Q:Since these are primed, can I use Behr's water-based latex paint? Also, how do the end cuts need to be prepared for painting, or can I use the Behr on them, too?

A: Yes you can use water-based latex paint. The ends can either be primed first or just use a few coats of paint.

A: We've used this baseboard molding throughout our entire house. It is super easy to paint and cut! We've used many different brands of paint (both water-based and oil-based) and we've applied the paint with a brush and a paint sprayer ~ you can't go wrong with it. The ends may need several coats of paint because they are not pre-primed (only if the ends will show where you are installing the baseboard).

A: Posting as We used Behr's primer on the end cuts and also on the back of the boards to have them sealed. We also used Behr's latex Paint

Q:I want to install in a bathroom. Can I use adhesive to attach to tile wall?

A: Yes
by|Sep 7, 2019
A: No, it is not recommended to use an adhesive to attach it to a tile wall.
by|Sep 4, 2019
A: Hi Jake,
I suppose you could attach it with adhesive but I would never do that. Too much moisture could build up in the bathroom and the adhesive could fail. The molding could fall on someone’s head at any given moment. I can only assume you don’t want to remove the tile where you the moulding would be placed and I don’t blame you. Good luck with your project.
by|Sep 9, 2019
A: Honestly I would not use this in the bathroom. At least not near anything that might get wet. It is compressed wood particle board and it expands and breaks apart when it gets wet. To answer your question can you use adhesive to attach it to a tile wall yes you can!
by|Sep 14, 2019
A: Hi Jake, thank you for your inquiry. First of all, highly not recommend placing MDF in a high moisture area like your bathroom as it will get damaged from the water. Second, we also don't recommend using adhesive to attach to a tile wall as this is will not hold securely. We hope this helps and if you have any more questions, you can call our customer service team and they would be happy to help. Good luck with your project!

Q:What length of finish nails are best? Where on the board would you hit it with nails, on the grooved portion or just the flat portion? What type of glue works best for certain corner applications with this product? Can I use semi gloss water base paint or do I need an oil base paint? Planning to do my entire home and want to get it right as an amateur.
thanks,
DW

A: I used 2 inch nails and hit it low so that my 1/4 round or shoe molding cover the holes,

A: We used 2” nails and held the nail gun upside down and went into the first big groove from the top. This made them almost invisible even before spackling the holes.

A: Hi and thank you for your inquiry. 2" finishing nails will work fine, and a wood glue is also helpful when installing. Ideally when installing you want to nail on a flat part of the moulding and/or a place with a larger surface area so filling the nail holes and sanding the area is easier and will end with a smoother finish. You can use any water based (latex) paint. Good luck!

A: 1/2” nails with an air nailer. No glue is needed. Aim in the groove, tap nail heads in and fill the divets in with caulk. Caulk along the top of the rail. Use the primered type of baseboard and you can paint it with whatever you like.

A: So the finish nail size.... that all depends on how good you are at what the plan for the base board is.. again are you a pro? I guess not cuz you wouldn’t be looking at this so I guess pretty much just wherever you think it would make it look better..glue? Well I didn’t use any but by all means use gorilla glue and make sure you do exactly what the instructions says on the Gorilla glue label I would use leaf based paint on this product..please don’t really do this!!! Hahahahahaha

A: 2" finish nails seem to work fine and nail on the flatter parts of the molding surface never in the groves it's easier to fill and sand your nail holes so that in the end they are invisable.

A: Hi Kat, thank you for your inquiry. This product is not meant to get excessively wet. If you are looking to put it in a bathroom, ensure you have proper ventilation and use a bathroom/kitchen paint as the finish coat.
by|May 5, 2023
A: Hi Kat...this baseboard is made out of MDF. You will be ok if you have a good painted fi ishiguro on it. However if it becomes chipped and water has a chance to get below the paint it will expand. Think of a sponge when it gets wet. I wouldn't use it where water would be up against it. Hope this helps.

A: any wood product if continually wet will break down

Q:I have curved walls, is it bentable?

Answer This Question
A: Hi Jesse, thank you for your inquiry. MDF generally has some flex to it, however depending on the radius of the curve of your wall it may or may not work.
by|May 5, 2023
A: The shorter you cut the piece, the less flexible it is. It also depends on the degree of curvature of your walls. If it's minor irregularities in an otherwise "straight" wall, this will work fine. If it is an intentional curvature, if minor it would probably work. It is likely not meant to be "bent" however. Post a picture of the wall.
by|May 5, 2023
A: I don’t believe it is but I didn’t try to bend it for my walls
by|May 5, 2023
A: Yes it will bend unlike it's Pine counterpart however, it will not make sharp bends if that is what you are looking for. I suppose you can make it go around a slight bend if you notch the back. I've never tried it so try at your own risk.
by|May 5, 2023
A: No, it is not.

A: it would been some but it would be more like on a 12ft radius. I hope that helps.
by|May 5, 2023
A: Yes, it sure is. Depends on how tight the curve but I'd say that if the radius is at least 6' you should be able to fit it to your wall.
by|May 5, 2023
A: Only very slightly, it’s made of MDF. Take a piece of 5/8” thick mdf and see you how far you can bend it, that’ll give you a good idea of its flexibility.

Answer This Question
A: It is not real wood, but high quality particle board.
by|May 5, 2023
A: They are made from MDF, not solid wood. You’ll never see the difference though, they come primed and ready for paint. If you want solid wood because you like the grain pattern the no, this is not the product for you.
by|May 5, 2023
A: They are a pressed board material
by|May 5, 2023
A: No, these are MDF (medium density fibreboard), which means it has particles of wood mixed with additives. We love this base board because it is more flexible than wood and cuts easily. If you can find it in wood, you will pay 3-4 times more for it.

A: MDF is medium-density fibreboard, which is made with wood fibers pressed together with a wax/resin under high heat.

A: I have installed these in my living room and they only have a flat paint finish on them.
You can get away with the way they look but since I have a different color scheme
I will be painting mine semi-gloss white. It all depends on your preference.
by|Feb 22, 2019

A: The white finish does look good, however, when you install them, you can see nails and then also the caulk for any corner pieces. There were also some pieces that were a little scratched. To finish them off completely, I would recommend making sure all of the nails are pushed in and then painting over with white anyway to blend the caulk, cover any nails, and any other scratches, but the painting is really easy since they are already all white!

A: i Recommend painting at least one coat of paint. The paint allows for easier clean up from scuffs or dirt.
Also hides nail holes and seams
