You can use any motorized drill made. You can also use them in a stationary drill press. If you live in the outback without electricity you can use these bits in a hand brace. Or I would recommend buying Dewalts 20 volt cordless drill motors and 2 extra batteries. Happy drilling.

          by|Dec 24, 2020

A:  They will fit in any chuck (I wouldn't use them in "Hammer" mode) that accepts 3/8" bits- and down to 1/16"

          Answer This Question

A:  If you have a 1/2 inch chuck most drills will work.

          by|Dec 1, 2020

A:  as long as your drill has a 3/8" chuck ,it will fit (the 1/2" bit is stepped down to 3/8")

          by|Dec 1, 2020

A:  Yes. They use a 3/8" shank for the big bits.

          by|Dec 5, 2020

A:  5/16 diameter is the largest bit. That is only 1/16 greater than a 1/4" bit. These are cheap small bits. I returned my set as they do not state that these are small bits

              by|Dec 31, 2020

A:  No. You would want bits with impact driver attachable ends.

              by|Jun 25, 2021

A:  No. They do not have a 1/4 inch hex shank. It may look like some do, but that is just a grind they put on the bits so they do not slip in the chuck as easily.

A:  No, these bits are high speed steel and can be used for soft materials (wood, plastic, etc) and metals up to soft steel. It takes carbide bits to tackle concrete and other masonry materials.

              by|Nov 13, 2020

A:  No, you will need "Masonry bits" for drilling those substrates

              by|Nov 12, 2020

A:  No. There are bits available for concrete boring.

              by|May 21, 2021

A:  No! They are not appropriate for use on masonry.

                A:  No

                by|Nov 12, 2020

A:  I would not. There are special masonry bits made for that purpose. Using these bits will dull them or even have them snap becoming very dangerous.

A:  These bits will do well for almost anything around your home (Remember to center punch the spot where you want the hole as to keep the bit from wandering, and if you are drilling a large hole in hard material - 1/4" or larger- drill a pilot hole, I start w/ a 1/8" bit , so as not to cause the final size bit to over heat)

A:  Yes, the Dewalt Atomic Cordless Drill can accept any drill bit or other accessory that is 1/2" in diameter or less. Most large drill bits have a reduced shank to allow you to fit the bit into most chucks.
