Questions and Answers for OXO 9-Cup Stainless Steel Drip Coffee Maker with Stainless Steel Carafe

A:  Paper #4 filters are needed. Carafe won’t keep coffee like I want. It does meet the 200 degree temperature mark and certifications of the water over the grind but once coffee is brewed and in the carafe...you got to consume it quickly. It seems to not make a difference whether you warm the carafe before brewing and we know that there is no hot plate involved with this brewer. My solution is to pour my cup for drinking after brew...pour the rest out of carafe into a better insulated container for my later additional cup. Very minor as this is a little slow but makes a wonderful cup with clean water...good fresh right now grinds and it does brew at the high temperature as certifications state

A:  I haven't had to replace any filters on my model. You have to descale it periodically for optimal function. There's no hot plate. The carafe is thermally insulated. Coffee stays pretty hot for about an hour. It cools off very gradually in the carafe, so still warm hours later.

A:  Hi Elizabeth, I'm Lauren with OXO. Thanks for the great questions! Regarding our 9 Cup Coffee Maker, we do not have a water filter inside the machine. Only filters that should be used are the coffee filters, which should be changed after each brew. Depending on if the carafe is preheated and how much coffee is brewed, the coffee will stay between 175 and 185 degrees for several hours. We always recommend preheating the carafe before brewing (rinsing the inside of the carafe with hot water). There is no hot plate on the 9 Cup Coffee Maker. A:  It uses a #4 paper cone filter that is required for each brew cycle. I'm not sure if a permanent filter will work or not.
