A:  It's the exac same product and it's marketed 2 ways. The lesser expensive product is sold "in store." The more expensive product is sold "online"and the difference in price reflects the shipping offset.

A:  This has been answered before. They are exactly the same but one is for online order sales and the other is for in-store sales.

A:  Both community answers are spot on - You will need to remove the failing coatings and apply 2 coats of DRYLOK Extreme in those areas. In the areas where the existing coatings are, test them for adhesion failure - They need to be removed as DRYLOK needs to be applied to a bare surface. If applied over the existing coatings, when the previous coatings fail it will cause the DRYLOK to fail as well.

by|Mar 14, 2019

A:  Any loose or failing paint would have to be removed before applying Drylok. Ideally, you would remove all the old paint, since even if it isn't failing now, it probably will fail at some point.

    by|Mar 8, 2019

A:  Yes,....you would at least need to scrape all the loose paint off. This is just another rubberized paint. If you top coat it with this,....as your old elastermeric falls off,....so would this.

Q:What is the diifference between the Extreme 5 gal. Masonry Waterproofer (Model # 28615 listed at $116) and 5 Gal. White Extreme Waterproofer (Model # 209101 listed at $226)?

A:  None. It's the same product. I verified this through the manufacturer, 2 years ago. The $226 figure was for online sales because of the shipping costs.

A:  This question has been answered multiple times be here is the short answer: One product is sold in stores and because you pick it up locally, there is no expensive shipping that needs to be added or built in. The other product is for people that purchase it online and because it is so heavy, there is extra cost to get the product to your home or business. It is exactly the same product. MY advice is to pick it up in the store and use the savings to buy a new cordless drill or something.

A:  Michigan Homeowner - Great community answers below. The only thing I would add is to make sure you applied the correct amount of DRYLOK to the surface before you apply a decorative finish. We require two coats applied at a rate of 100 square feet per gallon. Take your total wall square footage and divide by 100, then multiply by 2 - that will tell you how many gallons to properly waterproof the surface. Once you have determined you have applied the proper amount, you can apply a latex topcoat in the color and sheen of your choice.

A:  916manag, I would suggest doing a test section first. Make sure the surface is clean and all loose stucco is repaired. Apply two coats of DRYLOK at 100 square feet per gallon (two coats on a 10x10 area, two gallons). With a previous coating on the surface it's hard to say - it really depends where the water is coming from. We do require DRYLOK be applied over a non-painted surface or over existing DRYLOK for warranty purposes. I think a test section would be a great idea. A:  It should. Make sure to remove any loose paint or stucco. Repair any damaged sections. After acid washing, rinse well, let it dry thoroughly, and apply Drylok. When dry, paint with the topcoat of your choice.

A:  I've used a lot of this product and it's good. Think of DryLok Extreme as a paint bandage. It protects the basement from damp walls. But if you have areas where the wall is more than just damp (as in leaking walls), then you need to patch those areas before you apply the bandage. That's where fast-setting hydraulic cement products come in. You need to patch those really bad spots first before you paint the walls. Home Depot carries a number of fast-setting hydraulic cement products. The one that I used was called Water Stop but DryLok also makes one of their own. I will tell you that it's all worth it in the end. To prove it, I've posted some before, during and after progress pictures for you to see. This was in an old 1860's farm house. Good luck!

A:  Drylok Extreme is a latex product and it works great for walls and other vertical surfaces but it's not for use on horizontal surfaces. Try a 1-part epoxy from the same manufacturer (UGL).

A:  I don't see why not. It is recommended on concrete swimming pools and fish ponds, so it should work fine for shower walls, but not a shower floor. It is not recommended for floors. Drylok has a different product for floors. (I know you only mentioned walls, but for completeness, I thought I'd cover floors, too.)
