A:  It is mainly used to replace the grate. You can adjust the clips slightly to provide a small gap between the top of the well and bottom of the cover. It will provide a small bit of airflow.

A:  This would replace the grate, and you would not get any airflow from out side. I put these on to keep out small critter's and leaves and other items from getting into the window wells. Lots of light but no air flow.

A:  maybe might be something for the inside of the window well if you looked but you don't want this locked if you need to escape in a hurry

A:  The egress covers are not designed for a locking system. You may want to check with your local egress codes before you put a lock on your egress well. Most egress systems are set up for a rescue personnel to be able to access the basement in order to save lives. Any modification to this cover itself can and will void the warranty.

A:  Yes, it comes with clips that you drill into the underside of the cover and it clamps right on top of the egress window ridge.

A:  It comes with these clamps to clamp it down. If your window is a safety exit for emergencies im not sure a more secure lock than what they provide would be safe. My toddlers can’t open it from outside but from inside the window you can push up with force and pop it open

A:  Yes, the cover is crystal clear and somehow seems to stay clean. We are very happy with ours. It is remarkably strong for being so lightweight.
